[ PC ] Game hangs on loading screen

I logged out of the game normally last night around 20:00 (UTC).

When I attempted to start the game this morning around 06:00 (UTC) the splash screen appeared (the heroes battling demons) but there was no text on it showing progress. I alt tabbed to a browser for a few minutes to give it some time but it had not changed from the loading screen when I came back to it.

I terminated the application and tried again.
Same result, i.e. splash screen with no progress.

I restarted my PC and tried again.
Same result, i.e. splash screen with no progress.

I ran a Check for updates and tried again.
Same result, i.e. splash screen with no progress.

I ran a Scan and Repair and tried again.
Same result, i.e. splash screen with no progress.

At this point, I guess I’m left with Uninstalling and Re-installing the game.
Let’s see how that goes.

Perhaps something went wrong in the Registry and you’ll need to use Regedit to manually remove all Diablo Immortal and Battlenet entries and start fresh.

Waiting on NetEase and Blizzard to resolve your issue is mostly a futile endeavour.

Just be careful around the registry and make sure you create a backup of it in case you’re unsure of what changes to it might cause.

Hope you get it fixed soon.

We’ll see soon enough…

–==[ EDIT ]==–

Complete re-installation of around 76 GB.
Then had another 1.6 GB update at the splash screen.
Finally back into game…

I have the same problem (on my PC), usually after an update involving a few GB. The loading screen appears, files are downloaded, and then the screen goes black. It works fine on my phone or tablet, but I always have these issues on my PC. I’ve already submitted a ticket, but the automatic instructions don’t help, unfortunately. Is there a way to create a backup so I can simply restore where I left off?

I’d hate to install 75 GB again :-/

Sigh…

I was helping someone out with a set of Inferno 5 raids. Started with boss 5. Killed boss 5. When I clicked on the portal to exit out of the raid instance, the client crashed to desktop. When I attempted to start the game again, it was back to the splash screen (the heroes battling demons) but there was no text on it showing progress.

I terminated the application and tried again.
Same result, i.e. splash screen with no progress.

Seriously looks like I’m going to have to uninstall / re-install again because the client crashed…

Posting this in case other people come across the same issue (and to hopefully avoid them having to completely re-install the game)…

Was standing in Assembly, collecting Blessings, game crashed to desktop. Same thing again… no text on the loading screen. On a hunch, wondered if it was some sort of user cache data that was getting corrupted by the crash so…

From the Start menu, typed in %userprofile%
(this is the environment variable that takes you to your User Profile folder)
From the View menu chose Show > Hidden Items

This made the AppData folder structure visible.
From the AppData folder, went into the Local sub-folder.

  • Renamed the Blizzard Entertainment folder to Old Blizzard Entertainment
  • Renamed the Battle.net folder to old Battle.net

Re-started the game from the Launcher, which re-created those two folder structures.
Worked fine.

(Although I had to reset some in-game options, such as sound volumes and so on, acknowledge some in-game tips, which must be held in a config file somewhere in one of those two re-created folders)
