Celestial Alignment Kills all Corrupt Cards!

So, if you play the new card Celestial Alignment and now all cards in the game are effectively 1-cost then you have almost stopped your opponent from using the “corrupt” keyword. I guess there is 1 exception - discover/generate cards.

On the good side, this single card means there will be no more (or a lot less) Ticketus against Druid.

You also shut down your own corrupt cards. Druid gets some good ones and the ramp means they can corrupt them faster than anyone else.

Look at post rotation card generation/discover , don’t think it will change much , if anything its easier to find and play any 2cost or higher card , than corrupt normally during a match .

The card will probably not be competitive. It costs 7 and does nothing to affect the board.

Effectively it prevents opponent from playing ANY combo in the next several turns.

If you can get to 7 and still have ramp in hand you could get back up and do some seriously whacky stuff.

Will the mana crystals increase normally after returning to 0?

Yes, they always do if destroyed for any reason…1 per turn added each turn.

One would hope you build your own deck without corrupt cards if you run celestial alignment. Or as said below you hang onto a few discover cards.

the card was rated -1 by several former grandmasters when they did a card review today. there might be a niche deck that can utilize it but its most likely just a bad card

No, I generally agree, weak card… I was just surprised to see a card that almost negates an entire keyword.

Then again, maybe it powers it up rather than deletes it. One Nature’s Studies into a 3-mana spell will corrupt and entire hand of clowns, strongmen, etc.

It’s true and not true. What most people here are not really talking about is Discovering/resuffle cards. They reset the cost of the card or discover cards won’t be affect. So If they run a Discover card and discover a card that cost more then 1, then it’ll still corrupt. So this doesn’t shutdown all cards, and since most classes DO have way to discover/generate cards, they can still corrupt them.

Edit to add Examples of cards that might be run just to count this if this become “meta card” Which it won’t IMO - more of a meme card if anything or that random Yogg box.

1 might be held off til after the cast to just discover a card after - as this is just the 1st card hit, not an perm affect on the game state.

Some Other card to mention.

Mystery Winner, Pack Kodo, Wand Thief, Keywarden Ivory, Snack Run. Renew. Palm Reading, Shadowjeweler Hanar, Grand Empress Shek’zara. Marshspawn. Instructor Fireheart, Twisted Knowledge. Steward of Scrolls. Venomous Scorpid.

That just a few card that could be just “tech cards” to wait for Druid to play, and some of those cards are good by in general. So no this won’t kill Corrupt in standard or wild, if anything it make it easier for them and won’t stop their current game plans.

The most hurt’d class from this is Maybe Warrior and Demon Hunter as they lack the most useful minion or spell to discover. But in the End if they gold on their Studies card, they’ll be able to discover a slightly more card and then corrupt.

It’s also a 7 mana card that your opponent will benefit from before you do.

Exactly. Each player is set to 0 mana crystals so effectively your opponent gets to go first and play any card of their choice before you get to react.

I saw it get used once to great effect by playing it, getting ahead on board, and then playing the second copy to limit the opponent to only one card on their next turn. It made dealing with the board much more difficult.

I don’t remember who won the match. It’s in one of Regis’s videos if anyone is curious.

I am going to meme the -censored- out of this card. Can’t wait. Competitive decks are boring.
