I am currently playing Rogue and always wondering why you guys nerfed all of their cards such as Cold Blood and Preparation. Instead now they are some kind of weird secret class or have to use a Legendary weapon I haven’t gotten yet. I can no longer combo with Preparation because I keep forgetting that it reduces spell costs by only 2 mana and with cold blood nerf I can no longer Leeroy shadowstep + Cold blood… Yet I am facing an opponent who can heal for 24 health and then play ridiculous cards (Warlock, Priest, Mage with extra turn + reno) yet I can’t get a simple 3 card combo?
I never play Reno in wild or standard yet every time my opponent does they seem to get a full refresh and I usually lose 80% of the time. As common as these decks are on wild one would think there would be a mode to ban that card altogether. It’s extremely unfair and imbalanced especially when Priests use it… Forget the fact that I have to draw into a secret to use blackjack stunner or pop a mad scientist, or that I have to use sap or vanish to get past ridiculous taunts (Hello Warlock), there’s just too many scenarios that are imbalanced to justify nerfing Rogue so hard and allowing Reno.
I tried making miracle rogue work (the old iteration with gagetzan auctioneer, conceals, questing adventurers, leeroy + cold blood as finisher) in Wild and it was super trash
Wild is full of control and highlander decks, mostly priest versions. Everyone in Wild is someone who loves playing a version of solitaire with their near-infinite single and aoe removal while you draw through your whole deck to accomplish nothing, while they pretend they are making big brain plays
Unless you have a way to generate near infinite value (which can be done but needs specific decks), have decks that put something into their deck to mess up their highlander cards, or want to play some hyper aggro, you are just going to be fodder for all the control decks in Wild
Anyway, Wild is crap. It’ll never be balanced. May as well dust your rotated cards and stay in standard
I hear what you’re saying. There is literally no hope for home brew decks at Diamond (Edit) rank. I get eatin’ alive in Diamond (Edit) ranks it’s like being trapped in a torture chamber. For example, I almost always get roped, or my opponent’s are so difficult that the only possible way to ever win would be for them to just concede. I don’t want to sound crazy, but it certainly feels like I am being gang stalked so people can farm me. Either that or they are bots that Blizz wont ban.
I mean I come back after taking month breaks and I still queue in to this Dizzy Dwarf guy (who I can defeat just fine) and it’s a little strange that even after a few months of not playing he’s still there. It must be a bot. I also queued in to a rope warrior who had nothing but taunt minions in his deck and just armored up to like 60 armor… which I even killed, but man it was a colossal waste of time. What gives?
Why do they allow abuse to players like this? The game is fun until you get to platinum then it’s just an unbelievably horrid experience. You know I’d like to get some of the new 1000 win portraits, but I don’t really have the dust to make a standard deck that can compete. I mean I have plenty of other cards… but boy what a blatant FU to your long time players.
It makes me feel horrible. So I quit playing again for now, but what keeps me coming back is that I do have fun using my own decks and not always net decking everyone elses. The scaling is so one-sided here. Then in standard there are so many good cards you can’t even use because they’re wild only.
IDK, I got to Platinum in Wild with a homebrew Highlander Quest Druid, then yeah, with a help of a Quest mage, I got to Diamond. There, I was playing Greybough Druid to finish the achievement and got some hilarious wins - well, not so hilarious for the opponent I guess. The last opponent was a Res Priest who was unable to handle my zillions of Greyboughs, even though they resurrected tons of their Obsidian Statues and Bloods of G’huun.
Standard, on the other hand, is damn hard and boring. Got to Platinum 7 only so far with a Pure Paladin.
