Bans We Need to See in Wild

Honestly, pretty sick of seeing combos in Wild that basically just make it so you can’t play the game. Rommath/ Waygate, Shudderwock, Guff/ Floop’s Glorious Floop. ALL of these cards cause game states that still make Wild miserable. I think any of these cards in a limited format are more or less fine, like if we brought any of them back into Standard or Twist I think they’d be strong but in Wild it’s just miserable to play against in combination with the other cards available in Wild that lead to infinite loops causing your opponent to literally not play any cards (in the case of Shudderwock).

I think Wild would just be more fun if we didn’t have these decks running around. I also think it would open up these classes that have no incentive to play decks outside of these OTK decks to actually play something else.

Lets add resurrect Priest to that list. Trying to kill the same wall of OP minions 4x over because of stupid game design. I’m fine with control matchups but being able to discover and copy spells is just dumb.

They dont ban cards in wild that are not in standard. Nor should they. EVER!

Yes, the cards you mention are (potentially) nerfworthy, but if you want them banned then GTFO of wild.

Which is this combo
?

Why? The deck is hot trash. Doesn’t even register on the charts as a deck people are even playing because it’s SO bad.

Why not mention Big Shaman instead? It’s 10x better, sees 3x more play and is at a 65% win rate in Diamond-Legend. Big Priest only registers at a 56% winrate in BRONZE. Shaman cheats out minions several turns earlier as well and can cheat them out when in hand.

Mentioning Big Priest and not Big Shaman is really suspect.

Unless by Rez priest you mean undead. But Big Priest has always been called Rez Priest and Undead never has.

i’ve been playing for nine years and the reason i play and continue to is cards and decks like those. being able to build decks around cards that are interesting is what the game is all about for me. shudderwock is one of my favorite cards. it’s not op. it’s fun. otk decks are fun. all is good unless there are broken cards in the game. broken cards are the only real problem i see with the game. things like snake for example. even though they nerfed it the mechanic is still bad and needs more nerfing or a rework. dew process is a good example of a broken card that has needed a rework since it was released.

Any big minion deck that easily cheats out big minions on turn 4 or 5 is stupid. It’s that type of gameplay that makes constructed crap.

Fun. You spelled fun wrong.

There is plenty of time to play the game before these wombo combo go off. Do you also complain you can’t play the game when any class with a damage hero power gets lethal when you are at 1 life? Combo deck are similar there you have the entire game before they collected all the pieces to play the game. Just because a combo deck does not let you play your game of doing nothing until someone explodes to fatigue does not mean you didn’t get to play the game.

If you are a degen that enjoys watching paint dry.

I don’t know why you didn’t add Time Warp for Mage in that list. I love sitting there while some moron plays it over and over again for the rest of the game…

The ability to make it infinite in wild is the only issue with timewarp.

Except you just want yours, so it pretty much makes your statement disingenuous.

would be nice to have all those card you listed in the core set

Umm, sure he did. Still not happening. Only standard legal cards get banned in wild.

Shudderwock, and really ALL cards with that design, should be redone to, “repeat five random battlecries played this game.”

Cards that repeat ALL deathrattles or battlecries or cards played from other classes are terrible design. Unfun because you have to sit there and watch it all, even after the other person’s time has expired. Limit it to five, or limit it to however many can go off before the player’s turn ends.

If a card or cards are problematic in wild, the bans are onyl for ones sitll in standard they dont wanna nerf in standard.
Wild onyl would just be nerfed

This was a dumb comment because you’re strawmanning.

What strawman? Games against combo are more than just the one combo turn. Just like games where you are beating each other down are more than just the final source of damage that pushes someone to 0 health. So why do people act like the final combo turn is the entire game against a combo deck?

Need to do something about the amount of even shamans flooding in right now.

The strawman being that you think I am calling for nerfs to all combo decks because I can’t win against combo. I am literally legend rank in Twist, Standard, AND Wild. This isn’t coming from a position of ‘you can’t win against these decks boo hoo,’ this is literally a position of (1) these decks are not fun to play against (2) it is not healthy losing to mage turn 7 because they RNG’d getting their full combo early (3) combo =/= OTK – the idea that combo decks are ONLY inclusive to OTK is brain rot.

I play a highlander shaman deck, I made a separate thread about my climb to Wild legend which I made 3 days into the new season with no star bonus because I haven’t climbed to Wild legend in months due to disinterest. I don’t do a lockdown style Shudderwock deck, but I do use Shudderwock and I still think it needs to be banned from the format because of the interactions it has with certain cards, including the interactions other cards on this list have.

I could have literally made the thread about any number of cards and if you felt like it were targeted towards totems, unholy DK, etc. you’d just be saying ‘you have an issue against aggro decks’ instead of using your brain critically. The fact is that Wild is centered around a VERY narrow list of decks right now, some of which HAVE defined the format for literal years, and there is no change in sight. It’s the entire reason Twist exists because Wild is seen as an unplayable format by many.

A very disproportionate of good cards aren’t played in Wild because there are toxic strategies. Wild is basically like if WoTC decided that Eldrazi Winter was a good state of the game for Magic and never fixed it. Modern would still be dealing with it.
