Grinding for Legend broke me

Spending hours playing ranked non-stop, juggling between Diamond 5 and 2, dealing with unfair matchups, random queue drops that force loses, and no feeling of progression. Any victories I make are quickly taken away and send me back to Square one where I was hours ago before I started the session.

What I’m most dissapointed about, is that it feels like I can’t appreciate the game any other way either. The game has become a grinding fest testing my sanity and I guess I need to vent here because I don’t know any better.

Anyways, back at it. Be safe friends.

Understand what you mean, i honestly feel it’s alot of luck going the last few ranks, when you lose it’s not because the opponent were the better player, he just had a counter…and that to me is the most annoying thing in this game. there is so many bad players on the higher ranks d10 d5 and even in the high legend…not only do they need 30seconds to play their damn card but they just not doing anything special, they just do what every other player does, there really is no variation on games. I wish there was more skill involved so that the better player wins when played good, but that can’t be done in this game.

What do you usually do (or plan to do) after getting to legend?
Maybe you can be satisfied with getting to D5 and trade 1 pack (the extra legend reward) for more time to dedicate to whatever you would do after reaching legend

Thx for the funny title! It’s right und made me smile. I also know this roller coaster named “ladder” very well. Sometimes it’s like a hammer in your face. Then you have to wipe the blood off your chin and move on.

Tough question. After getting it once, I will probably just go back at enjoying building goofy decks and expanding my collection.

It’s dumb but maybe getting Legend is just about getting the Card back, or the sense of pride and accomplishement, and stalling at Diamond 5 feels like such a tease, so-close-yet-so-far kind of thing.

Good luck!

Advice:

  1. Your deck for climbing to Legend first time should be fun for you. Yes, strong meta decks can be fun!
  2. Always read the VS reports. You don’t necessarily need to copy card for card, but be aware of the flashy noob traps many players include, that you should avoid.
  3. Right now, play aggro. Unless you really hate aggro. Aggro is not only the best ATM, but it’s also a faster climb, due to faster games.

Just play Imp Curselock and you should climb from D5 to Legend very easily. Unless you really don’t know what you’re doing…

Honestly, with the state of the current meta, getting to Legend probably isn’t worth it. The game is meant to be fun, and sacrificing your mental health for an extra card pack isn’t a fair trade. Remember to take a break and play something else every now and then.

Thanks for the replies guys. I’m 15 wins off the Shadow Gul’dan skin so I’ll just push a bit more to get it and then just chill until the new expansion kicks in. Though by the look of some of the new cards, I’m kind of scared of what the future holds. That dude that doubles stats of minions sounds really unfun to play against.

I understand, & I don’t even attempt to try for legend anymore. I play mage, which does not seem to allow much past high gold most of the time, IF that.

I don’t mind losing, even though of course it’s annoying to be on a great roll & then suddenly lose tons of stars just because you’re hitting a bad streak.

For me, the aggravation is definitely in losing without any choice. If someone plays curses, Jailer, or the priest quest, I can be destroyed without even a chance to fight back. At least for mage anyway, which doesn’t allow the healing necessary to survive much past curse damage.

Frankly, I don’t see the skill in those decks & so they’re not fun to me, so I don’t want to play them only to compete because other people seem to enjoy basing wins on luck or single cards just coming up eventually.

Even then, it’s not too bad. But there are so many players who purposely use the rope to make it worse as they play their little non-strategy/no-skill decks, and it’s not worth even trying anymore. Rewards are not even worth the stress, anyway.

If any one of these things were even addressed by Blizzard - either have ALL cards have a counter from any class, no matter how difficult it may be to play; actual consequences & response to rope abuse; or actual rewards that match the value of the rising prices as they mess around with the rune system and the other things, I’d feel a bit better. But Blizzard doesn’t care. They don’t even have support for their bugs & instead have us come here and hope other players are willing to do tech support in addition to playing.
