Sorc patch notes

They buffed two nodes on the frigid fate board, gave you a heart that does 20% DR, and buffed two glyphs you could be using. Even if you don’t care about close damage, you could grab warding to buff some rare nodes and get the extra DR from being low on mana. Then maybe you could swap something out for an offensive skill like blizzard.

Also, if you are running blizzard, aren’t you always standing in your own blizzard?

You could have 80% bonus DR and still get one shot in NM100

Follow along closely. Or make a sorc. The damage reduction nodes ARE NOWHERE NEAR any paths I use. If they are useful to you, that’s wonderful, they ARE NOT useful to me. Dropping my DPS nodes will hurt me much more than the damage reduction nodes will help me. I THOUGHT, during the campfire, they said they were reworking our glyphs, I understood that to be the ones we LEVEL, not paragon nodes on distant paths that I DO NOT go near

I do not run blizz in an enhancement slot, I cast it. So no, I am not standing in it.
Why do you people seek to poke holes in what I have said? I CLEARLY wrote that this was MY experience NOT yours or anyone elses.

Why did blizzard disappear?

Because my health disappeared faster than theirs. Again, at no point in my post did I ask for help with my build. I am steady leveling my character and my glyphs. When I posted this I was 74, I am almost 80 now. I run t-40+ dungeons easily enough. But it could be so much more fun IF I was not forced into running so many defensive skills. But, as I stated in my post, any changes to hitpoints could severely limit my fun, and cut the level of NM dungeon that I can currently easily solo.
I understand there are people “so much better geared and higher skill” but I DON’T care. The Devs said “Make Sanctuary your own, play your own way” And I DIE if I do.
This wasn’t a post to discuss the communities thoughts about my character, build, and play style. It was a post questioning WHY they did not do more. I don’t care if others have 4/4 rolls on every single piece of gear, I do not. I am not racing to be the top of anything, I PLAY to HAVE FUN, not grind like a dog leveling glyphs so my sorc can be as strong as a fresh level 60 necro with no glyph work.

Here is the thing. Sorcs would of got more benefit out of longer duration on barriers. And longer duration on the buffs we already give ourselves. Teleport for example should be set back to 6 secs. basically you teleport in on a t100 kill the entire pack turn around to pick up a drop and get ganked because all of your defenses have dropped and some corpse bow followed you half way across the map and shot you from offscreen,

If you are struggling to survive (or compromising damage to do so), then perhaps you should consider using some of the many defensive tools they enhanced when the patch drops?

If you use the frigid fate board, which you probably should for the buffs to vulnerable damage, then two of the nodes they biffed are a short walk from the glyph area. One of them gives +10% vuln damage and has 3 other damage to vuln nodes around it, as well as two more DR vs vuln. The other node is surrounded by DR nodes. So if you aren’t using either of them right now, then you add 25% vuln damage and 25% DR vs vulnerable enemies by taking them.

If somehow that isn’t worth it to you, then you could use the warding and territorial glyphs and get about a 20% DR boost.

If you can’t use those, you could use the snow guard aspect with blizzard and get basically permanent 25% DR, as long as you don’t leave your blizzard for more than 3 seconds (which really shouldn’t be hard, since you are likely stacking blizzards to maximize their damage, right?).

Or you could use the new heart that gives 20% DR.

So there are several paths to getting +20-25% that they added or made more viable with the patch.

We could. But that would require compromising even more DPS. I don’t get what is so hard to understand about this.

Insanely strong? I am not sure what you meant by that. So a mediocre build becomes insanely strong? What about the builds that can’t utilize the upcoming patch?

Insanely strong seems to be an exaggeration.

I think it depends on the build but in most cases this is true for Sorc for a supposedly glass cannon class.

On my Conjurer Sorc I can sacrificed some DPS for some defense but probably not applicable to all buids.

My Conjurer Sorc basically have all these (minus Territorial) of what you stated plus:

  • DR on chest and pants
  • Everliving aspect
  • Burning instinct DR
  • Heart with immunity

My sorc is quite tanky and I can pretty much relax in T100 while watching some movie on my phone.

Good suggestions.
I used to use the warding…but, imo, the best if you use blizzard is icefall.
The only place where it is not so great is in ST. But then you have ice armor and aspect of disobedience for that.

But honestly this person doesn’t want help or even discussion…

I’m not entirely sure that is a correct statement. Sure, on paper it looks good. Adding defensives to passives on the paragon trees. But it doesn’t fix the foundational problem with Sorc survival.

Which is resistances.
Resistance is clearly broken, and in no way as good as armor. And Sorcerers get a much smaller amount of armor than every other class, while resistance is all over our gear and paragon trees. Blizzard clearly wanted resistance to be Sorcerer’s equivalent to armor.

Adding 2% damage reduction here, 5% damage reduction there, and only on certain things is not the fix. It’s putting a band aid on a sucking chest wound. If the foundation of the survivability problem is not addressed, then it doesn’t matter what repairs are made, the entire class is still on shaky ground.

And they have no plans on fixing resistances any time soon.

Not if it means you can run an additional offensive skill instead of flame shield or deep freeze.

