BG battle animations can take FOREVER sometimes - reborn, deathrattles, buffs (banana slamma, T4 & T5 undeads, etc.). This gets compounded if you face a similar comp, so each player has to watch ALL of these effects.
On top of that, if you stack accord-o-trons, you have to watch coins fly until your gold is calculated. Plus end of turn effects like quills, mechs, murlocs, demons. And now we have trinkets which can also delay your turn (e.g. Wheel of Yogg).
On top of all that, if you play on mobile (like myself), APM builds are basically a pipe dream and not even worth trying IMO.
I have no experience with game coding/programming - I just dabble in Excel - but for crying out loud, it’s 2024. Hearthstone has evolved FAR from where it began. Many new keywords, game modes, regularly rotating, creating, and balancing new/old cards. I think it’s LONG overdue to add a “Skip Battle Animations” button/function to BG’s.
I’ve lost track how many times my game has crashed as I attempted to log out-then-in, just trying to give myself a fighting chance on the next turn to roll, buy, and build my warband efficiently, and ultimately find a new game. I’ve given up trying now as it’s not worth the risk, IMO.
I don’t care about my MMR - I just recently reached 4k. If I don’t like the tribes and/or heroes offered to me, I’ll just quit and find a new lobby. I don’t care about climbing ranks - I just want to try and enjoy whichever game I join. Part of that enjoyment, to me, is having enough time to roll, buy, and build my warband, instead of frantically rolling, selling, buying, positioning, and still having 5 or 10+ gold remaining and/or my warband not built/positioned correctly because I had to sit through all the aforementioned effects. All the battles ensue at the same time for every player - why should my decision, or theirs, whether or not to watch the animations really matter? If I /they want to watch, we will - if we dont, we’ll skip - but the battle(s) always commence at the same time for everyone.
As I said earlier, it’s 2024 (nearly 2025) and Hearthstone has evolved FAR from its origins. With all the innovations and changes this game has seen, if people say this is not possible to implement, I don’t buy it. We now hold computers in the palms of our hands, cars don’t need gasoline to drive, and we can even see the far reaches of space - but we still don’t have a “Skip Battle Animations” button.
Seriously, get with the times.
