[Suggestion] Delay the HC race until season 1

Hey, since we got the news of the HC race lots of people were posting their “anger” on the forums. It is not a fair race when some people had 10 extra days to play the full game, they have more experience now with the story/bosses etc compared to someone just joining in on early access.

Also, people without early access have already lost in a way as they are 4 days behind.

So my suggestion is to delay the race until the start of Season 1, this way everyone would have had the chance to complete the story, get the experience from bosses etc. It will also mean everyone, early access or not will have a shot at this cool event.

Anyway, just a thought that crossed my mind yesterday.

:beers:

I very much agree. In any competition fairness for all sides is paramount. But I also think that on the whole, blizzard doesnt care.
They are doing this as a marketing method more so than a fun competition. For it to be pushed to season 1 it wouldnt have the same results they wi$h.

I am not a HC player but even I would try for a win in this. But I am not going to ruin my first playthrough of this hopefully amazing game to join in on a unbalanced competitive event :disappointed:

Indeed, it looks like this “competition” is a misdirection in the sense that it’s not about the reward or recognition, it’s about forcing content creators to generate (or ask their audience to send to them) crazy and interesting to watch clips of hardcore failures, kind of like the WoW classic HC clips floating on YouTube now. Smart, if that was their intention.

I am surprised they did this in preseason where there are so many issues for it.

Uneven playing field due to early start, uneven experience due to people getting review copies, likely still having some broken builds that people will stumble upon, and making people decide to try for this and ruin their first time experience or take it slow and enjoy.

You can still get in on the early access. Everyone has the same chance.

100% agreed. Delaying it to Season 1 makes it an even playing field.

An entirely sensible approach, teafan.

(complete aside: I’m also of the opinion that folks who approach any given game with this sort of attitude will likely express greater overall satisfaction with their experience of the game and will likely continue to play the game long after the initial novelty and challenge has worn off.

Why do I feel this is true? Well… it’s yet another reflection of basic human psychology. Folks who are generally motivated by a sense of internal reward (i.e., people who take personal pleasure in some undefined, intangible achievement) tend to express more “stick-to-it-ness” when compared to folks who generally lean into external rewards (i.e., people who take pleasure in some (pre-)defined, tangible achievement, such as a specific trophy or a prize).

Predictably, this sort of thing can be tied to larger concepts, such as personal validation, behavioral reward mechanisms and personal locus of control. Equally predictably, entertainment companies - whether casinos or videogame producers - have become quite skilled in understanding how these things can be very efficiently utilized so as to produce results ultimately favorable to the bottom line.

Yup, the house wins every time but it’s more likely to win with increasing efficiency with the deployment of increasingly efficient incentives/reward mechanisms. As BF Skinner, the big name in behavioral psychology, put it: “Each contingency is an arrangement of time, activity, and reward, and there are an infinite number of ways these elements can be combined to produce the exact pattern of activity you want from your players.”)

Generally, everything happens for a reason, and though intentions may be based on flawed reasoning they are still… you know… intentions

they want to capitalize that $20 early access, this company never change.

I like it the way it is for many reasons:

  1. lot more bugs and exploits that will take time to patch will get abused for it so that is fun.
  2. People who don’t have early access are shafted.
  3. Media, big streamers, testers, etc will have a head start massively on what to do and how to do it.
  4. Because I like watching the world burn.

Good suggestion. There’s no reason to not delay it until season 1 other than wanting to be a jerk.

I think the bigger issue is you can’t afford $20 to play earlier like you want. If it means that much to you than you maybe ask yourself, What life choices have you made that caused you to not have an extra $20 to spend on something you really want. Good luck.

Aw yeh, my expert life choices that’s causing record inflation and jacking up the price of everything from food to gas. My life choices that control the world’s economy.

I got my Ultimate edition a long time ago, also I am not playing HC… but I know many people do, and any race/game/challenge should be fair and square, this is not. :beers:

it starts june 1, it ends at september. people have 3 months to partecipate. hardly anything 3 days (or the little beta streamers had) would make impossible. criers are gonna cry anyway. if it weren’t for this, they would cry over the fact closed beta players had advantages wawaaa. or the fact beta players had advantages since they were busy. or server slam players had advantages, since they were at mommy’s cake time and couldn’t play nor get the horn so you should actually give em horn and statue already. it’s all your fault.

Why tons of us don’t give a flying rats butt about season and have no intention of setting foot in there. 1st is 1st not 1st a month after the game started lol

100% agree this race should be for the first season.

Season one, every one in season will start from the same point: nothing.

There, fixed your “competition”…

It should have been season 1 even without this streamer debacle with them playing for two weeks to get all the mechanics and routes down. Blizzard dropping the ball big time the past 24 hours. It’s nuts. It’s like lapping everyone at the marathon then tripping on shoelaces before finishing, watching everyone pass by. What are they even thinking…

Eternal realm players would throw a fit if this gets moved to seasons.
