Sometimes combat takes 20 or 30 seconds longer than other times. If you have a buy/sell 20 things per turn build like pirates or murlocs you do not have enough time to take your turn in the tavern phase, especially if combat goes long.
Those of us who play a lot of battlegrounds, well… I’ll just speak for myself, I play a lot of battlegrounds, and I intentionally disconnect just before the beginning of combat then reconnect after it has started so I can get more time in the shop and skip the combat phase. (this isn’t a great work around because often it puts my game out of sync with the timer and occasionally I end up not finishing under the clock…)
If I need to see a combat because of a specific hero pick I have or I need to counter someone’s build I’ll watch. But it’s very rare. Regardless, this issue is solved with making the “end turn” button a resolve/skip combat button for battlegrounds.
Please and thank you.

Yeah … this is probably the absolute worst anyone can do in order to get more time, this doesn’t even qualify as a fix for your initial problem with the timer, this is far, far worst … you will either get more time, around 100 seconds which are a lot for a normal BG turn unless you are playing Infinite Pirates or get below 30 seconds for a turn … so yeah, while i agree that an skip animations could do wonders for the game like they do in the mobile version, you should not ever, ever disconnect on purpose.

I’d rather read an article on my phone for 90 seconds than stare at a screen that does nothing for me.

Restart the client or play it as it is meant to. The turn timers are part of the game. If you have bad APM then you can not play some styles of play. Accept it.
a better fix would be to extend that timer by 2 sec everytime a player buy and sell a minion…the game would only count the player that does maximum purchase//sales or maybe add a button for bonus time of 18 sec if a player request it after buying//selling 8 or more minions(combined)
They should have a “ready” button for if you’ve completed your transactions early. That way if everyone is finished before the timer, you don’t have to wait…
This was actually internally tested, and it was concluded that there would always be at least one person who wouldn’t press it for some reason or another, so they removed the feature.
Ah I see. I can certainly see how some players would deliberately run out the clock as a tactic etc. but that surely wouldn’t happen every time. Even if 1 in 10 games had an occasion whereby everyone was ready early, we’d be better off than now where we have to wait all the time?..
The fix should be that the Bob portion starts at exactly the same time for all players.

They should just put a link to the firewall exploit instructions on the hearthstone homepage.
This sounds like it would cause even more of a wait for those who have a quick combat. They would have to wait for the longer combats to finish before everyone commenced the recruitment phase?
I think it would be fair, wouldn’t you? In the current system, people use an exploit so they just skip the combat phase and are able to perform more actions in the Bob phase compared to players who don’t use the exploit.
can not or else it cause major problems
let started with fact watching battles to find weakness in your Foes boards also you and your Foe got same time make moves at same time to so if skipping give someone advantage then Foe will ignore a request to skip also if you Skip then how know what wrong with board if you loose?
over all skipping a bad idea
I think it does solve exploit problem but in doing so it makes the game that little bit worse by increasing wait times even more. If it were possible, I would just boot anyone who disconnects.
Personally I like watching the combat and find it interesting seeing how different strats play out. I also like that sometimes you don’t quite get enough time in the Bob phase - it makes the game a little more unpredictable by making people play under pressure.
My original input (which is not strictly what this thread is about a I know) was to have a “ready” button for if you finish Bob early. Maybe a combination of both ideas might work - so that time lost waiting for all combat to finish, can be made up by ending the recruitment quicker…?
A lot of people have shotty internet connections.
Once in a while I get a 1 second boot as if I had used a firewall exploit. It would be fine with me if that just ended the game for me, but a good number of people would complain.

I guess that would just come down to what Blizzard considered to be the biggest problem - people taking advantage, or punishing those with genuine disconnects. It may sound insensitive but if you (not you personally Lugnut) choose to play an online PVP game and have a dodgy internet connection, then you have to expect some boots.
It seems to me that the combat is a necessary part for making sure all players get their time in the tavern, but you point out a good flaw.
Suppose that the server can anticipate how long the shortest battle will probably be, updating it’s estimate live, and accordingly fast-forward the combat of other battles so that they all end at roughly the same time?
