The animations in battlegrounds have caused several losses for me so far.
When you only have 60 seconds, and are playing a mill strategy like “Fungalmancer Flurgl + Brann Bronzebeard” you can loose your entire turn to pointlessly drawn out battlecry/discover/card-movement animations, have half your team turn into triples, return to your hand, and be unable to be played in time.
The turns are not full turns like in regular hearthstone, so the animations should not be the same either.
Either the animation times need to be drastically reduced, or there needs to be a time extension based on activity. Since there is up to 7 other people playing the same game, I doubt extensions are the way to go. Unless the long animation times are masking slow server communication? I dunno.
( P.S. also, why don’t we have an end-turn button? for those 90 second turns where everyone only does 1 thing. e.g. If we all press the button, the next round starts. )
( P.P.S. WHY IS THERE NO SQUELCH BUTTON FOR THE GOD DAMN INNKEEPER!?! or am I blind? )

Not gonna happen. They don’t care. Otherwise, cheaters who use exploit to skip animations would be banned instead of prospering.

Rounds are predetermined not sure why there are animations at all

Because appearances are important to alter people’s perception.

if it bothers you so much turn down the sound or off … wild guess it’s not that big of a deal I have music on anyways.
With no animations how will we know what just happened? That’s part of the spectacle. There is nothing for us to spectate then. Just to get a notification that we won or lost the battle? It’s also good to see HOW you lost, so you learn how to place your minions and how to counter others. What are the possible combinations of attacks vs. different warbands, ect.
say should let us toggle animations on or off
(but would like faster animation)
Every match is pre determined so not really much you can do if the game decided you already lost
But you can learn better placement strategies by watching.
We all should demand an option to desable ALL ANIMATIONS incluiding board animations!
it would make BGS better and people with low powered phones could play
While i understand how animations in BG can be a huge pain for either low internet connections or low powered devices … they can’t and shouldn’t give the option to skip them … it’s actually a big part of the experience because without animations, everyone has a 90seg. time limit and the guy playing pirates would be unstoppable (we are seeing that with the Firewall glitch that needs to be addressed).
It would also make the game less fun, there is something satisfying about watching a huge cleave taking out 2 or 3 minions.
Difficult topic, but i don’t think they should dissappear, maybe make them super fast, but i don’t know …
NO, the laggy animations and losses because them is the worst kind os experience.
While people with low devices get frustrated losing their turns or seeing the game run in 12 FPS …
Its not health to spend 2-3 hours in front of celphone watching 10-14 fps
You basically wrote the same thing i did … it’s a pain for those with low level devices and low internet connections … i can’t play BGs on my phone so i definitely agree… with that being said, animations are, sadly a big part of the experience and IMO they shouldn’t remove them.
I’m not talking about the animations in combat. I care about the time animations take in the tavern screen. Coming back to this post after 2 weeks of play, I’ve lost plenty of games because a major card gets turned into 3 without time to drop it into play.
I don’t care to watch it slowly turn 3 cards into 1 card, then slowly drop into my inventory, then need to be played slowly, then slowly put a discover card into my hand, then handle it’s battle cry slowly. CLICK CLICK CLICK, it should be done in half a second.
Because in end game after doing that, I still need to cast the discover card, sell 2 minions, refresh the inventory 5 times, buy 3 other minions, and handle their effects/goldens/discovers.
I literally do not have time to do all that with what is left after combat. Especially when running a build like Macaw-Goldrinn-Rivendare against divine shielded mini-mechs.
And to reiterate since people are all talking about combat animations, they are fine.
I don’t care if I burn 90 seconds of the 120 in combat, leaving me with just 30 seconds; AS LONG AS THE TAVERN ANIMATIONS DON’T TAKE LONGER THAN THE 30 SECONDS I HAVE LEFT. That is my complaint.
