On Wed afternoon (10/13/2023), I was banned on DI for no apparent reason. Having read a number of reddit/diablo posts about others with the same complaint. In my particular case, I had an issue with my email address. In brief, I was forced to change b/c I was unable to access the one I initially opened my Battle.net account with. As a result, I never got the email that supposedly “explains” why I was banned.
When I told my clan about my ban, every one of them was shocked. I’m not the type of person/gamer to cause a fuss. I actively stay out of arguments on wc (mainly b/c those who engage in that are those who only want to hear themselves yak & don’t care to hear the truth, so why waste time/energy/etc.). I actively thank people in Assembly & in parties (if I’m able before it breaks up). While it does piss me off when others invade my farming space, I don’t lash out in-game. I either stay or leave. I don’t buy anything outside of the in-game store. My name is not offensive. I can’t think of any reason why I’ve been banned other than maybe that I’ve been using a PS5 controller. If that’s the issue, it makes no sense. The DualSenseX program only allows my DualSense controller to communicate with my lappy. That’s it. If they want me to use an Xbox controller (since MicroSoft now owns Blizzard), I’m willing to get one. I just want to play!
I’ve played Diablo Immortal on my laptop since the Open Beta drop and have spent many thousands of hours, legally farming, spending money, progressing my characters. I’ve been playing Diablo since season 20 of Diablo 3 (2019) and never had an issue until now. I’ve lost track of how many tickets I’ve opened because they keep being merged together. I’ve been trying to ask for the reason without any success. All I want is to have my DI account unbanned and to have all the gear, gems, money, etc. that I had before the ban.

Typical. For the amount of money that’s poured into this game, you’d think they would take shît like this seriously. An explanation is warranted at the very least… they probably just have some bot sending a generic response.
This is probably the right way to get a person to pay some kind of attention.
Give her an explanation or unlock her account blizzard! You have 200k accounts posting ads in our chat all day long, AND THIS IS WHO YOU BAN?!? Shame!

Another example of a company who is unable to answer its consumers due to a lack of employees. Blizzard needs to update their policy and standards to justify your ban. Your account should be unbanned and who ever is responding to your tickets needs re-education. Terrible.

Come on. So many posts lately about PC players using controllers being banned. This is a terrible precedent to be setting that anyone can be banned for no reason. This needs to be rectified so players aren’t losing their time and money for no reason.

The sad part is that there are probably (tens of?) thousands of good / honest players they’ve PERMANENTLY banned at this point. No warning, no explanation, extremely harsh punishment. Blizzard has soured their relationship with so many dedicated players. Sorry this happened to you, hope they rectify it though if past is any indication I would assume they won’t do anything.

I can not understand not at least explaining what the situation is to a player. Blizzard I know of very blatant players buying accounts, sharing accounts and flat out cheating AND they have been reported and nothing happens. Yet an honest player who has done nothing wrong gets banned. Don’t they are least deserve an answer?

I don’t see why blizz can’t at least give an explanation of why the ban was given. If it really has to due with using a controller then why lose a loyal player over it instead of just given a warning, or at the very least a temporary ban so they have a chance to rectify it. Is it even in the terms of service restricting what sort of controller you can use to play?

Unfortunately, Blizzard doesn’t have any sort of strategy in place to rethink
a decision. Once they rule on something they are very very slow at changing their mind if at all.
I’ve been here and done that. I ended up losing my game cause they assumed something that wasn’t true - which forced me to re-buy the game. Win win for them.
If, indeed, this ban is due to a controller use then I suspect it’s because they want you to purchase their controller. Essentially pulling a Microsoft tactic as they did with their browser some time ago.
I wish you well and hope that you are able to get their attention as unlikely as that may be! They aren’t very good at any sort of communications. It takes them a long time to address anything!
I know you and enjoy playing with you (although haven’t lately!)

& here’s the thing Drm, I am willing to buy the Xbox controller. I’ve told them that, I just need to know if that will unban my account. I don’t want to leave this game. I just want to play.
I have run Dungeons and farmed open world with Shrikirra many many times and not once have I ever seen anything suspicious or unatural from this player. Sometimes we use what we have prerephial wise and have no idea there is a difference let alone one is banned and the other isn’t. Streamers have encouraged using controllers for a different feel. This ban is obviously unwarranted. Bliz please fix this, and don’t let this become a common occurrence.

Sorry, not up on the rules with respect to controllers, is there a place on Blizzard’s site that specifically warns of the use of any controllers?
No, they’ve always touted that DI “supports the use of controllers.” It was one of the main selling points of the game. Along with being multiplatform.
They did provide a general reason via email to the OP’s account, but the OP no longer had access to that registered email.
Controller use alone is not going to get you banned. If you use any device though, including programmable mice, keyboards, or controllers to automate portions of gameplay, that would be a rules violation.
The only way to appeal is via ticket. You can appeal until they say they will penalize your Bnet account if you keep asking the same thing.
The answer you get is a template, but they do have a human double check it to see if the data for your account shows an infraction.
Keep in mind, there are false positives sometimes that happen. Where it shows an infraction, but the detection method was flawed. Those are usually overturned in batch un-bans. It is rare, but can happen.

TY MissCheetah, I have no clue how to program any of that stuff, nor would I. I did, finally, get a supervisor to review my ticket who confirmed “the original findings” and whatnot, and did threaten (at least that’s how it felt to me, regardless of whether or not that was the intention) to penalize my account for further actions on the same topic. Now, I don’t know what do to. I love this game and don’t want to leave it.

If they are determined the account broke the rules, I think your only other option is to make a new Battlenet Account and start over on another free account. I know Blizzard allowed that in the past. I THINK that D:I still allows it? I don’t think they do IP bans or hardware bans.
Removing a payment method from your account through Account Mgt is not cause to be banned. Nothing wrong with that. It just prevents any future charges from going through on that payment method. It is even used to FIX issues with payments. Sometimes a card must be removed and re-added to get it to update properly.
The email you got should have told you the general category of your ban infraction. Usually something from the Code of Conduct, or the general rules on language/names.
A Game Master resolved your ticket, and left the following response:
Greetings,
Your Diablo Immortal account has been permanently closed due to a direct breach of the Terms of Use.
We take these types of issue very seriously, and a full investigation is done before any action taken. In this case we have deemed that the evidence provided is correct and the action will not be overturned.
We have to take the measures to maintain the integrity of the game and for our community as a whole. We cannot provide in depth details about the closure aside from what has already been emailed.
Ugh. Ok that is not very descriptive. Normally they give a category. Any chance it was language or name related? The game is rated M, but the player created content (names and chat) is under very family friendly rules. They apply to all Blizzard games.
Otherwise, I suppose if you somehow committed financial fraud that would result in closure, but that is not what just removing a payment method from Account Mgt does.
It would be third party site illicit purchases, sales, automation of any parts of the game, exploits, etc. That does include rotation macros and things too.
What category did the Email say the ban was under?