But it won’t so…

20 chars.

First off, mad props for constructive suggestions, thank you.

Yes, I do use Frigid Fate board, it is my 3rd board. The changes they are making to the sorc are permanent. What I can change on the 8th will have ZERO impact on my sorc next season. I already have to 1. KNOW exactly what glyphs I am going to be running from zero to 100. 2 I am forced to level my glyphs to 15 to be at least as strong as a fresh t-4 necro, druid, rogue, with very little glyph work. So every single day I am running NM dungeons for 5+ hours. That is this season. Next season I will have zero paragon points to shift around and the Developers hard work will be complete GARBAGE. I can’t afford to move directly to the frigid fate board after you finish the starter, passing by Reservoir, that is asking to fail. In order for me to get to Opressive I MUST spend at least 100+ paragons.
Reinforced and Warding glyphs require 25 willpower purchased, so let me THROW AWAY 10 paragons to activate them? in what world is a level 50 or 60 going to have 10 paragons to throw away? Sitting at 200 paragons you might be able to afford that luxury. Sitting at 0-100 every paragon is super important, well I find every single paragon important, I already have to throw away some to get to the nodes I want, and I can’t afford to throw a flat 10 just to take 2 mediocre glyphs.

I just do not see what is so complicated about this. These changes are NOT just going to run from the 8th to Oct 17th. Perhaps it will be useful to the small population that sticks with Eternal and doesn’t make a sorc from level 1 again.
It was a VERY POORLY planned knee-jerk reaction to the catastrophic 1.1 garbage patch where the Developers decided in order to curtail the most powerful they would CRUSH the weak. It is virtually impossible for anyone to convince me that a Dev is ACTIVELY play-testing a Sorcerer class with decent, non-min-maxed gear.

Insulting me, telling me I am bad or stupid or making a fool of myself is not helpful now, nor has it ever. It is ridiculous to even suggest that a FULL 95% of this thread has been ANYTHING but insulting. Perhaps you are used to being called stupid, or an idiot, I am not. Worse is, I didn’t write anything that could be or rather SHOULD BE taken offense to, but small simple minds will do what they will.
Call me an idiot, or that I am “parroting” some streamer and I will fire right back exactly how stupid and insignificant I think they are.
Ieusebi was the SINGLE comment in this ENTIRE thread that was worthy of discussion. I disagree with him because I do not have the paragons to waste on 10 willpower nodes to activate those glyphs. And since I do not USE those glyphs I am uncertain as to how competitive they will be to the many glyphs I already have level 15+

When I posted this I was 74, almost 75. running T-25-30, I am 80 now and running T-40s. THAT is the experience I am drawing my conclusions from, not some streamer I do not watch. Again, to be perfectly clear, Insulting someone, as a person sits comfortably behind their desk and keyboard, or holding their phone, is childish, and nothing meaningful will ever come from it. IF I could have removed this comment I WOULD HAVE 5 minutes after I posted it. I would much prefer to think the people I play a game with are reasonably intelligent, decent, and normal human beings. Now I know they are not.
Small and insignificant children, regardless of age, who will never contribute anything meaningful to society. So I concede to let them have this space, to reign like the kings and queens that they are in their own delusions. I will never create another post.

Out of curiosity, what are your resists? While it’s true that they are not as strong as armor, armor actually gets weaker and weaker against higher level opponents and is therefore not nearly as good as DR. So giving Sorcs more DR is actually better than giving them more armor.

The problem with all the extra resists is that it’s too easy to cap it, so getting more becomes useless. But it’s still possible to not get enough if you totally avoid it on items and paragon. Going from 45% to 55% resist is worth a lot of armor, especially given how dangerous non-physical damage is at high levels. That’s a lot harder to do as, say, a barb, where you only get a few clusters that are far from glyphs and are mostly single-element.

The broken thing about resists is how weird the scaling is when the cap isn’t 100%. Adding new sources worth 66% resist is needed to take you from 45-55 in WT4. It might protect you as well as 750 armor against high level mobs doing non-physical damage, but it can be a lot harder to get (and doesn’t nothing against physical, and typically applies to only one element).

I don’t understand what this means… you don’t have any rare nodes that need willpower? You don’t benefit from mana regen? You can’t adjust your path to put some of those willpower nodes on it? What are you getting from those 10 paragon points that is so much stronger than 40% DR?

Again, you can take the massive boost to defense and therefore need less of it on your skill bar, or you can spend skill points Abdul slots to make up for it instead of spending them on more damage.

I really don’t understand this. Level 50 or 60 or even 70 isn’t the hard part. At that stage resists are still good and the damage boost from a decent sacred (and then ancestral) weapon is enough to cover a lot of inefficiencies. Sorcs are already outstanding at leveling. Literally S tier. So I have no idea what the issue is or what you think they should have done to fix it.

Please learn to read patch notes. Its ok, you can’t even make a build your own, let alone understanding the patch notes.

That’s why you have maxroll.gg ! Just…go there once the patch notes hits and they update their builds ( if they didn’t already ) and then finally…you will understand…hopefully.

i ate an apple today, it was yummy.
