Hearthstone Continually Crashes

I made this post over in the Bug Forums, but I wanted to post it here too just in case not everyone checks each forum and didn’t want to miss the chance to help someone.

I have been posting about Hearthstone crashing on my iPad for over a year now with no response from Devs. I have done A LOT of research trying to figure out what was going on with the game I enjoy so much and finally came to an answer to the crashing problem. I know there are a lot of people out there with the same issue I’m having, so I wanted to make a post to share what I learned!

Basically it all comes down to the RAM that your device has. I have an iPad 9th generation which comes with 3GB of RAM. Hearthstone requires 3GB of RAM. Even with all other programs closed, your device still requires RAM for the operating system, which explains why Hearthstone crashes so often. For comparison, I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max that plays and runs Hearthstone flawlessly. No crashes no matter what I do. My iPhone 13 comes with 6 GB of RAM.

I know the solution of buying a better device isn’t favorable, especially considering the price of everything nowadays, but I am thankful to finally have an answer to this problem. If you contact Apple directly through Support on your device they can direct you to a list of their devices with how much RAM each device has. Pretty silly how only the device’s hard drive size is displayed under the About section, but it is what it is. Unfortunately I have no clue how to do any of this for Android devices.

I hope that I was able to help and shed light on what’s going on with all the crashing! Take care and have a great day!

Crashing on a mobile device is probably the memory running full. Try to stop all other apps in the background.

It’s not certain because it could be congestion on the GPU of the SoC or even bugs etc.

Yes, I had always done that. My new iPad arrived with 8 gigs of RAM and Hearthstone runs flawlessly! It feels so good to have Hearthstone back and running perfectly again! A big thanks to everyone who provided guidance help along the way!

Thank you. I’m on a 9th gen iPad too and it has gotten worse, kicking me out of every other match I play. Going to get a better device!
