Anyone think cards should be deleted and new ones re-issued?

I asked this question elsewhere, but thought I would see what players actually think.
Anyone think deleting cards and printing new ones to take their place is a good idea?
If they were of equal value, would this be an effective way of dealing with busted or completely useless cards?

thats the core set …

Ok. Should the idea be applied across the board?
Wild, for example? Every class has a pile of cards that have never seen play.
Should they be deleted and new cards be made to replace them?
Also; are nerfs more effective for alterations to OP cards?
Would it improve the game to instead re-imagine cards that players complain about?
As opposed to being nerfed to unplayable?

i rather have them make core set changes over the year

there are many non competitive cards i like to use on my meme decks and iwoudnt want to lose them

i think the only 2 cards i wouldnt miss are duskfallen aviana and clasic manastorm

One never knows what combos can be made in the future with a new card that makes a previously useless non competitive card suddenly a win condition combo key card. I recall this latest tavern brawl letting us draw in curve perfectly as a good example for when a previously unusable certain cost card would be game breaking if drawn on curve and would be reliably drawn because of the tavern brawl rules. Good fun can be had with cards much further down the line despite whatever the meta has dictated over the years.

That’s been going on for some time now.

At least someone can admit they are deleting cards. People have been posting about this ever since they started doing this “rotation” garbage.

No. Because dipping into peoples’ collections is a terrible idea. The simple fact that they already take money, shut down entire modes and make the collections worthless is bad enough (and that’s before we get into the dust, diamond, and other debacles they still owe the playerbase for).

WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN TEAM 5!

Point taken. I do have cards that I have never used in ten years, though.
I wish there were a way beyond dust to get some use from them.

Are we feeling theological this evening?
I belong to the church of Ragnaros, so I can’t relate:)

Nothing wrong with purging souls with fire

I’m feeling anything now rather than the burden of my work.

Hmmm… the idea has merit.

Maybe they could like… remove old sets and release new ones with updated cards? Figure out problematic mechanics and try to phase them out as they do so? In order to avoid just constantly scaling the power level on cards as they develop the game?

And maybe if a card is REALLY egregious, they could make balance adjustments to weak/strong cards to bring them more in line with everything else?

It’s certainly not a BAD idea.

They said they would this year, but all they did was add new Paladin cards.

Well, I’m no expert in these types of games.
HS is all I have ever played. And really just Mage. I had never heard of this type of game prior to this one.
But I do have cards like Anomalus, for instance.
I have never used the card once.
Flame Leviathan is another that comes to mind. Totally useless imo.
And I know other classes must have cards that just gather moss too.
Dusting them seems a poor option to me. I just wish we had a way of getting something useful in their place.

You mean like the retrained versions of Alex/Maly/Ysera/Onyx/Noz they made? Yeah, I like the idea of modernising old cards to make them more playable. I personally wouldn’t have any gripe with this affecting collectible cards too and not just the core set, but also agree with boba that this would upset some people so should probably be restricted to core set cards only.

Well, Idk how it would affect the game. Maybe it would be bad for it. But yeah, anomalus and flame leviathan are two that I wish I could do something with besides scroll past every time I play lol

They even buffed this card.

But I don’t think it’s that good of an idea. New versions of cards come out (eg: Azerite Chain Gang) or they get buffed anyway and put into the Core Set.

They “deleted” the old Cho’gall and Hobart Grapplehammer and reworked them. I have Hobart in a Hack the System deck and slightly prefer the old one.

Yeah. I figured it was probably not the greatest idea, if only for that many players would complain, but boy, it gets really old when I see all of the cards in my collection that I have almost never used.

Best bet is to have them get buffed like they did for Caverns of Time, or when Un’Goro was added to Twist, they buffed a lot too.

Seems to me if anything in my class gets a buff something else gets nerfed at the same time.
One step forward, two steps back.
Idk why mage triggers so many people, but I think it’s clear that many players despise the class.
But maybe we will see buffs like you speak of. Could be good.

This could only be viable if you assume that the team would not print any more busted or completely useless cards going forward. Which…well…

I think a better approach may be to combine two motifs into one. First motif: update old cards to be more competitive or useable in new rotation, sure. But put it on a contingent of another Motif: Currently owning the original (or the entire set it came from) like they did with the Naxx set to gift people the Diamond Loetheb. It would give people that dont dust off their collections an incentive to continue doing so, so that in the long run several expansions down the road they will be gifted say a Diamond version with updated version of a certain Titan, or Colossal, etc. (E.T.C. for that matter lol). It would change nothing for those that dont dust collections already, and would peev off the folk that do lol. JK, it would definitely lower the number of folk that blindly dust their collections when others in the meta are using their Awesome Double Windfury Divine Shield LifeSteal Discover Deathrattle Immune Cannot be Targetted by Hero Powers or Spells Titan card. (And probably make a bunch of sale spikes in the older set they would belong to to trigger them getting it too). Everyone Wins except those that dust their collections like a savage. lol.
