Sorc patch notes

You’re crazy.

The biggest problem sorcs have is survivability. The paragon changes will make us a lot tougher. My arc lash build is about to get super tanky.

Hey it’s fun, alright?

I like slapping things silly with my lightning whip.

It’s fun to section out my comments and to use easy sections to show your perspective. . The underlying truth is summed up in this comment. You can disagree, you can tell me I am wrong, but it is the truth. Sorc are a hot mess compared to almost any other class.

If a game developer doesn’t KNOW how to make them better, how is it that you think I should know how to word my post to make it easier for you to understand? They failed on the sorcerer. IF YOU feel like a Powerful magic-casting, Controler of the Elements Thats great, I do not.
After reading these comments, in this miserable community, as I said in my previous comment, I will NEVER EVER make another comment in this dumpster of human refuse.
After this season I don’t care what they do anymore. They have the last dollar they will ever get from me. I will play until October and uninstall this $100 dollar fleecing, and never, EVER, forget to READ online reviews AFTER a game is already released Had I only waited, and done more research as I do with almost every other aspect in my life, I wouldn’t have wasted this money.
Blizzard made a fantastic game I enjoyed for years. I played WoW from Vanilla until the Wrath. I played D3 as well. I TRUSTED them to deliver a great product, and it WAS until they blew it up with the last patch. I trusted a veteran gaming company and prepaid for a fantastic couple months. Then THEIR vision changed, whether guided by powerful players wanting to always be min-maxing, or their desire to monetize quality-of-life improvements later, I have no idea and I no longer care.

You seem to know a great deal, can you tell me how to remove this post from this crapfest of a forum? I will be talking to customer service tomorrow, but if there is an easier way do tell?

You say that Sorc is a hot mess, that their glyphs only work at lvl 15, and that the devs don’t know how to fix it and the patch notes show that… these are all statements about facts. Incorrect statements.

How you feel about playing the class is your opinion, but if that opinion is based on choices you made that created a weaker character than you could have created, then it seems reasonable for others to offer suggestions about how to improve your build and therefore have more fun.

Some people are rude on the internet. That’s also just a fact. But the basis of a lot of the rudeness in this thread is that you are making assertions others disagree with and they are telling you to go look up a guide so you can understand the possibilities better. You don’t even have to copy a guide to benefit from looking at it. See how some of these pros set up their boards. Maybe it will give you ideas on how to incorporate the new tools the patch is bringing.

Thanks, I really do appreciate your efforts, but I strongly disagree. In my OP I clearly said

When I wrote this I was 74, I am 80 now. Imagine my surprise looking up a guide for Ice shard sorc, and finding that my “weaker character than you could have created” matched the guide in every single skill and paragon except I can’t play with 3 ranks of glass cannon, so I use 1 rank and put 2 more skill points in lucky hit… I never said I have perfect 4/4 gear, I don’t even know what that is, nor should I NEED it to enjoy this game… Even if they had a ladder I wouldn’t compete on it. I am not in a hurry to do anything, I KNOW adding more hitpoints to mobs WILL IMPACT my fun. I don’t have to wait until the 8th to know that.
I don’t care if you choose to defend online bullies. Calling someone you don’t know an idiot, or telling them they suck and are bad at the game… I am EXCELLENT at the game of life, and that is the ONLY game that matters.
Responding rudely to someone that said this

and

And people respond to that as if I insulted their family name… Stick to discussing D4, I had more respect for you before you attempted to defend the indefensible.
Because the suggestions I got were pulled straight out of their imaginary wisdom

Suggestions like Dude sorcs are so powerful, learn to play, you are parroting streamers, the list went on and on, one insult after another from knuckle-dragging human waste. NOTHING, not one single helpful discussion, until yours. Even if I completely disagree with you, I appreciate your efforts. I am done with this rubbish. You MIGHT see me comment on another post until I leave this game in October, but you will never see another started by me.

Let’s try to believe you. Post your video where you do it with a mediocre build.
One cannot but agree with Op. Now even some of the aspects in the game are not found. Drops 3 seasonal aspects and 3 obviously not suitable for the selected build. 0 generic or useful. Level 41 on a mage with meteors and so far not a single aspect with a meteor has fallen, not to mention that the equipment drops with the mandatory characteristics of lightning and ice damage. The characteristic for attack speed has disappeared, a rare one for the probability of critical damage. Armor drops with 3 elemental resistances.
The progression is clearly 0, you have to run in the usual yellow armor.
By the way, even the analysis of the legendary stopped giving fragments of legendary items. It looks like artificial slowdown. I think with patch 1.1.1 they will include some of this back.

Actually, it’s a nerf. Prior to patch 1.1, it was 20%.

Avalance key aspect. I got ONE when I was level 20, and instantly put it on my amulet that was decent and would last me for 20+ more levels. I am 80 and I have NEVER got another one, not one single one since then. I feel your struggle. What I have got is no less than 15 unique Staff of Endless Rage, which is what I almost always feel while playing this game anymore. I think Blizz is trolling me too. Their way of loling at me for pre-ordering this game.

Wait until you are 80 and they start shoving thorn-damage crap on you… Thorn damage, as if we can afford to get hit by anything lol the comedy writes itself in their vision

At this rate (with such a drop), I will only get level 80 in season 3. And it’s not about experience. It’s just a matter of equipment.

