In one turn my opponent played Alexstraza (down to 15) Malygos and two soul fires (18 more damage).
I worked hard to pressure the quest warlock as I always do, and to keep my life total up, but since I don’t play hyper aggro my hard work and skill just didn’t matter.
Playing a game where you are over 90% sure of the outcome before it starts is just not fun. The game should not be decided before it even starts.
That is my opinion anyway.
I guess I am calling for Malygos and Alexstraza to be sent to the hall of fame.
The warlock had to be lucky to get a 0 mana cost malygos or alex from his quest for this to work otherwise you have 2 turns to heal, So this could be either you are weak to burst damage ie you have no healing in your deck and if you do you should " look" for it asap
OTK are nothing new its just knowing when its happening and trying to ensure that you have some form of a counter to it,
The amount of times i,ve played Quest warlock very rarely have I gotten a 0 cost maly from the quest.
Alextrsza is 9 mana , Malygos is 9 Mana, + 2 soulfires at 1 mana each the warlock needs 1 turn where he has 11 mana and sufficient cards to do a dragon and the 2 soul fires and be lucky that he dont discard his other soulfire from his 1st soulfire unless its over 2 turns.
play face hunter and pray you kill them before they get a chance to do anything
quest warlock is only good vs slow decks with no burst damage nor burst healing. either accept that you cant have favorable matchups vs every deck or look over your deck building
There are variations of quest warlock that uses burst healing and damage; mo’arg and netherbreath for 8 damage and healing, crazed netherwing for big clears, plot twist can get you more healing with broodmother…finally, these spells hit face, not just minions.
It’s not a hard counter to aggro, but it’s a highly successful deck, sitting at over 60% win rate, we just aren’t seeing it get much play.
the origin of quest lock being a relevant deck was when the pros tried to create anti-priset lineups for tournaments, and hl hunter and quest lock were the best counters by far.
I get the same feeling when playing vs a Highlander Deck and how the same cards just flow from 1 - 10.
Me Hunter vs Highlander Hunter.
I am outplaying my opponent for 3 turns. Way ahead 30 to 17 and then on their turn 4…the magic happens.
ZEPHYRS SAVE ME! And he does. Now its just Zephyrs and one of my minions on the board.
Then turn 5 more magic happens. FACELESS CORRUPTOR. RUSH! Change one of my weak minions of about not die into another 4/4 RUSH!
Now he owns the board. Soon the game is even. Soon I have to pull miracle card from my deck to deal 5 direct damage to win.
Nope. But the highlander continues to get good 1 in 30 cards to win it.
Thank You Zephyrs for always being at the top if my deck and I can drop you for the save. Thank Faceless Corruptor for always being there on turn 5, the swing game moment of every Hearthstone game. Thank You Blizzard or coding your game that is so predictable us Highlanders can put one in 30 cards on our decks and not fear about having to go draw for them or think ahead about out moves. We can just drop cards knowing th other cards are going to be there for us.
Yep, that OTK deck is all over in diamond rank too. I had to beat maybe 10 of them to get legend this month. Somebody else said to out-aggro their healing, and that’s accurate. Highlander hunter seemed to work for me.
If you can make their turns awkward, that’s how you can beat their clock. Playing around dark skies using higher health minions is useful.
The deck is super hard to pilot, so play the deck you are good at, tempo them, and it’s actually likely that they will blow it.
You can also make them mill sometimes, which utterly destroys their gameplay…sometimes.
Something similar happened to me because of Alexstraza. Its total trash. I was playing as Priest and had 29 LP well into the game. Opponent plays Alexstraza boosts a couple of minions and ends the game. I had played my cards perfectly and was controlling the field almost the whole game. I also had them out of cards when in 1 turn I go from 29 LP to 0. Nothing you can do. It’s just trash and broken.
you could have considered how you can lose and this situation and saved removal, played taunts etc. since you were bursted down from 29 and had no counter play what so ever prepared indicates that you did in fact not play your cards perfectly.
This indicates you was playing a late game deck similar to your opponent.
Whilst you was controlling the field what do y ou think your opponent was doing whilst you was busy clearing his minions?
His minions were cannon fodder whilst he gathered his combo pieces.
If your fed up with OTK and being killed from full HP, Do what I did and play Face Hunter 30 wins and 7 losses atm this gives you the chance to kill them before they assemble their OTK pieces.
I worked out a while ago that a control deck has the same win chance as a aggro deck but without the 30 minute timer to find out if you draw good or bad, Which is why i switched to a Face Hunter, So many times I found that I was killed by a “Created By” card or a OTK card so I figured now i,ll give my opponent little chance to generate value or “get out” cards with the face hunter.
I find if I get bad starting hand or my opponent gets a good start I just auto concede by turn 4 same way I would fold if I got given a 2 of spade and 8 of hearts in poker xD
Why do you think that most decks have a win rate past 50% because your “default” win rate for ANY deck is 50%
That is the beauty and thrill of this game - you are guaranteed a win no matter what because you have played with skill and thought and your opponent is a chancing lamer and they win in one round with 1 card.
