Bring Back Prince Renathal to Standard for a Healthier Meta

Prince Renathal introduced a refreshing layer of creativity and strategic depth to Hearthstone’s Standard format, allowing players to experiment with unique 40-card decks and different playstyles. His 40-health starting point gave control players a solid foundation to face aggressive decks, creating a balanced experience that appealed to a wide range of players. By removing him, the Standard format loses not only variety but also a key counterbalance to the fast-paced, aggressive decks that currently dominate.

Renathal’s presence promoted deck diversity, enabling players to explore slower, control-oriented builds and avoid the repetitive nature of quick matches. This variety in gameplay helps keep Hearthstone engaging and enjoyable for players who prefer longer, more strategic games. Without him, the meta risks becoming narrower and less interesting, as fewer viable archetypes remain in the competitive landscape.

Additionally, Prince Renathal fosters a sense of player agency, letting us build around unique cards that can define entire deck strategies. By reintroducing him, Blizzard would not only satisfy a large portion of the community but also encourage a more balanced, dynamic meta that retains players and prevents burnout from overly similar matchups.

I, along with many others in the community, believe that bringing Prince Renathal back to Standard would enhance player engagement and support a healthier, more balanced format. Please consider reintroducing him to keep Hearthstone.

No, thank you. I’ve had enough of him for a while

you don’t have the numbers, they do! If it were true then we will see him in the 2025 core set as it would promote a YEAR of “enhanced player engagement…”

I find him to be best in spurts, honestly as bad of a job that they have done with twist they could just remove that mode and put in a “Renathal mode” or something where players build a 40 card deck(no renathal needed) and have 40 hp

Yes! I get enough of him in wild. I don’t need him to be in both formats

I’m super happy he is gone. Now they need to remove Reno and Zilliax, and the game will be in the healthiest condition it’s been in for a very long time.

Doesn’t matter really, the games are usually over by turn 5 anyhow. Game is fundamentally broken from power creep.

That’s what the post is saying. When both decks have the Prince you can have a longer game. I’ve enjoyed some great games where the balance of power has changed a number of times and goes way longer than 5 turns. Quite frankly I’m stunned at this card being targeted as opposed to cards that create never-ending loops. 40 health is obviously an advantage but the larger deck means you have less chance to draw the card you need. Balances out. Plus if you both have the card then there’s no health advantage anyway.

You imply all decks CAN go late game. An aggro deck is just dead if it doesn’t do its job by round ~7. That card was killing most archetypes that run out of steam fast; you can claim you like killing decks that run out of steam fast; but you might also claim you want to automatically win too.

Renathal should return as a CORE card,

… with a catch … 0 health increase.

No, Renethal should go back into the trash can where it belongs… it was good for only one thing, to mess up the meta and make slow decks fail even harder than before… it was completely impossible to win with any slower decks until this crap was in the core again… it was madness… not healthy… Absolutely no! Renthal had his time… it has no place in the standard anymore.

Maybe, but I thought it would be funny on +0 health. It would handicap almost everyone using the card in their deck (maybe with the exception of milling in Wild).

ahhh yeah… no. I don’t think the new blood dk needs an additional 10 health on top of their 60. Thanks, but no thanks.

I see people still have him and I do not know how? it is either there or not ??!!

Wrong it is both there and not
Not a standard card but
If you play wild it is there but you need the Nathria one, open one pack from “Murder at castle nathria” to acquire

by healthy condition, do you mean filled to the brim with OTK and aggro? Because those decks suck to play against.

At least you can play against it instead of just watching your board being cleared over and over again until TNT deletes your deck or 15 ressurections of Zilliax bring your opponent back to full HP, no matter how well you played to bring him down.

I just got back into hearthstone, I built two decks that mainly use him, that was 5 days ago, to now notice both decks cannot be played.
Mind you I deleted all my previous cards to build said decks and am left with no gold and no dust, feels amazing.

I made a thread not long ago, I think health needs a buff in general. The power level is off the charts compare what we had in the early HS lifespan and we never got a basic health increase.
Also we need new hero powers too. Pressing the button o turn two means you lost already.

You have to be realistic about Blizzard and hearthstone. The large majority of the player base and the devs want a quick fast easier game where control doesn’t exist becouse it doesn’t appeal to the casual players that like to win without much thought and need to play fast netdecks to achieve this. Putting a control card in like Prince Ren forces those people to either think, or quit. Now because these people arw the larger majority Blizzard need to keep them happy because its the casuals that spend the most, as people like myself haven’t spent a penny on HS in years except for either portraits or if we want the extra xp from the reward track.

Its a shame, but thats just the reality of business and the player base.

Very good answer. Aggro and toxic players hate Ranathal

Except in wild you have players with 1000 armour and never ending battle cries.