The damage hit you will take if you try to make use of the new damage reduction makes it worthless though - I agree on paper it looks amazing, in practice it’s useless.

Trading on the D4 community discord, is a great tool =)

I wish I could say it would get better. I think it is really a stupid practice that they decide who gets what type of drops when you make your character. Like their PROMISE was to "Make Sanctuary your own! Play your way. Except your way might need things you will never get because your character was decided FOR you, by us. You can play your way, but you will be weaker, and struggle more. And that is a garbage way to do loot drops.

What bothers me is the devs and people here trying to agree on how to turn a sorc into a melee class. The deliberately moved the camera in so ranged characters are no longer ranged, they deliberately added supprseeors, follow or stand in the circle events, and deliberately fed sorcs to the Butcher. They turned a class that in no other game needs defenses but has to rely on managing the battle field into a weaker, if possible, barbarian. “Play the way you want as long as it is melee”.

You do not need 4 defensive spells, cooldown reduction, or anything else from devs that appear to know nothing about a genre, and a class with a very long history in Diablo, they just made a game for. I wouldn’t count on people who turned a sorc in to a melee class, or the people making builds for views using all 4 defensive skills. Where is the fun in that? That isn’t the answer.

Mobility, and the ability to constantly reposition, should be your focus. Do not use core skills. You stand still and attack. Ever died to a bear or cannibal jumping at you? It is because you are standing right where the dumb as a post AI targeted before starting the animation. If you are moving, the AI misses. So you want to be moving. The AI also attack from off screen. If you are moving, they will still miss whether you see them or not. So will arrows from skeletal bows and ghosts. You do not need more defense. Stop buying into the melee class. You need movement speed. Boots and amulet. The more the better.

My sorc attacked with blizzard and hydra. Those spells have a history. Ice shards? Not so much. Created by designers who thought a sorc should be in melee range? They think you should stand there and cast that? You still trust them? Do not stand still casting that spell. Standing still is what gets you killed. Now, you can still use ice shards, just do not use it as a primary attack unless a boss is staggered or there is one enemy left. It makes a great enchantment. I use ice bolt as it explodes frozen enemies and also adds 21 chill as an enchantment.

Blizzard and hydra are fire and forget spells. Blizzard can last up to 12 seconds, hydra I had ~10 seconds. Once cast, they are doing damage for you while you reposition. They also have a nice relationship with the shatter passive. Hydra, if set to burn damage, can be brought up to very large damage with the burning instinct legendary node as well as the malignant heart that gives 80% boost to crit damage and makes you non-crits do 40% damage. Damage here comes from freezing after chill buildup, hydra as well as fire bolt enchantment doing rapid burn damage on the frozen target, and finally shattering, exploding for 25% of all the damage from blizzard (which does 25% more damage to frozen), ice shards if on the enchantment bar (I didn’t use it), as well as the burning from fire bolt and hydra.

When I got level 100, the bonus burning damage form burning instinct was over 500%.
My staff had at or just under max for crit damage, damage to crowd controlled, damage to frozen, and damage over time. It was only level 789 but kicked the staff the game said was better by 300+ damage. I don’t trust anything that game or the people that made it tell me.

My glyphs were all level 10, I did not do renown so was missing 20 paragon. If they needed to nerf damage in a single player game AFTER they shipped it, none of them have a clue what is and isn’t balanced. You may want or like to have those extra 20 paragon points, but you don’t need them. If you want to fight Lilith or push NMD, then sure, get them. I just wanted to enjoy the sorc the way it was meant to be played.
It is a really fun and dynamic build and there is a really good flow to the combat. Just don’t spam the skills and your mana is fine.

Frost Nova is not necessary, despite what many say.

Filling your bar with defensives is also not necessary, and likely detrimental.

Stop copying the mediocre builds posted on websites, and find other ways to fix your problems. Sorc is strong right now, pre-buff.

lmao just delete this trash class

except not, that was merely a rumor made by one or two angry player

many many players found every unique / legendary of their classes on a single character (well, aside of shako and the few others ubers unique due to their rarity) so…no it’s just rng

loot and drop table aren’t decided on character creation at all.

You bring up a good point about min/max gear as well. At level 100 the minimum damage on 2h Staves that you will find ranges from 900 to 2k and that is before being upgraded. On top of this variance range you have to get the right 4 affixes. This variance is absurd and without a doubt holding many sorcs back. Our damage issues run far deeper than this, but that is one our setbacks.

I wish I could believe you. My experience is different. I am level 81 now, I got something with the avalanche key passive aspect on my seasonal when I was level 15-20 and I have never got a single one since. I have opened 100’s if not a thousand Helltide chests, and grind NMD constantly. Not another Avalanche key passive aspect. On my non-seasonal sorc I bet I got 50 of these. I understand RNG, but that aspect is hardly rare considering my IRL friend who plays a FIRE sorc has got MANY of them this season.

Doesn’t it do this already?

on the 2nd hit, after it is burning. Tomorrow it will be on hit. So not any real or meaningful improvement.

Do you also use an aftershave with little to no alcohol, because it dries out your skin, and can make you look older?
