I just got a brand new laptop that wasn’t cheap. It works great until I play hearthstone. For some reason it knocks out my wifi on the laptop. I have no idea why this is so frustrating. Thank you.
Hey, Fame! Hearthstone alone wouldn’t cause the issue, but it may be a bandwidth issue and the game is triggering the network connection to drop. It can be caused by mitigation programs or on the home network settings.
- Reset the network devices.
- Try checking the Windows firewall and router firewall.
- Close any background applications. Certain programs like Smartbyte/Rivet Networks that comes with Dell systems, can mitigate the connection causing these issues. If you do have a Dell system and Smartbyte, try uninstalling this program.
- Try checking the router/modem settings for QoS (Quality of Service), WMM (Wireless Multimedia), and UPnP (Universal Plug and Play). If these are enabled, try disabling them.
This is not supported by Blizzard as there are many different models with different configuration. If assistance is required, please contact the manufacturer or if the device was provided by the internet provider, please reach out to them.
Hopefully, this helps with the issue to get Hearthstone working on the new laptop If it does continue and the connection drops, does it require a reboot? Does flushing the DNS help bring back the connection without needing to reboot?
3 posts were split to a new topic: Chuchu - connection issues
Hi, I also have connection issues. It for sure isn’t a wifi issue, since literally everything else that uses wifi connection works perfectly except Hearthstone. It crashes after every single game. It’s going on for about 2 months, so could anyone in Blizzard already do anything about it?
