Cannot get into a match at all after 29.4

After the 29.4 patch, everything was working fine on May 14th. However now on May 15th, my client seems to have completely deteriorated, and almost nothing seems to work.

1/a. When trying to get into a match, this screen shows up for about 1-2 minutes:

1/c. And pressing “OK” puts my game into an unplayable state (nothing can be interacted with anymore), so I am forced to restart the game:

No matter how many times I restart my game, the above issue happens.

2/a. Moreover, several buttons don’t work at all, for example the “My Collection” button inside the “Hearthstone” menu brings me to this screen indefinitely:

2/b. The “Hearthstone”, “Battlegrounds”, and “Modes” buttons do not work most of the time. The “Tavern Brawl” button seems to be fine. Inside the “Hearthstone” menu, the “Back” button also seems to randomly stop functioning sometimes.

I have reinstalled the game twice now, but that did not fix the issue. The 2nd time I made sure everything is deleted from my PC’s C:\Program Files (x86)\Hearthstone folder, so nothing remains cached.

I have also used the “Scan and Repair” feature from Battle.net, which has returned that there were no issues found.

Both times after reinstalling the game, I was able to get into 1 match (painfully), since the game still froze on the 1/a screen, and only after restarting the client did I manage to get into a game. However any consecutive games cannot be initiated at all.

Operating system: Windows 10 Home
Processor: Intel(R) Core™ i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz 3.20 GHz
RAM: 8,00 GB DDR3
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super

Note: The game has been working fine since 2014 (I’ve started playing in Naxxramas).

Note 2: It seems the issue may be caused by getting Legend in Twist in March 2024.

I am having a very similar issue with not being able to play since the update. I know Blizzard is just a small indy company but damn…

I’m having the same problem. Seems to have something to do with reaching Legend in Twist the last Twist season. Really sucks that they haven’t fixed it. I lost an arena run. Technical support just gave me a completely generic response saying it was a problem on my end.

Good to know. I did reach Legend in the last Twist season, so I suppose it’s the same problem.

Edit (05/18): The issue seems to be fixed now, I was able to get into multiple games today. Thank you to the random dev that took their time and silently fixed it!
