Dear Blizzard Team.
I would like to share some concerns and observations regarding the recent changes to the Arena mode and the introduction of the Underground Arena.
Reducing the allowed losses to only 2 and removing gold rewards has significantly decreased the accessibility and appeal of this mode. Many players who used Arena as a source of progression and fun now see it as less rewarding and almost a waste of time.
While the redraft option is interesting, it creates a significant competitive gap. The current matchmaking does not differentiate between players who redraft and those who don’t, leading to situations where non-redrafting players are disadvantaged and face opponents with more optimized decks. This undermines the fairness and competitiveness of the mode.
The increased entry costs and decreased rewards make the Arena, especially the Underground mode, economically unsustainable. Even with a good number of wins, players often fail to recoup the ticket cost, discouraging many from investing time and resources.
The “curated” draft system tends to reduce deck variety and the unpredictability that made Arena a unique experience. This, combined with matchmaking and reward issues, makes the mode feel less engaging.
