Dial down the discard warlocks

Posting credentials: multilegend and multi lightforged-keyholder

This deck was already godmode without the recent buffs. And now, every zero-skill trashcan legend has abandoned their ez-mode wisp mage and demon seed lock to jump on this.

What is wrong with the devs? If the majority of legend players are using one cheap trash deck, isn’t that an indication to maybe nerf it? What exactly do you do all day? I know blizz is out in Cali and very big on DEI but there must be someone there who actually knows what they’re doing and is accountable?

It’s pretty cancerous but give me a discard warlock over playing against a demon seed, or imbue mage deck anyday. It’s not any worse than playing against a shadow priest or pirate rogue.

The main thing that annoys me is the lack of variety, once these smooth brains figure out a deck is easy to play that’s the only deck you come across. I wouldn’t mind a nerf to cursed catacombs just so bring it down a level so the popularity of the deck takes a hit.

I will say that I don’t see it being a god tier deck since it’s easy to lose games if you don’t start out with a perfect hand but it definitely gets annoying playing 10 games and 7 of them are the same degenerate deck.

Can’t keep DEI outta ya mouth huh?

It’s a code word projection habit… those who use the word so routinely. It’s probably in nearly every post of yours across the broad internet I’m sure.

Do you bring it up with your friends too? While grabbing lunch and in the car? Are you just saving it for anonymous chitchat?

It stands for Doesn’t Erect Independently

You might want to keep something like that private.

DEI is a good point. Many game conmpanies have been going bankrupt because of DEI.
You need to hire based on merit, if you hire based on other attributes you get people who can’t do as good of a job as if you hired someone on merit.
DEI was one of the biggest tragedies for companies in the USA.
Once corporate America was 100% positive the Bolsheviks lost power almost all companies got rid of it after Trump won.
It provided no value.

Even univeristies and colleges stopped provided classes and degrees for it. That is how detrimental it is.

Oh geez, here’s another one. You know they got pills for this right?

You don’t have to come on here seeking affirmation. It’s going to be OK. No one judges you. Medical science is on your side.

Here is a fresh master’s thesis you won’t read and struggle to understand tatter-tot: researchgate net/profile/Kwan-Hong-Tan/publication/392691659_The_Dynamic_DEI-Performance_Nexus_A_Novel_Theoretical_Framework_for_Understanding_the_Relationship_Between_Diversity_Equity_Inclusion_and_Corporate_Performance/links/684d549f7869fe75c559364b/The-Dynamic-DEI-Performance-Nexus-A-Novel-Theoretical-Framework-for-Understanding-the-Relationship-Between-Diversity-Equity-Inclusion-and-Corporate-Performance.pdf

Crazy a simple 3 letter abbreviation can make people so upset.

Hire the wrong people expect a mess. It’s really not that hard to understand. Now instead of a fun well balanced game we get dumb stuff like $160 animated pets that add nothing besides child like aesthetics.

There are about 30 different bugs from last update to the new expansion being released and maybe 5 of them got fixed, but hey at least we have a cute little $160 animation. That’s the real focus…

If DEI worked and diversity added more value than MERIT, Companies would not have dumped it. Got it?
Corporations exist to make money for shareholders. Got it?
If it added value they would not have got rid of it. Got it? It would be the default.
It added nothing or they would keep it. CORPORATIONS like to make money.
The only reason they went along with BLM, rainbow stuff, and DEI is because the Marxist were amassing massive power through election fraud and burning cities down to the ground and that was the structure they had to exist in.
It would be like going against the Bolsheviks after March 8, 1917 in Russia. If you go against them, then you go to the gulag or worse. So to survive you have to play ball.

Lower IQ people don’t understand DEI was the marxist battering ram.
White liberal karens with dyed blond hair benefitted the most from it.
Look it up if you don’t believe it.
Almost all the problems in the USA and maybe the world are caused by wealthy karens. Agreed?

Oh dear. You really have been brainwashed, haven’t you. Keep drinking that kool aid.

You probably think Trump won that election he lost by 5 million votes, and only came close because of the “disaster for a democracy” (Trump’s words, not mine) electoral college… and that the violent thugs he pardoned were political “hostages” who were “held without trial”.

