Trial of the Hordes - spawn counts and kill count tie breaker

My matches nearly always go to kill count and there is something wrong with the spawns in Trial. I have a lost a lot of matches like 364 kills to 363 when my side was completely empty seconds before my opponent’s side. How am I supposed to compete if there’s nothing to kill? I’ve won games the same way, I can see my opponent’s side is clear, but somehow I get ahead 1-2 kills. It all makes no sense. Where are the missing mobs so we both have an even chance to win on kills?

My last match some how my opponent had +5 kills on me from the very start, like he got an extra initial spawn and won 369-364 again despite my side being clear first almost every wave. That’s even worse.

You either need to make these harder so fewer go to tie breaker or fix whatever is messing up the spawns. Every Trial cycle it’s the same unfixed issue.

Second comment : Why are matches that come down to tie breakers vs human opponents worth so few points? A tough tiebreaker on time should be worth MORE points than a quick win vs a bot, not less.

I had a interesting tie-breaker today.

We both went full count. I lost the tie break because ‘I took more damage’ than my opponent. Yet, my health bar said 100% and I never drank a potion to top up.

How is that even possible? Neither of us took any damage. We both had equal number kills but I apparently took more damage. ZERO!

Why even try when the game cheats us left and right. Most days, I despise the developers who have all the intelligence of an amoeba.

Depends on your class and equipment.

For example, Barb has an off-hand weapon that provides Life Drain, i.e. it heals the Barb for a percentage of the damage done. This way you could take damage, and heal yourself back up to full again by hitting mobs. Just because you ended the fight with 100% HP doesn’t necessarily mean you were never below that or never took damage.

I never dipped below 100%. I’m a DH with no life leech whatsoever.

Sometimes, there’ve been matches where you can take minor damage and after a while, there’s an auto-heal if you don’t take any more. This was not the case in this match.

It’s the only time I’ve ever seen this happen. Apparently, there’s no such thing as an authentic tie. The algorithm probably does an RNG roll and I was the unlucky one.

It has nothing to do with the % more so the damage taken number below. Even a minuscule difference can cause a loss

This one I actually know, cause I had the same thing (diff class) yesterday and wondered what happened. Both of us same kill count 0 damage taken and it said I won the tie on damage taken. There is now a new note in the event details that says a tie on damage taken goes to whoever killed the final wave first.

Yeah, this is a bug / exploit that’s in this mode since the beginning. Sometimes if you have a big AoE attack and time it correctly, you can kill the first 5 spawns before they have completely spawned in the arena and thus another set of them spawns right after. This will give you always the +5 lead in kills.

I accidently discovered this bug by shooting through the ‘window’ to acknowledge another friend and got this +5 result. Can’t replicate it but I’ve seen it happen on a couple occasions.
