Darkmoon Faire thing

anyone else here like 1 maybe 2 of those prizes look like something you’d want and then spin the wheel 4 times and not get either? Is this some sort of scam?

the prizes do have different odds on them, the king krush pet is the chase ultra rare that basically requires 9 or 10 spins to win, i got slightly lucky and got the ninja turtle legend signature which was one of the rarer ones out of my 4 or 5 spins i got golden pack, all the signature cards, and the card back. i wanted the hero skins but oh well. didn’t really want king krush pet anyway especially since i knew i wouldn’t be able to get it probably.

96% chance to require the 10 spins to get it, only 4% chance to get it in less than 10

IF you pulled 4 rewards already it still only is 0.3922%
It is scam in its purest form!

Pets could be so cool of and idea. But than get abused for this casino s.

Yeah even though I know that the hero skins are just pretty shinies I still wanted the Jaina hero skin and 6 spins in I’m already looking at like $40 to get that? Sure I got some other stuff, but didn’t want the other stuff so…

I don’t blame them because they look so similar, but it amuses me how many people including streamers keep saying Jaina skin when it’s actually Aegwynn an entirely new hero portrait. Think she is Medivh’s mother in lore.

She does just look like prenerfed Jaina in purple though when you look at the portraits side by side

Got the rogue turtle legendary signature on my free spin. All things considered I guess that’s a damn good outcome. Would have much preferred the mage skin though. But I’m not going to roll 5 more times hoping to get it because i don’t want any of the other stuff I’m far more likely to get.

It’s a really bad system…

I for one opened a case with FTC to review. I caught my 8 year old who plays heartstone regularly paying money to spin. I caught him on his 4th attempt thank bob! No where in the game play does it show stats, doesnt explain that each pull cost extra. When I grabbed him phone to click the “!” the site didnt load. I had to pull it up on my PC and was shocked. $160 my kid would have kept charging my account. I am a parent who supervises so I did catch it before it was a real problem. This is predatory at best. I hope they get sued off the wall for this.

Might want to be careful with this, they could counter with “Why was your 8 year old playing an ESRB rated T game?”

I only made 2 attempts, besides the free one and retired, mainly because i wanted the Hunter’s diamond card…

Did you end up getting it?

Yes, as said, it is a pure scam. Gambling and deception at its worst. You have to go to the description at the Hearthstone website to see the odds and have the costs explained.

Nope, i get the mage skin,
but is one of the classes that i play the least…

His phone or yours?

If he has access to your bank account on his phone, or unsupervised access to your phone (ever), you’re responsible. Sure, its a rip off, but that doesn’t remove your responsibility to make sure your child doesn’t empty your bank account.

Diamond Niri has a “weighting” of 14, giving you 14 chances to pull it for every chance of pulling King Crush. So still pretty terrible odds.

If you read up on it, you’ll see that although its marketed as “gambling”, (which is misleading and pretty disgusting in itself) the weighting system means that gambling has very little to do with it.

You’re effectively buying a bundle that costs $158, and if you want to buy just part of the bundle, you can expect to get the highest weighted (lowest value) items first. Any expectation of getting (one of the) chase item(s) before obtaining all the lower value items is extremely unlikely.

TBH, its a blatant case of “buyer beware”, and it is a disgrace that Blizzard attempt to suggest that you can pull the chase item(s) without buying most, if not all, of the bundle.
