Why is it the original team 5 who developed this game knew charge was a mistake after the first 2-3 expansions stopped making minions with this word. And even states openly they would no longer make charge minions due to it being a horrible design on their part.
But this current team 5 thought charge is an amazing idea and brought it back into the games design.
Case in point you DM who has multiple ways to cheat out charge pirates on the board with no way to stop them. I’m fine with rush minions as that was meant to be the middle ground for it. But dropping cheap charge minions and able to refill the board with more each turn that all go straight face is stupid.
And before anyone says rock, paper, scissors none sense. This game has moved so far away from that design now that’s it’s stupid to even say it. Controls long gone, so there goes your rock. It’s basically just face=scissors or maybe OTK=paper. So there it is, paper, scissors.
You can’t actually remove control or aggro. You can change how either one looks, but some decks will be weaker earlier than other decks while having increasingly certain victory the longer the game goes on. Combo is usually the ultimate control; attrition is not the only form of control.
You can’t remove paper rock scissors either. There will always be a deck that beats the deck that beats your deck. Again, you can change how each looks, but PRS can’t be eliminated.
Control is still there, I have had grindy games with DK for example, but yes, having 1/1 charge pirates today is a significant departure from the philosophy years ago.
What if charge minions had to go through taunt? That would be crazy. Or what if they make something called Secrets that are like Trap cards. They can nullify attacks or kill the charge minion or heck, even survive an attack that would kill you? That would be insane. I hope one day they implement such things to the game. Maybe they can even add hand disruption like take care of the charge minion before it can even be played. That would be OP and totally kill Charge keyword. One day…Ready to Ride?
They want things on the board and no one was playing the board because your threats are always too slow if you have to wait a turn for them to go face.
If you hate charge minions, start advocating for less face damage from spells, too.
I only imply that you don’t understand what I say or the sincere sarcasm with which I say it, for whatever reason, idk, that’s for you to tell. Happy to remind you Charge has to go through Taunt though.
You still don’t get I wasn’t even addressing your thoughts, I was reminded of something by the usage of the word taunt as I said when I first replied there.
I wasn’t saying “charge has to go through taunt” only btw; taunting is generally underrated in certain contexts; e.g. many rogue decks are sensitive to it.
Again, I believe I have to inform you that you have yet to even understand what I was doing in the first place. I wasn’t trying to fly so high in fact I was flying low, but I guess it’s still too far over your head to understand, in which case I pity you and I’m sorry for your circumstance.
Charge was a serious problem some time ago, and was pretty much removed from standard format when rush became a thing. However, since then, due to power creep, instant damage from charge is what aggro needs to be competitive, so charge is back.
Small charge minions aren’t too bad (1/1 pirates) but when buffed, they can be a serious problem, so pirates have ways to buff them, but you’re then into playing combos: you need a charge minion AND something to buff it.
As for bigger minions, I was very surprised to see Leeroy back in core (WTF Blizzard, are you serious !!11!1!!!, but there you go. Its a wincon for handbuff decks.
Playing HS successfully is all about anticipating what your opponent is doing. If you know he’s playing handbuff, you have to expect him to have Leeroy + Outfit Tailor in hand, and make sure that you have enough defence or HP/ Armour that he can’t just drop them for game.
Minion cards compete with spells and spells are kinda “charge”. They can directly go face, they just don’t have a body for the time after the “charge”.
