Constant Android Crashing - post WoW 20th update

In addition to a description of the bug you are reporting, please provide:
Unable to have game open for longer than 5 seconds, before Android “Close App/Wait” prompt occurs.

This happens typically after a full reload of all the game files, I will have one working session, then any follow up times I launch the app it continuously crashes. I have restarted the app, and it did not work. I have cleared the cache and it did not work. I restarted the phone - and did not help. I have repaired the game client, then restarted phone, and that did not help. Tried re-installing the app, and shutting off phone, and then redownloading all the assets, and it works for about 1 gaming session, then whenever I hop back into it, the same results.

Right now I am upgrading my Android OS to 15 - as a hail mairy to see if it helps, but as of right now, it is only the Diablo Immortal Application - and it has only occured after yesterdays patch. It will error/crash when even in menu and loading screens.

My device is unrooted and I have no other applications that have this issue.

Device Type: Mobile phone

Same exact issue.

Pixel 9 Pro XL Android 15.

Same with my Pixel 7 Pro (Android 15)

I am having the same issue. I have done all of these exact things. Reinstalling the game is the only thing that works but it only works for one gaming session and the error is regenerated. This is making it to play the game one needs to spend 45 minutes uninstalling and reinstalling the game and then downloading all resources. But it does not hold - the next time you start you will need to do all over again.

Same. Started after patch Thursday morning. Pixel Pro 8.

Reinstalled several times repairs client several times.

Android 14. Upgraded to Android 15, uninstalled restarted, installed, does not fix

After reinatall or repair can sometimes get one good working session, but does work after app is closed and restarted

As an update, I noticed every time I was having issues with the crashes, my resolution and my android buttons were misplaced when I would alt tab the game.

So for giggles, I checked my scaling, and that still didn’t help, went to screen resolution and noticed it defaulted back to “High Resolution”.

Which I never would have set, so I slapped it back to what I usually use, which is “Full Resolution”.

Since I made this change, the weird alt tab behavior didn’t exist and I have been able to launch and login 4 separate times, without any crashing.

Which makes me think that the crashing was occuring when the application was trying to set what to make the resolution of the game or causing some kind of resource leak or issue when trying to properly scale the application.

Can others here try to check to see if this resolved their issue?

Same problem, just submitted a ticket. Tried it all, including repair client, and full uninstall of game and battle.net.

Constant crash with close or wait dialog. Sometimes I get in, but can do anything. It all started with wow update from Nov 2024.

Just now have tried to get in 10 times and have crashed each time. Really frustrating.

Has anyone seen an official thread from blizzard support in this?

I have not and haven’t seen anyone posting about it else where, like not even reddit. However since I made my change, I mentioned above, I haven’t experienced it since.

But unfortunately because I cannot root my phone, I can’t easily look at any logcat files to troubleshoot it further. However since I got it resolved, I also am not troubleshooting it further.

What do you mean alt tab in a pixel. That is a windows command, no?

Which scaling and resolution settings did you change?

I’ve tried about everything. Sometimes it would be playable if not for the constant “isn’t responding” pop up

I think I may have figured out how to fix the problem. Have been on for about 20 mins with no more constant load error crashing during game play. I went to app settings and selected diablo immortal. Under Permissions, I checked off Microphone, notifications, and Photos and videos. I unchecked “Manage app if unused.” and changed “Picture-in-picture” to Not Allowed. Hope this helps!

Phone: Pixel 9 Pro XL
Android: 15
Diablo Version 3.1.3

I tried your solution @Marcolow, and your recommendation to change the video resolution. It’s working so far! I changed it from HD mode to LD mode with Medium Graphics level in game. I also went to my phone settings → Display & touch → Screen Resolution and switched it from High Resolution to Full Resolution. Hope this helps and good luck to everyone!

Same issue on my Pixel 9 Pro (Android 15)

@Marcolow’s solution worked, though it’s kind of ridiculous that we have to change a global setting for the sake of one game…

Same Thursday update
Pixel 7 pro andriod 15
Constant crashing, even went as far factory rest on my phone no luck.

I have found an unreliable work around.

When you click close app and are at the home screen, long press the Immortal app and pause it. Wait a few seconds and then u pause, which starts the game

Once the game loads and as soon as it signs into BNet, switch apps to another app. Wait about 10 seconds and switch back.

If you can do this before whatever broken process is called, then it can bypass that process crash and allow you to play.

When you do this, sometimes the right half of the screen is not working correctly, or will not register touch. If this happens, switch apps again, and then switch back to Immortal and the screen should work correctly.

Update: this issue not addressed in 11/26/24 update

Same issue on Pixel 7pro
Newest update is even worse as of 11/26, could sometimes bypass it before and get in, now crashes every time no matter what.

I had this problem before too.
after installing 3.1.4 the application stopped running altogether
