Caverns of Time works as intended?

So I found out about CoT when this twist came online. I opened some CoT packs, crafted some cards and here are my 2 issues so far:

  1. I have 2 Jade Spirits from Gadgetan and 2 Jade Spirits of CoT, these do not show up when i filter “extra” or when i press the disenchant all button.
  2. Some standard cards (ex. Ship’s Chirurgeon, Acolyte of pain etc.) are not legal in Twist, but their CoT copies are legal in twist but not legal in Standard. So i must have 4 chirurgeon’s if i want to play them both in Twist and Standard?

I genuinely wonder if those things are intended, if they are going to change anytime or if it is what it is !

caverns of time doesnt have that many new cards from those rarities if you have all rares and commons youll start getting duplicates after only a few packs

First, some generic links for future reference:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NROP88Em5TA .

Probably a limitation of that functionality, since they are from separate sets after all.

[UPD] This explanation might be related and confirm the assumption above:

The video referenced above also mentions the point.

Are you referring to the Core versions (that Ship’s Chirurgeon in particular), which are illegal in current Twist?

You sort of have them automatically in Standard.

The Acolyte of Pain is a bit trickier, since it has three versions:

(From the Legacy set, EXPERT1 in particular, if memory serves)

You can use either a Legacy or a COT version in Twist and a Core version in Standard. However, after some testing, I realised that the last-named is also usable in Twist for some reason, which may be an oversight or a complication.

Oh, nevermind, I dug up this:

There’s also another link from there: Acolyte of pain legacy cannot be used in twist .

So this particular card might be a painful exception.

[UPD] Or it would seem that some Core cards are usable if they mirror cards from certain sets legal in Twist, but not all of them. For example, Core mirrors of some Legacy Druid cards or Feral Rage can be added to a Twist deck, but a Core version of Raven Idol cannot. This whole shebang appears messy, inconsistent and probably buggy.

Thanks for pointing this out, after some investigation I realised that it’s even more messy than I thought. :grinning:

Maybe a bug should be filed.

PS Done: Some, but not all, Core versions of cards usable in Twist.

There also used to be this complex of issues: Caverns of time not usable in twist .

What’s this got to do with the TS’s questions? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Wow that is such a detailed answer! Thanks for clarifying everything! The general CoT idea seems messy but i guess it will only get better since it is a new addition to the game!

You’re an optimist, my friend.

Twist looks like a mode on its way to abandonment, and the whole ‘Wonders’ shebang, CoT being a part of the concept in a way, is already a reuse of the format’s previous iteration, so if anything, the situation with it all, while the mode still lasts, might get even more messy — or already has…

That’s because Gadgetzan and Caverns of Time are different sets.

Filtering for “extra” will only show excess cards within the same set.
