the card backs in hearthstone are one of the really fun features of the game. However, we can hardly see our own card backs to enjoy them while playing the game.
Has there been any effort to make it so a player could see their own card back beyond just the top half of the card in the deck?

You know I’ve actually had the same thought. I’ve also sometimes seen a card back on my opponent’s cards and wished I could see the full information on where it came from/how to get it. It would be a nice feature if they could do a mouse-over animation for the deck. If you hold your finger/mouse over the deck you see the full card back in game, if you hold your finger/mouse over your opponents deck you see the card back and info on how/where to get it, kinda like the pop up explanations for “Echo” or “Spellburst.”

It would be kinda neat to have a “used cards” pile on the opposite side of the board from your deck, where you keep the cards you’ve used upside down. A 100% cosmetic implementation (meaning you don’t add gameplay interactions with it) would allow you to have your card back visible throughout the game.

I always think the same thing. But I wonder, what if they were to swap the backs. What I mean is the back of your’s would display on your opponents cards and theirs on yours. I think that would work.
Because there are a number of card backs that I frankly will never use. Some of them are just down right… not my style.
No. But it can be done very easy by rotating the deck. So you can see the back. They have to rework also the shuffle animations.
Max - I like the idea a lot. In fact I feel like the discard pile is an area that Hearthstone has yet to delve into. They should make more cards that affect discard piles, like ways to clear your opponent’s discard pile (a res priest killer) or ways to draw the last/first card put into the discard pile. There are one or two ways to interact with the discard now but they are few and far between. I feel like this is coming in future expansions. My only issue with your idea is a problem of real-estate. There isn’t much space on the screen to actually show a discard pile, and as you said it would be purely aesthetic. But, it would solve the card back issue. Maybe they could put it on the left and show it when you mouse over?
