Am I missing something with this deck … mind as well play regular Sif Mage which is better.
If you don’t draw the Energy Shaper what do you even do, the deck has no removal to deal with Aggro, no good one-target removal, runs Reverberations for some reason which is horrible in this meta, can’t pressure Warrior or any deck for that matter. Always on the defence, can’t create a big board, barely any card draw to get your key cards etc.
Is this just a hype deck and will die down, because nobody can tell me this is better than regular Sif Mage.
I am gonna link the decks I use so tell me if I just have a bad list, but I don’t see the hype over Casino Mage at all, if anything it’s a very bad deck. Everything relies on Energy Shaper, if you get unlucky and don’t get him you lose.
This would make the deck lose all its competitiveness.
If you don’t kill your opponent with the RNG do you just concede
?
Sif is there as a backup plan, it’s needed in the deck.
I will take this as you telling me to utilize the generated discounted cards to the max, which I do.
The point is, even if you do do that there are a lot of Spells, not everything deals face damage, and not everything creates big boards. Being able to chip your opponent to 0 through this alone is wishful thinking.
I don’t think that’s a good list tbh. Frozen touch and the 2-mana coin dude are often going to be bad draws and leave you with nothing good to do. I believe the excavate package is better too.
It also generally is just a difficult deck to play. Not trying to say you’re bad, just that there might be a combination of a weaker list and being still behind the learning curve of the archetype generally. You can see from HSReplay how the deck is barely on the 50% WR in legend; but it hovers at tier 1-2 in top1000. There’s a steeper skill curve than with other decks here. You might want to wait and see if:
A: the deck is overhyped and indeed falls off
B: the correct lists start propagating more.
Or refine your own list with what you feel does better or worse and keep insisting regardless of WR. I remember when Nathria-meta miracle rogue was so broken I took it for a spin and I couldn’t believe what the fuss was about. I had to truly bang my head against a wall losing with it until I slowly got better at it and I got to a point where I have never been as high in rank ever since. Not saying this is going to happen with this deck (most def not in fact), just saying that sometimes the learning curve is hard to notice and definitely is there.
The point of not drawing Shaper is definitely true tho. Some games feel a bit miserable when you never draw it.
I also don’t think Sif belongs in that deck, as it’s pretty rare you get burn spells which you can keep for a Sif combo while at the same time dealing with the board and putting value down, but I guess it’s a decent win condition in case you don’t draw the Energy Shaper
And yeah, it’s called casino for a reason xD
Trigger enough RNG and you’re bound to get something that straight up wins you the game sooner or later, that’s the name of the game here
I disagree. I think it most definitely belongs in the deck. As OP said above, without it you just rely on pure RNG and shaper for a win and that is not consistent. You need the plan B and Sif is still as broken as ever.
If you want to gamble minami go ahead, but don’t come here telling me removing Sif will make the deck better.
I am not refuting anything, but I will just say that this is the list pocket_train used in Top Legend.
It’s possible I haven’t truly grasped it but I believe I can grasp the way a deck plays out to realize if the list/deck is bad.
Everything simply comes down to the Energy Shaper and with only Wisdom of Norgannon for card draw to get to it, if you don’t draw it by 6 mind as well concede and go next.
I agree, that’s why I made this to see other’s opinions.
Obv pocket_train playing it in Top 10 Legend implies that there is something I am missing.
I’ll see, I might persevere with it or just change, thanks for the advice though.
Well that gives some merit to the list tbh but I think frozen touch smells iffy. I’d argue pocket is probably the best player there is rn, but I don’t trust his deck-building as much as his gameplay lol
Definitely, good deck building and good piloting skills do not always go together.
Further, this list might be especially good for the top of the top of Legend, pretty sure pocket_train is ranked in the top 10 so it’s fair to assume that this list was specially created for that area.
