Battlegrounds Card Algorithm

Your question is quite legitimate. I know this post is over 1 year old but it’s the same now. I’ve had games with over 100 rolls nobody had brann or baron ( 2 different games ) and i didn’t get even 1 of them. Many games you’ll see in top 4 atleast 2 with same tribe ( had a game top 4 all were quillboars ?! ) . Game clearly forces at times tribes while ignoring others. The RNG is clearly inconsistent as fk. And whoever say “ don’t force” sure. However in this meta you see often streamers be like “oh i’ll roll for this” and nearly every time they get it. You see people LITERALLY force the strongest comp like naga or murlocs and get it. There clearly is some weird shenanigans and inconsistency in how the game works and people refuse to question it

Tier 5 minions have always been notoriously hard to find because they had for the longest time no real way to search out specifically into tier 5 unless you sat on 4 and made triples(which is a terrible idea).

That’s why this tavern spell was created.

It’s also a balancing factor to put into the game in order to keep extremely powerful cards hard to find.

Tier 6 are much easier to find because all you need to do is be on tier 5 or 6 and you can make triples to find what you need. Tier 1-4 there are so many copies that it’s not difficult to find them early on.

You don’t want everyone to have easy access to a card like Brann, which is the best minion you can take in BG’s regardless of anything else.

Out of all the crap thats been said in this thread, theres only 1 thing clear, BGs are just like the casino, you are not playing against the players, you are playing against the house.

Welcome to the land of opinions. Getting trash chance always sucks. This meta you can usually top 4 in solos if you grab all the cards that pump tavern spells. There are enough of them or enough combos with them that you can usually hold on long enough to not lose rank while the high rollers wipe the board.

To the original to add.

There is this thing called clustering in random events. A long sequence of head tails will have clusters of heads and tails.

People tend to underestimate clustering in general but my thesis is hs rng shows more clustering then is expected.

Thats how you get 3xthe exact same 1/200 outcome in a row in a broadcasted event for everyone to see. Yes this has happened.

So you not seeing naga might mean that noone is seeing naga in de lobby. Naga is underrepresented in general in this lobby so noone is playing it. It happens naturally. And with excessive clustering due to “funny” rng it will happen more.

Whats worse is the lobby creator still beeing favored to get the ghost resulting in a massive advantage worth several 1000 mmr. The whole internal matchmaking in a lobby is extremely messed up.

I challenge blizz to fix this. I can already predict which players gonna rage quit when they are no longer favored by the matchmaking inside a lobby. And i cant blame them, because it is indeed a horrible experience.

Higher rated players have a higher chance to be lobby creator. The lobbys are build around high rated players. They then get the advantage of the ghost, which boosts their rating.

Thats how decent/good players with like 8k-9k internal mmr get to 14k. 5k-6k free mmr from a combination of grinding and beeing favored to get the ghost.

The ghost advantage is massive, its easily 1 spot in the lobby rank on average and probably more (I have seen it make the difference between 8th and 2nd on stream). So instead of going say 4-5-7. You go 3-4-6 Or like 4-4-2. You do the math on what this means for elo in long run.

Hard to argue against something we do know is true. I myself wish it was changed as to who gets the ghost and most of the top players feel the same way and express that opinion often. At least they changed the matchmaking system so you don’t get the same players before the first person goes out. That was actually a pretty big change.
