I just ran 50 x eternal crest runs , not one 5 star gem dropped? I even had the bonus rift gem event active. (From new update)

Same as you, i used 100 legendary crest, an i drop juste one frozen heart…

Unless all 50 were eternal legendary crests or all 50 were normal legendary crests then it’s highly likely that you didn’t “trigger” the “mercy” drop for either.
You probably used a mixture of both…
They have a separate “mercy” count.
But I can feel your pain! I only used 20 legendary crests the other day & still felt that I should be getting at least one 5* gem
