Misdirection, Lack of explanation or a bug of Gem Power Transfer resulted in Gem Lost

I bought enough in game currency and gems to get Bottled Hope to rank 5, i was going to Power transfer either r10 Pain Clasp or r5 Frozen Heart. Previously i did siphon the power of a rank 4 Echoing Shade.
But this time i tough i should get Pain Clasp’s power, but instead of siphoning its gem fragments it destroyed the gem totally.
In the gem power transfer section it clearely states that “Select a legendary gem for power extraction, infusion, or transfer” which doesnt exclude 2 star gems. I thought my pain clasp should be able to siphoned as well, but from the manage and upgrade tab it destroyed the gem.
I dont know if its a bug or lack of explanation from the game’s side.
I would appriciate if you could reverse the process.

In gem power transfer tab, we can see that gem power transfer explanation does not exclude 2* star gems.

Also when upgrading a gem, it says “will be consumed” which suggested me that the power will be siphoned, due to higher rank 1* and 2* gems are not seen in the power extraction tab, which in the end led me believe that higher rank 1* and 2* gem power transfer will be done via adding them when we are upgrading the other gems where it says select gems to provide power.

In conclusion, either way my 10* Pain Clasp gem got destroyed, and if it is possible reworking the process will highly be appreciated.

If you go to the information section of the jeweler and there, to the Gem Power Transfer sub-section, you can see that under General Rules, it says clearly: “Gem Power Extraction, Infusion and Transfer are available to 5-star Legendary Gems (any quality) that are at least rank 2”.

When you use 1-star or 2-star gems to upgrade other gems, they are “consumed”. They are turned into a number of gem fragments that depends on their rank, when using a rank 10 2-star gem, you get 849 gem fragments. But that gem is lost.

Your only option now, the way I see it, is to get the gem again and upgrade it. The only problem is that you’ll need lots of “duplicates” (40, from what I read in some guide) and also lots of gem fragments (685, from that same guide).

Gem Power Extraction and Transfer can now be used on One and Two-Star Legendary Gems. Extending this feature to all Legendary Gems will allow you to freely swap around new Gems and test different builds and loadouts."

This is a quoate from the new upcoming patch notes this week, so whatever mistake i did thinking this was doable, now actually doable, is there any blizzard dev has enough pity to help out this poor soul in any way possible to recover pain clasp in some way siphoning another gem’s power removing those gem fragments instead etc etc.
