51 packs! Is the Pity Timer removed even in standard mode?

As I remember, the designer did mention somewhen that there is a Pity Timer of opening packs that in every 40 packs you will surely get 1 legendary card, in the most unlucky case, you will get the legendary at your 40th pack.

However, I just opened 52 packs of the newest version to get the legendary.

In the Merc mode, I experienced that opening 60+ and 50+ packs to get ONE legendary. I thought maybe that new mode haven’t launch this rule. So, now, even the traditional mode don’t have Pity Timer any more???

Only in mercenary the people Say that, are a Lot of post je

Say what? and what does je refer to?

As a Hearthstone veteran, I’m pretty positive that Blizzard mentioned about the 40-pack pity timer together with the announcement of “first 10 pack of every new expansion will ensure a Legendary”.

Besides, I count my packs. Even though with a 1 or 2 in error maybe, I did open more than 50 to get a legendary card.

I heard some times ago that mercenaries doesn’t have a pity timer.

Standard should have a pity timer, but it works only for the same type of packs (I think you know that).
The only exeption I know are golden packs (correct me if I am wrong): there is no pity timer for golden packs, so if you open 40 golden alterac packs, you may not get a legendary

If you are playing on PC and you are using a deck tracker (like HS tracker), you can use a plug in that counts packs for you (but you must open them while the tracker is on).

I heard firestone (another traker) can count your old packs as well, even if you never used the app.
I don’t know how it works since I never used it, but maybe someone can confirm if it’s possible to download firestone and then use it to see if you really opened 50 packs before finding a legendary

Mercenaries does not have a timer but the rest of the packs do. Unless something has changed recently it should be 40 packs max.

Unsure about gold packs.

Just to quickly confirm that the “same type” you meant is per set, like “Stormwind” vs. “Barren”, right? Maybe I forgot the details. Did they really specified so?

I mixed a few “Standard set” packs in with the “Alterac Valley”, but I forgot how exactly many . That could be the reason and will be the only one can make sense following your logic. Even minus the 5 Golden packs I added in, it’s still more than 40.

Anyway, thanks for your detailed info though.

unfortunately, there is NO pity timer on merc packs. I had to open 50+ packs to get the latest LongXin Dragon

If it’s mercstone, you can nearly always be assured the answers are “working as intended” and “SPEND MORE MONEY!” with a heavy emphasis on the second.

yes, each expansion has its own pity timer.
Also standard packs, year of the X packs and wild packs have their own pity timer

Hello.
