Just curious, I’m not belittling.
Mainly to experiment with character builds where I effectively have unlimited resources. But actually been having a lot of fun recently going back to old characters and rebuilding them with the new gear.
It’s what I do when I get tired of the seasonal mechanics.
I mean there’s more, but plenty of reasons right there. Feel free to click the links and indulge in your curiousity.
…because they don’t really play. They log in, bump around for 12 minutes, log off, come back in 3 months…etc
I don’t belittle that either, that’s how I watch Netflix. Turn it on, watch 3.5 minutes of OnePiece (not anime), fall asleep, watch another 4 minutes 2 month later. If someone asks me, “what shows are you watching?”, I say “OnePiece! It’s great! I love it!”.
So, to answer your question. They “play” because it’s fun!
I’m playing on eternal right now.
Eternal is always there whenever i come back. The current season is not.
Wut? When? There’s always been a season since S1 launch. What are you talking about?
Sometimes you want to make frozen orb go brrrr for 5 min then do something better with your time other than chasing video game achievements that literally no one cares about.
Why does someone play Diablo for 2 hours a month and then spend time with their friends and family? I don’t know, they must be crazy or stupid.
Didnt realize it was so deep it couldnt be got…
Its really that simple, sure this season is, others are not. As you yourself posted, some of us arent here for hours on end day after day, weeks, etc.
its really that simple.
Lol. One of those threads is mine. Pretty much an extended version of my post above. Didn’t think to link it.
Also want to add that playing Eternal has been very zen. It’s relaxing. If I get tired of playing current character, I just swap to a different one. If I don’t like their build, I just dig through gear and swap things up. Advantage of playing Druid too much I guess.
I got fired from my job and my wife left me because I was spending too much time being a competitive ladder player.
Why would anyone play on the eternal realm lol
The concept that you play a game to have fun is a lost art. Me and my roommates played a lot of Mario 3 back in college over a decade ago. Why? Because it was fun.
I’m always questioning why I’m chasing all these stupid achievements… I should just play video games like a normal person.
Because eternal is, like the name says, sustainable.
Many old school players prefer it.
And season is fast-paced, superficial, use it & lose it.
Generation Z style.
Why not play on eternal? It’s the same game, minus a few things but you have a massive stash of gg items, summoning mats, and you have almost unlimited resources. You have lvl 100 characters with all your glyphs maxed. I will be getting some eternal time in soon.
I want a reason to play eternal, but all of the perks and benefits come with seasonal.
Like most adults, I really don’t have the time to invest in a seasonal character, cause odds are, I’ll play at the start of the season and then life happens; which by the time I’m able to start playing again, I think to myself, ‘that’s right, I still have that seasonal character…but the seasons almost over, so what’s the point’.
What I can’t figure out, is why seasonal players are so against eternal having the same bells and whistles. (I think it’s a jealousy/ego thing)
*I should add, that I play seasonal…but barely. If eternal had the same benefits as seasonal, I’d be more inclined to play more than 4 weeks out of a year.
I play both. My Eternal characters are my RPG characters that play all the story content and side quests, they are my OG heroes of Sanctuary that I’ll never delete. My season characters just exist to grind the new stuff, then delete, I never play story content with my seasonal characters. I just bring their loot back to my “main” eternal characters.
i am whats referred to as a “casual” i log in i get what i want out of the game i log back in whenever i feel like it, so far i’ve only played about 10 hours this season i havent played in about a month and the next time the urge to play hits me i wanna be able to login and resume where i left off and not have to restart and do everything all over again every 3 months
thats why i play eternal and why i will never touch seasons
I’m totally opposite, I wonder why people want to do the exact same thing every 3 months again. I guess it goes both ways
I can only play 2 hours for week, for me eternal is the way.
I switch to Eternal when I run out of things to do. Mainly, I focus on getting the achievements I haven’t earned yet, especially in Hardcore. Sometimes, I go to Softcore Eternal to experiment with builds and the Paragon board, trying out aspects I don’t usually use. I also enjoy playing around with my old characters and dressing them up like Barbies.
