To add insult to injury, that’s only if you have the multiplier for XP and just starting out on your leveling journey. You earn less XP/hour the longer you play.
By design.

This match I earn only 60 xp and won for some reason
It’s like you guys think you are levelling up in an MMO or something so you can go raid the final boss.
Hitting level 50 is meaningless–you get a skin. Just enjoy the game the way you did before, if you did before.
I’m making more gold now than I was before because a) ranked tends not to be my main mode and b) I tend not to play fast decks when I do play ranked and c) I didn’t always do my quests since ranked wasn’t my main mode.
We’re all different, guy.
Well this is truth. A great many of us feel no sense of progression at all any more with the new system. Grinding and the insane price point is precisely why I quit Wow
Careful with that “Mage is the new Shaman” line. They might give you murlocs.
LMAO
that doesnt make sense
i remember timing a game i won in 7 min giving me around 65-70 exp
You should slowly consider moving to shaman. They’re essentially what mage players want to be - sans the silly evo-revolve gimmicks.
But even if you won all of your games at that rate and got the 420 exp, or ~9.8g, doesn’t change that you would have gotten like 4-5 wins @ 7 minute games given a 60-70% winrate which is around 13g. Given that the average game of hs for some decks is like 4 minutes, I would have liked to see them match the rate of gold per hour around that figure because most of the player base is playing hyper aggro. Hyper aggro at 4min/game or 11 matches/hour 5.5 wins at 50% winratio (18g+/hour).
Then the quest proponent at 13k exp = 450g, which fine in the old system it was also about 450 at 7x 60 + the occasional bonus play a friend quest, so nothing has changed much in that regard.
Well that is if they were not playing bg, but at a time before bg ever existed, people were earning this 10g/3 games in casual mode anyway. Weekly quest being set aside in ranked is irrelevant, also ~30-40% of my rewards coming from a ranked rewards is also irrelevant.
Yeah, screw Evo Shaman, but hit-stuff Shaman is really, really fun.
I complain about Mage a fair bit, but Shaman and Paladin are my other favorite classes and they both feel great to play right now.
it is what it is, B. I didn’t make the numbers up.
I don’t win as much as you though if I were to guess, so maybe that’s why?
I agree with you on everything but one thing. I dont belive the best class in wild should be the best class in standard as well. As long as mages are as disgusting in wild as they are, they have no buisness being top tier in standard. Last time i checked in wild DH is not top tier.
Good thing Mage isn’t the best class in Wild. Reports I’ve seen tend to have Priest, Druid, Paladin and Warlock, even Rogue above it. It isn’t even tier 1 on Tempostorm.
That point aside, having good cards that have rotated shouldn’t doom Mage to jank for all future expansions.
I don’t believe Mage is tier 1 in Wild these days. Strong, yes. But Tier 2 probably. They got relatively nothing this xpan. and other classes got new cards that really close the gap in tempo. Ice Block is all that’s saving Mage if you ask me.
I honestly don’t think we are getting more at all, but I will wait to see how it shakes out by the end.
I know I am behind where I should be gold wise right now, less than I would have gotten from one daily a day since xpac dropped.
I can’t see how that gets better at the end when levels are longer.
But playing for two days and getting zero gold or dust or anything is a big change for this game, and that’s the “feel” piece for me.
The rewards are similar (slightly better) they just re-disrupted how they are handed out. More packs are put at the start of an expansion which helps players when they open/buy packs on launch day. But they took some of the rewards earned during the expansion to balance it out.
They also lowered the effective gold earned per win because they put more value in time spent because they wanted to balance out rewards between standard, duels, and BG.
Its fine to disagree with how rewards are disrupted based on feeling, but the math doesn’t lie. You get more over the course of an expansion.
I had nearly 8k gold to start this expansion. I won’t have that next time. I did not get an improvement based on my playstyle and amount.
I didn’t either. I had 9k when the expansion hit. I won’t get anywhere near that this time and I am playing over twice as much as I ever have.
Please, just stop. Even if taken into consideration that a player has battle pass, the math has been done already and has proven that players are not earning more gold in every scenario. You can’t expect to please everyone with changes like this, especially when they are actually adding another paywall - to get more XP - to make LESS gold. They’ve done that before with the 80 and 100g quest nerfs, clearly that wasn’t enough for them, so they had to resort to something else more drastic to push people into spending copious amounts of money to keep up with their scam.
Jesus, you folks really gotta stop simping that hard for this company.
Yeah. Like you, I had 9k. I’ll be lucky to crack 5 or 6 this time and that will entail grinding every day like crazy.
On paper it may be “better”, but for many, it’s a gigantic hit.
