I played for the first time since the Boomsday Project and I remember why, aside from the increasingly aggressive monetization, I quit this game. I’m just not having fun most of the time. I tried wild and my god, wild has always had its toxic decks and match-ups, but the current iteration of pirate warrior has got to be the worse. Even at the low ranks, where I could usually brew up some janky decks and have fun in the past, it’s just one match up after another of pirate warrior. I tried classic and while a fun novelty for a day, it’s just the same solved meta I played 7 years ago.
I haven’t really played standard, maybe 3 matches, because I don’t have many cards for that format, but I can’t imagine it’s much better. I haven’t played battlegrounds. I messed around with mercenaries for a bit, but it just seems like this totally disconnected game within the game of hearthstone and is a bit of a snoozer for me so far.
What’s the general opinion of the standard format at the moment? This hyper aggressive format in wild is just so unfun to me as someone that just enjoyed making janky homebrew control decks in the past.
I gave up on wild a long time ago, I just can’t have fun losing 90% of the time with my custom brews. As for standard, it’s a lot better than last expansion for sure, I’m still losing a lot with my crappy decks like burgle rogue, big spell mage and quest druid, but at least I’m having fun. Don’t know how long it will last though, eventually ppl will stop experimenting and start playing only meta decks. Then it’s back to quest warlocks, libram paladins and face hunters every game.
As long as there are better rewards to winning and climbing ranks, people will always try to maximise and aim to win rather than have fun. Unfortunately, that’s how the game is designed.
Even with rewards track, winning gives more XP than losing. It’s not about having fun nowadays, but winning - at least for me. until I reach my goal for the season.
I got my free deck, the mage one, I haven’t tried it yet. I’ve been busy the last few days.
The thing is, I played since open beta. During the first year the game was out we only had one core set for an entire year. It was pretty easy to end up with the entire card set even as a F2P. The first expansion was nax which was 25 bucks to get the entire set of cards. The first full set wasn’t released until gvg and even that was followed by another adventure. So, year two we had one full expansion and 2 adventures. Year three was followed by 2 full sets and one adventure. Year four they completely did away with adventures and went for 3 full expansions. Eventually they added freaking 3 adventures and 3 full sets for an entire year! On top of that the designs of the sets themselves. Previous sets only had one legendary per class and the power level of legendary’s were relatively lower. As time went on we had multiple class legendaries per expansions and many of these legendaries now have direct synergies off of one another. Even optimal aggro decks today contain multiple legendary cards. The cost of this game is just CRAZY and I’ve played a lot of TCG’s in my life, but at least with actual physical TCG’s like Pokemon and magic the gathering you end up with stuff that has actual resale/collectors value. The cost is especially crazy when you figure the shelf life of these sets when wild is as broken and unfun of a mess as it is for even me, a veteran player with a fairly large collection of cards Boomsday and under.
Preaching to the choir man. Everything you wrote was spot on. Was just curious what your impressions of trying their free deck in the current meta were.
Color me shocked. You literally never have a bad word to say about the company. Not one. You never even empathize with people who have an issue, just downplay their concerns, outright flame them, or gaslight them entirely and portray the company as the place that can do no wrong. I’ll give you an easy one:
The current lawsuits they are facing: are they wrong for what happened, and should those responsible (including the company for turning a blind eye) be held responsible? And if more are discovered to have taken part, should they likewise be fired?
so now theere are lawsuits …about building card collections ?
on another thread someone mentioned lawsuits too and the thread was about …balance patches
im starting to think people are making stuff up about whats on the lawsuits
and back to this topic
i started to play around the time nax was released when we got duplicate protection i was missing savana highmane x 2 and 1 eaglehorn bow
i remember those because hunter is my least played class and thought on crafting those several times to try playing hunter but ended up playing without them and i know i had several more missing across all expansions without duplicate protection
im still missing around 10 rares just from gobling and gnomes
and pretty much everyone but you knows how much easier is to build your card collection after the duplicate protection was added
so when you or the OP comes and says it was easier to build a card collection back then …of course i wont believe you
Bro, stop wasting your time on HS.
Go play Legends of Runeterra. much more interactive. much less dumb otk decks.
I’ve been playing for the last 2-3 months now and I am hving much more fun there.
It is much more interesting to play than HS since you can acually counter your enemy when they play spells. imagine you could stop a fireball from killing you simply by playing a “stop spell” card. . .
Also, its much easier to get cards and it is much more rewarding in terms of getting new cards for free.
So I gave the sorc deck a whirl. 5 losses in a row. I actually had fun messing with it. I thought it was an interesting concept and I was making decisions instead of playing on auto-pilot. It was just underpowered compared to everything else I was facing. Which everyone else I was facing seemed to be playing full on meta decks in the lowest ranks possible. I really don’t know how a new player is supposed to get into this lol.
So, people weren’t harassed…which has been documented, corroborated, and has multiple witnesses, the company has publicly apologized for, and so on? I’ve seen shills go all in, but this is next level denial here. Good to know you support sexual harassment.
Honestly, that’s one of the worst aspects of this game. I realized this early on that there was little to no room for your own kind of decks, unless you created your own brain trust style deck. You either had to stick to the meta or close to it. So, as long as you enjoy getting to the I win button first, you can enjoy hearthstone. Then it became about who could build the OTK decks, then the faster OTK decks, and finally where we are now.
It’s a mess to be sure, and that’s putting it mildly.
and is amazing how you use the victims to complain about HS balance by claiming is part of the lawsuit …
at least you didnt bother denying you lied because when you answered to my post you only posted whats really is in the lawsuit without the lies you and the other guy ( who probably is your alt ) added to the list
And now the shill uses the tried and true tactic: dishonesty. I was asking you point blank if you ever had a negative thing to say about the company, and used the example of the workplace harassment lawsuits as an example. Note, before you edited your post, you actually said “yep” when asked if everything (that was well documented) about that situation was “made up.”
You are trying to conflate lawsuits about balance and the sexual harassment stuff to try and save face.
linking HS balance and collecting cards is what you and other posters been doing
its what ive been complaining about
you lied about what i said to trick people into thinking i was treating the lawsuit as a lie ,
you were the first one to bring the lawsuit to answer a post i made about not beleiveing when someone said it was easier to build a card collection before duplicate protection (seriously whos going to believe that ?)
Nope. That was all you. You edited your post fast, but not fast enough before I caught your “yep.” I literally asked you if you ever said anything negative about the company and gave you an easy opportunity to do so. And you STILL won’t.