Next month I would recommend staying in a particular rank range where your decks do better. How do you stay at that range? By auto-conceding games at the start if you win too many in a row. Yes I am talking about deliberately losing. It will be much easier to farm wins for portraits in silver and gold than plat/Diamond/legend depending on your decks. This is somewhat of an abuse of the system but it’s one that actually helps your opponents and makes them happy versus exploiting XP farming with those taunt warrior bots that only anger the community
Also note, the rank 10 floors are typically for more experimental decks. So whether you decide to sit at silver or gold, sit at the rank 10 floor, NOT the rank 5 floor. You will see people trying to push rank with T1 meta decks much more at rank 5 floors
But what about season reward packs? This is where you can choose to go harder, but make it be in the second half of the month, ideally maybe even in the last week. Switch to a T1 meta deck and then push for your max rank for max pack rewards towards the end of the season
I would recommend budget pure paladin (maybe would only require around 2k dust in epics), or budget evolve shaman (also super cheap, around 2k to make). Both are faceroll easy to play and can for sure get to Diamond or legend. I have both budget versions of these due to being a poor player like you and I can list you mine if you can’t find a list online. I easily got to Diamond with them already
Glad someone spoke up about this ridiculous card,
believe me I’ve been tempted.
Firmly falls under the category of “What the hell were they thinking?” when this card got created.
I’m sure people who use it will defend it remaining in the game, because it is absurdly-powerful and yeah of course people like that.
But is saps the fun right out of the game. Seriously, ya shouldn’t have to defeat someone -twice- to get -one- win, which is what this card inevitably causes.
(at least credit people with 2 wins when/IF they win against it)
We all like powerful cards, but there should be no single card that completely turns the game upside-down all by itself.
Priest have a better version of Reno Jackson in their death Rattle quest. It heals them, increases Life to 40 and even has taunt and 8/8. Priest can also generate many Renos and play them in a row.
That all feels horible.
Remember, they barely balance for wild, Reno is a wild card, prep and cold blood are basic cards that will always be available in standard. Cold blood and prep were nerfed because those 2 cards were way too strong at a certain point in standard/tournament decks
add Ambush X2 to your deck and Reno up is nullify…Albatros is not reliable for aggro deck so dont run it…you can play Darkness but not the best choice for Aggro rogue either
or you can play bomb warrior and shuffle bomb doing insane damage and also nullifying reno from working
but if i was you i’d be more concern about big rez priest…million huge 22/22 or more stats taunt walls and if they know how to play your not touching them early game at all
Does not matter. You have reached your true rank. As long as you dont belong to Legend, you won’t get there. It’s so simple…
Not everyone can be #1
Just stay in gold if the game is fun there
Can I guess that you stopped playing for four years and are now coming back to the game?
The devs are not going to answer your questions about Rogue nerfs.
Cold Blood and Prep were nerfed because Raiding Party made Rogue be able to quickly draw, play, and buff pirates; along with crazy Edwins and Kingsbane.
You have this expectation of this being a Rogue problem, but have you noticed that nobody is trying to play old school Zoo Warlock, Freeze Mage, or Secret Paladin? The point of eternal formats isn’t for decks to remain eternally competitive.
Rogue is in a bad spot, but it’s not because of Reno, it’s because Odd Paladin, Secret Mage, and Aggro Druid all got stronger in Darkmoon.
Kingsbane has been a thing for 3 years. And it’s pretty good. Not the best deck because of all those above mentioned decks, but it’s way better than trying some kind of Miracle deck.
One more time: Reno won’t save you in Wild - he is EASILY outdamaged.
If your deck can’t kill a Reno player, it also cannot kill a Warrior/Druid with armor nor a lifestealing Warlock, not even a Healing Paladin.
You need to make changes, adapt or find a new deck.
Except Reno Priest, all other Reno Decks are trash in this current meta.
And seems reasonable to not ask for something like this.
If they bann Reno for you, and Rogues for me, and DH for somebody else, what;s left?
Miracle Rogue is probably not as straightforward as combo face damage with Leeroy + Cold Bloods anymore.
Maybe something like this (it’s Standard but you could change a bunch of stuff): https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/decks/secret-miracle-rogue-20-legend-gregoriusil-darkmoon/
