In the Southern Dreadlands zone, the camera is zoomed in compared to how it looks for the rest of the game. I think this zone is using the old camera perspective, from before they zoomed it out about a year ago. It’s really obvious once you notice it, your character is bigger and you don’t see as far.
I went to three zones and took a screenshot of my hero. For each screenshot, using MS-Paint, I drew a selection box from the top left of the M in Meteorblade, to the top right of the e in Meteorblade, down to below my hero’s feet. The dimensions of the selection boxes were shown in pixels in MS-Paint, as follows…
Westmarch - 191 x 321 pixels
Mount Zavain - 192 x 321 pixels
Southern Dreadlands - 192 x 323 pixels
So, whilst there was a couple of pixels margin of error when I drew the selection boxes, essentially the hero is exactly the same size in all three zones. If the camera was zoomed in for Southern Dreadlands the selection box around the hero would be larger than for the other zones because he’d take up more of the screen.
Here’s the hero from all three zones all in the same picture…
There’s no difference in zoom in Southern Dreadlands I can see.
Hi, there is definitely a difference, but I believe it’s in perspective and not in zoom.
I’ve found the best way to see it is to use an aura skill, one that makes a large circle around your character. Try it in a few zones and you’ll see that in Dreadlands, the circle is different, more flattened, as if the camera is positioned differently.
edit: I tried to post screenshots but it won’t allow me to post links, I guess I don’t have high enough trust level on the forum
Thanks for the instructions. Here are 4 images that show the difference. You may need to load them into a picture viewer to flip them in succession and see how the spell circle looks bigger in Dreadlands, indicating a change in camera zoom/angle, not sure. I can tell also just by looking at the waypoints.
