Seems to me you lost because you only had one taunt on your board when you were within lethal range territory. Couldnt have foreseen the windfury weapon but the threat of losing that singular taunter and anything else swinging at you should mean you could have done 1 thing to prevent the loss by just having another taunter on board in that one scenario.
There wasn’t “nothing” you could have done differently.
All Titans are is a 3 time use battlecry without any of the battlecry synergies and doubly balanced by not being able to attack.
There are already 1 mana kill anything spells in the game and it goes that way up to 3 mana as well. Titans bodies are big but stats depreciate in value so you really need to be able to use them at least twice (in most cases) to justify their cost.
Titans are strong but they’re balanced. There are bigger offenders.
They’re basically planeswalkers except I don’t think they’ll get the planeswalker treatment of expecting a new titan in every set which kinda is the lame thing about making new sets where the philosophy is ‘we can’t use the same keyword twice EVER.’
Really rare that a keyword becomes evergreen after the introduction.
The only Titan that got nerfed was Yogg and that’s because it mana cheated itself, not because of anything related to the Titan mechanic.
Also, decks being played in being nerfed? That’s so ambiguous. Basically every class uses their own Titans aside from Rogue and Mage (which is another argument for them not being broken).
Again, not every deck that plays Titans are nerfed. Secondly, the ones that are nerfed haven’t (aside from Priest) been nerfed in ways that reflect an issue with Titans.
The reason priest had nerfed text on Reflections is because Priest has a lack of big minions and Reflections being a 5 mana spell is not going to choose to target low cost minions and Aman’Thul is like their premier card right now but that’s largely in part to how many copies they have access to. If priest had a deathrattle package I’m sure we’d be seeing other things going on, and yet the cards that were nerfed were part of a completely separate package (dragons).
The vast majority of card nerfs within the previous and current standard rotation had nothing to do with titans. Most of the nerfs have been related to hunter having too many cards that were way too mana efficient (and their titan wasn’t even hit), a nerf to even warlock which can’t even run Sargeras, MANY aggro and buff paladin nerfs, more warlock nerfs with their excavate minion, warrior with a billion control nerfs, a Reno package nerf, Reno itself nerfed for all classes, etc etc.
You’ve missed some things in your analysis, but it won’t change your mind.
Titans are bad for the game. Collossals were too.
There’s also some mitigating factors involved here about how the meta works that prevents titans from showing their full potential, but that’s another topic.
Reflections wasn’t nerfed because of Priest, it was nerfed because of Druid and the Druid titan interaction. Granted, it was strong in Priest as well, but Druid did this.
Actually you’re more right about this. I forgot about the druid interaction tbh.
Either way Titans aren’t a problem. All you have to do is look at the played WR of cards and there are literally dozens of other cards with higher winrates than all of them aside from Amitus, and Amitus has a high played WR because there are over a dozen other paladin cards with higher played WRs that share spots in the deck they’re all played in. This indicates that paladin itself is a problem (as it always is) and Amitus rides the coat tails of arguably the best deck in the game.
The whole sentiment that ‘Titans are bad for the game’ is entirely an emotional response and doesn’t look at the numbers or the context behind the numbers.
I mean, they are completely overpowered standalone cards. You can compare each one to other cards of the same mana cost, and you’ll see that the TITANS’ versatility and power are off the charts.
These cards are so strong that they become auto-includes in every deck for their class. It’s nauseating, really. It’s akin to how Reno and Unkilliax dominate every game. Eventually, you just get tired of seeing them and think: Is this really the pinnacle of the fun HS can provide?