Oh yeah. Those pesky Russian Bolsheviks and their DEI rainbow false equivalence crap. They were well known for that…

Also, the bolsheviks in Russia overthrew a tyrannical monarch… you know, a bit like those like those woke DEI Bolshevik commies in Boston throwing someone else’s tea in the sea, and then rebelling against the King?

But keep simping for King Donald. That’s different, right?

When is the last time you heard BLM mentioned on TV? Black history month came and went with barely a mention.
Rainbow June came and went with barely a mention… Where were all the rainbows? Where were all the rainbow products?
Well explain?

Lower IQ people use words like “marxist” with no idea of what it means.

Who told you that?

Are you familiar with the concept of “the burden of proof”?

While I’m not entirely sure that what you describe as “Karens” cause all the problems, I think we can agree that wealthy people do, whether they are “Karens” or not.

sounds like a racist / bigots

every single time someone calls someone else a DEI hire is because the person is black or woman to let us know they thinkg they are inferior

Regardless of your political feelings I’m sure everyone is very thankful in the direction Blizzard went. What would we ever do without these adorable $10 animations that are completely overpriced? I’m sure glad the main focus is stupid aesthetics. Gameplay is overrated lets focus on the gift we were blessed with. What would Hearthstone be without these useless $160 pets?

I posted a link with a master thesis written within a few years of 2025… I told you no one (them: I wouldn’t want to assume gender) would read it or understand

The only burden is using your eyes. It would take more effort to keep them shut.

Back to the topic on hand since everyone is taking this thread in a completely different direction.

As a Warlock main I agree there is an issue with the deck being overplayed but it’s mostly because every major youtuber and streamer is showcasing the deck which makes it where everyone wants to play it. Is it good? Yes. Is it beatable, also yes.

It could probably use a slight nerf but I’d be more worried the devs wouldn’t address the problem card, “cursed catacombs” and would instead direct focus to an older card, completely killing discard warlock as a whole.

If discard warlock is nerfed before big shaman, imbue mage, holy wrath paladin, or any of the other problem decks in wild then that’s an issue because the other problem decks should not go ignored in the format.

I have asked several times how to beat it. What card do I need to beat it by turn four.
On turn four they can draw their entire deck and definately by turn 5.
No one has told me what card I need in my deck to beat it by turn 4, which makes me suspect that there is no way to beat it.
I will now ask you what card I need to put in my deck to beat the worlack by turn 4.
Which is why I am making one of those decks.

The key is to take out early minions before it snowballs which depending on your deck might be difficult. Kill malchezar imp early, don’t let them keep a tiny knight on the board. Early board clears are crucial. Also pray they get a bad starting hand. Some games you draw a bad hand and don’t have a turn one play. Don’t let them establish an early board. Throw down minions to absorb soul barrage so it doesn’t just go face. Don’t just do nothing for four turns like some greedy priest decks. You have to act early and try to prevent minions from being buffed by whicked whispers. If you let them keep key minions on the board its basically gg.

It’s no different than totem shaman or shadow priest. Board clears are crucial to stop it.

I have a lot cards that can take out small cards but the problem seems to be they can run their neck in just a few turns. So there isn’t much play time.
You have up to turn 2 or 3. On turn 3 you might already be at 10 health or lower.
They seem to be able to cover the board in one turn. On turn 3 you have 3 mana crystals. What can a mage play?

If they have almost the entire board covered on turn 3, a mage doesn’t really have any spells that can wipe those cards out. On turn four they run their entire deck…
Most of the small spells cost 2 mana.

On turn 3 you you could hit one of their cards with a frost bolt that costs 2 mana. But they have the entire board covered and also they have those cards that have the spell in them that does damage everytime it gets discarded so if you destroy those cards then they have two of those cards to do that massive damage.

I’d say secrets are probably your biggest weapon but they can be predictable and fairly easy to play around if people know what they are doing. Occasionally you might get one or two newbies that don’t understand how to play around secrets. Secrets can be pretty strong for disruption though.
