The light glanced off my tablet, showing greasy lines radiating out from where my cards sit, and a second set of lines radiating out from where the enemy hero sits. It’s uncanny. An uncanny crosshatch.
Those lines seem like grooves. They may turn into grooves in time. Can playing Hearthstone wear out my touchscreen?
Or will Hearthstone bloat mean I’ll have to buy another newer, faster, iPad, with more memory, to keep running it before this happens? I’m already on my third iPad because Hearthstone stopped working on the earlier ones. It’s forced obsolescence.
You may end up needing a new phone eventually, but that’s true for all apps. It’s impossible to both add features and maintain a memory footprint that supports old devices. Even if your own app stays fairly stable, others do not so your memory usage becomes too much over time unless you’re the most used app and they’re willing to uninstall others.
As for screen damage, Hearthstone cannot cause that. If you see grooves appearing on your screen I recommend not pressing as hard. If it’s just greasy lines, get a good screen cleaner and use if fairly often.

A good rule of thumb is you should upgrade devices periodically anyways. All tech devices are trash these days as nothings really built to last but in the plus side it’s cheap and easy to get a new device. I commonly upgrade phones 3x a year just because I can.
you’re certainly doing your part to help make these devices literal trash
Yes in the current hearthstone state it can. If your opponent draws something good in the mulligan and you have no counter by turn 2 it can damage your touch screen.
This is the state of HS.
The real damage to the touchscreen is being caused by all those exploding heroes.
