[Arena] Any tips/advice?

I used my first time freebie. Then I used a ticket I received from rewards track. I’ve never played arena and did not do well.

I’m looking for any resources/tips/advice to help me get better at drafting.

I’m sorry that the first person to respond was this troll with his inane wall of text.

I play Arena some, & my tips are always take any Legendary offered, & don’t be greedy & fill your hand up with a bunch of 7, 8, & 9 mana cards.

Especially at first, I think you should try to choose a class that you have some experience with.

That contributed nothing to my post. It looks like you just copied and pasted this response.

We are all aware bots are in every mode of the game.

This is not anything new. It is a problem, yes. But it doesn’t change the fact that I still enjoy the game.

Enough to step outside my comfort zone and try a new mode.

Raining on my parade is not cool nor is it very nice. If you have nothing substantial to contribute, keep scrolling.

It’s not that hard. You won’t die, I promise!

Climber, “People are not judged by themselves,” and what kind of climber are you? yap! A climber who doesn’t play hockey! :joy: :joy: :joy:

I have no idea what that even means. Sorry to disappoint but I’m not a sports fan.

No, you dont play arena often if that is your first tip. Everyone gets offered 1, and only 1, legendary as their first pick. All 3 cards will be legends, but the first bucket is the only one that will contain a legendary card.

Drafting a playable deck is half the game. You always want to be sure you have a good amount of 2, 3, 4 cost cards in your deck or you will find that you will fall behind on board very easily.

Thank you! I will try that next time.

So for example for the first 15-20 cards pick the best card but then if you are lacking low cost cards pick more of them even if a 5 or 6 cost card looks juicy.

I just wanted there to be a response besides the troll.

No, I don’t play it a lot.

I trusted that someone would come along who could give him better advice.

Jonius’s comment was useful.

Yours was not. So dont comment on that which you have no clue. You literally cant just take every legend, as you are only offered one. Even if you were able to be offered more than 1, autopicking it is NOT the right option, as you advised.

Lose three matches quickly as possible. Buy another arena ticket, lose those three matches, buy another ticket. Keep doing this and help Activision. :slightly_smiling_face:

Someone with some sense! Thank you!

The goal here is to get better at arena. If you don’t like the company, stay off their games/forums.

I’ll do as I please, thank you very much.
I already explained why I commented as best I could.
Your comments were not useful & just unnecessary trolling.

I see that I should just ignore you & Stardust.

be very careful, as noted by many users the arena is the milking cow mode that uses blizzard to make users spend tons of money, many opponents according to some may be blizzard bots and beyond this the level of cheaters and users extremely expert is now very high, if you spend real money in the long term you will lose it in exchange for a lot of frustration, do not have any trust in anyone who tells you that the arena is beautiful, that the arena is not like a rigged slot, they are often users blizzard fanboys or even paid by blizzard to stabilize this forum

I wouldn’t use real money in arena. Tickets mostly. Maybe gold on occasion. But no, not real money.

You’re right. I’m sorry.

Ok, real good advice for arena: look at each card very carefully, look at their costs, their abilities, their attack power and defense. Choose the best card that has the best out of the others.

I think it’s a bit more complex than that. Thanks for playing.

Next!

In their defense, this is a somewhat recent change that was implemented with little fanfare.

To the OP:
One, the mode right now has a lot of people using lots of accounts to draft consecutively until they get a very good draft, and then selling the account. Somehow this a good use of the purchaser’s and seller’s time.

So you will run across a lot of insanely good drafts (particularly after a few wins) and you kinda just have to accept that.

For actual advice. First, look up which classes are strong in this season’s Arena. Next, pray you get offered one of those when you cash in your ticket.

Then, after you choose your class, go and quickly look up the cards that will be available. That should help you in picking your first legendary and first few drafts, knowing what synergies might be available. But don’t try and go all in on a synergy unless you’re looking to max out your wins. Most times that ends in a bust.

8/10, the player that wins the early board wins the match in Arena. You want a mana curve that peaks around 4-5 mana cost cards.

So, as someone else said, make sure you take plenty of early game cards, as it is unlikely you’ll find the “swing” cards that are so popular in constructed.

You do still want that tail end of a few big, late game cards. Piles of stats are bad in constructed, but usually very good in Arena (since spot removal is relatively rare). Anything that can end the game if not answered immediately is worth getting.

Draw capacity/card generation is also generally lower in Arena, so pick it when you see it (within reason). Card advantage is a real thing here.

I don’t think I saw anyone suggest this, but the HearthArena app is something you can use. It shouldn’t be used to pick all high rated cards. Nevertheless, it does help somewhat in deciding what to draft.
