Good lord.
Soul Split is pretty fair, but it’s become quite clear that Demon Hunter’s other, non-Aggro identity is summoning beefy Demons. With 2 of these each, you could deal 40 random damage over 4 turns starting at 7 (6 with the coin).

Wait, you don’t know if copying these dormant minions will copy them as awakened or dormant - you ever try to faceless manipulator The Darkness?
The Dormant affect comes with it’s own timer, though. All the text and awakening conditions are printed on the card with no Battlecry effect whatsoever.
Just like Stealth minions are still Stealthed when summoned, I don’t think Dormant minions need to be played directly from your hand for their effect to be active.
Exactly, and dormant for 2 turns is a part of the text, not an effect gained via a battlecry. So just like copying an awakened Darkness, copying Antaen should give a dormant minion, as that first line of text is not removed from the card when it wakes up.
That’s true.
I actually hate that, because that awakening effect is absurdly strong.
Maybe… I think it’s better than the alternative though. Imagine Evolving into The Darkness high roll on turn 4.
I dunno. The text is like Molten Reflection, which if you copy a no-longer-Stealthed Stealth minion, the new copy doesn’t appear with fresh Stealth does it? It should copy it in it’s exact state if I recall, including stats buffs and effects.
Trust me, it will be dormant. You’ve seen what I’ve done with the Darkness, copying it with a card like this leaves a dormant body that needs to meet it condition to awaken.
So you cannot effectively cast Molten Reflection on an awoken Darkness and get a usable body?
Nope, it starts dormant. Just like this is dormant for 2 turns. Maybe I’m wrong as it doesn’t start dormant, but I think it should work that way for consistency with dormant effects.
Yeah, I tried those shenanigans back in the day with a draw deck + copy and the faceless would just go dormant.
The first one just a reprint of mage Reno the Relicologist but hit face to.
Yeah I just doublechecked it myself.
Play Antaen on 5.
Do something to survive 6
It AOEs on 7, then copy it with Soul Split.
Play another Antaen on 8
Copy #1 AOEs on 9, Soul Split that one, too
Original #2 AOEs on 10
Copy # 2 AOEs on 11.
All of that also can hit face.
40 random damage and four 10/6s over four turns, with whatever else you do leading up to it.
It’s a majorly problematic card as far as I’m concerned.
Not only does it do tons of damage, but it’s also a 10/6.
This is definitely a card that might be on the chopping block for a nerf in the near future. It could just as easily be a 5/6 and be great.
Eh, ten random damage you can see coming on turn 7 shouldn’t be that big of deal. Definitely undercosted though
Consider that when you use Soul Split on it, it creates another one that’s going to go off in 2 turns.
Assume reasonable turns 1-4
Turn 5 - play Antaen#1
Turn 6 - do something like Chaos Nova to clear or whatever
Turn 7 - Antaen#1 awakens, deals 10 damage and you Soul Split it to create a DORMANT copy.
Turn 8 - Play Antaen#2
Turn 9 - Copy#1 awakens dealing 10 damage, Soul Split it.
Turn 10 - Antaen#2 awakens for 10 dmg, you have full mana to play with
Turn 11 - Copy#2 awakens for 10 dmg, you have another 10 mana to play with
Demon Hunter has more than enough cycle (some Demon-focused, if I remember right) to get this online consistently.
about the darkness
i read itll be removed from the list your minions can evolve into
That’s only because it cannot awaken itself. They said other minions with the Dormant keyword that can wake themselves up can still be summoned and will use the keyword as normal.
thats the reason people asked it to be removed many times
I mean okay, that’s a pretty decent four card late stage combo. But venomizer missile launcher could clear the board every turn for 8 Mana and we survived.
Speaking of which, some rogue is going to manage to give this guy poisonous and it is going to be great.
But, the kind of boards control decks like druid and mage are putting up at that point, 10 random damage even several turns in a row isn’t going to hurt a whole ton.
