No, but there is bad memory management. What usually happens is you run out of virtual memory before the game levels off its usage, which is the problem. But the game will eventually flatten out and stop consuming memory if you have enough physical and especially virtual memory. And the larger the memory amount on the video card, the worse this is.
There are two major issues at hand:
Video drivers. And this is primarily with nvidia cards. Make sure you are not running on a driver newer than 561.09. The later drivers are causing a lot of people issues. (but not everyone, that should be noted)
Instructions on what to do can be found here:
-Game crashing after Nvidia Update - #2 by DTMAce-1687
Be sure to use the driver 561.09 that I noted above. The linked thread is a bit older, but the steps are the same.
Virtual memory. There are some conditions where you may run out of virtual memory. This is a virtual memory space based on the amount of your physical memory in combination with your system’s allocated swap file amount. To fix that, you have to manually set a static swap file, of a size no less than 16GB but many have been using 32GB as a solution. For steps on that, go here:
-Diablo IV has run out of memory - #103 by DTMAce-1687
Use the values for 16GB (16384) or 32GB (32768) If not sure, use the larger one. Set both Min and Max to the SAME value. Do not set the paging file/swap on more than one drive. Preferably the C: drive, or the fastest read/write drive you have.
Please note! These are workarounds to allow you to play the game!
They will not hurt your system, but if you don’t feel comfortable with it, that’s fine. Until Blizzard puts out a proper fix or gets whatever issues are causing these problems resolved, this is the best way to get many of you able to play the game again.
