so, i think i may have accidentally stumbled upon the reason why this thread exists:
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/diablo-immortal/t/vault-leavers-are-still-a-problem/10867/71
so, i started up the game, went to akeeba’s blessing, then went to the vault … as i started to run the vault with my party, as i got to the first mob pack, my game crashed quite unexpectedly … i immediately started up the game again, and when i got in it resumed me in the vault, however, the party seemed to be gone, and the remainder of the 1st floor seemed almost like it had reset … idk if all the mob packs were there, but quite many of them were, almost as if when i had dropped, the rest of the party had dropped too, which i thought was odd … but then floors 2 and 3 were completely full, and i was able to net well over 50% essence from killing all the mobs and opening all the chests on my own … just to see what happened, and contrary to my usually leaving on floor 3, i went to floor 4, but immediately the immortals were summoned (10 seconds w/ warning actually, but i never got to do anything, i barely made it to kill some of the 1st pack and make it up over 60% essence before and immortal poofed in my face and killed me) … this suggests to me that my party had reached floor 4 already, and triggered the alert, and so when i got there, even though the npc stuff was “refreshed”, the alert trigger was still active from their “instance” or w/e the technical term would be … i then tried to replicate what happened by re-queuing and went to “end process” in task manager … when i got back into the game this time, floor 1 was emptied unlike the game prior, but floors 2 and 3 were completely populated with monsters and chests … so i was still able to net over 50% essence and thus finish obtaining the remainder of my hilts … i had started running at 160/350, and got 120 and the remaining 70 in just those 2 runs … if i hadn’t discovered this, i’d need to go back to the vault again this week, because that 2nd run put me past 8pm
so, idk if this is an accepted exploit or what, but i figured i should mention it given the thread i linked up top … i would imagine i’m not the only one to stumble upon this, and exploiting your own instance for at least 2 floors for 50% essence seems way more likely the explanation for insta-leavers, than people trying to max bp (at least, imo, it could still be for bp, or both things in different situations)
