Gotta love a game mode that’s pretty much no fun when you hit 5000 rating in battlegrounds?
might as well just concede when I get into a game as it’s pretty much instant loss since you can’t get the cards or play the right now and not the cheaters why by stacking.
Once I hit 5000 rating or whatever in battlegrounds, It’s pretty much game over after 4 or 5 turns as I can’t get the cards I need and other players are just stacking stacks like crazy and toons have 30 or 40 health already.
Once I face people who undertand the mode I lose fast and hard because I am not good at the game mode. I attribute everyone else’s success and my own failure to luck/rng instead of owning my role in the gameplay.
You can’t really force builds in BG. At 5000 people tend to start knowing what they are doing. 7000 is when BG requires some skill and smart decision making if you want to finish 1-4.
That isn’t to say there are no scaling, or balancing issues … there are. Some Heros are way OP, and others are awful. Sometimes you keep rolling 1-2-3 … over and over again, which is definitely frustrating. But overall, you can play this mode with enough skill to consistently get into the top 5, if not the top 4.
One thing I don’t like about the mode is that you can only learn so much from your opponents. In regular Hearthstone you see all the cards they play, what turn and in what order. How they respond to situations and other stuff like that. It’s very difficult to pick up these kind of things to try and improve from just playing the game against people who are as good or a little better in Battlegrounds.
If you would like to improve as a player, I strongly recommend watching a popular BG streamer. They are typically very good at the mode and you can learn a lot. You definitely don’t need to spend a dime on the mode to advance past 5k rating.
EDIT- There is a BG event streaming right now with the highest rated players in the world. The casters are both solid at BG’s themselves and offer great insight as well as explaining the decisions of the players throughout the game.
I wonder if people shame others for their 7 minute or 14 minute mile run/walks when obviously Usain (sp?) Bolt exists.
There is such a thing as a skill plateau. I reach mine consistently in ranked wild of Silver 5ish, I exceeded it last night by reaching 5800 in BG. I didnt even know the score in BG went above 6000, much less that 15000 was an option. I thought the tryhards were difficult in 5000-6000 bracket.
It is one thing to mock the people that claim things are rigged, but it is another to mock them for their score plateau. One is punching at an imaginary thing, the other is just punching down on an actual person. One of these is humorous, the other is not and is just bad form.
Play aggressively. Level up quickly. Even if they aren’t part of your “plan” grab the most powerful minions you can and don’t waste coins on rerolling until late game. Take advantage of your buddy. The buddy is your biggest advantage in hearthstone battlegrounds right now.
