Forced 2nd place in Battlegrounds?

I was playing Battlegrounds after the newest patch and performing rather well - on my third game, I was on a large win-streak with a very solid Menagerie build. When it came down to the top 3 remaining, I was slated to battle the guy in third. I won that battle, eliminating the player in third place, putting me into a 1v1 against the guy in first.
