Well, that sucks I accidently deleted my post here. It was pretty long documenting all the issues I’ve been having. So, I guess I’ll start it again with today’s problem.
Exiting the game after going to the shop caused a crash. Also, there were several disconnects while playing. Two of the disconnects got me killed. Both of those occurred during the Helltide event with the mind cage activated. Both of those disconnects caused me to lose over half of the cinders each time. One had the 395002 error that created a 5-minute delay in returning to the game.
Here’s a link to another post that I started when the problems started for me.
*Edit
Not a bad day for Diablo today the following occurred,
The crash occurred while exiting the game. There were two other disconnects, one just after entering the game and using a waypoint to travel and a second one about 30 minutes into playing again using a waypoint to travel.
The crash code was 91AA837F-1F28-42DE-8971-0842F9AA2249
Yesterday on the other hand was decidedly worse. There were several disconnects at various times, mostly during waypoint and quick travelling. Several rubber banding issues and slow game response. There were two times the game stopped responding, one that needed the task manager to get out of the game. Both of the times the game stopped responding resulted in character death.
*Edit
Tried something new today. Only did side quests in non-Helltide areas. There was a couple of rubber banding events but no problems with travelling or game lag. Then later in the day tried to fight in a Helltide Event and the following occurred,
There were several disconnects while fighting in a Helltide event. They mostly occurred while the Profane Mind Cage was active. There was also more rubber banding and game delays. There was one instance where the game stopped responding during the Helltide event that caused character death. Also, there was a disconnect during waypoint travel to the Helltide event. All other travel before entering the event was fine. Crashed while trying to reenter the game after a disconnect. There was also a disconnect while I was in the wardrobe trying on different skins for my sword and dagger. Weird since that was a static area with nothing going on except switching skins from one to another.
Crash code was 7F4144CA-9EBE-48AZ-A8C0-86C96A789477
*Edit
Not a good day for Diablo below is a what I submitted to Blizzard after a game crash,
I was trying to reenter the game after a disconnect when the crash occurred. There were several disconnects while waypoint travelling to and from Helltide Events. There was also a disconnect that when trying to reenter the game received the following error message, “There was an error, error code 300202.”
It looks like travelling to and from Helltide Events are causing my disconnect issues. Most of my disconnects are directly related to Helltide. When I travel in regions without a Helltide the disconnects disappear or are at least very minimal, maybe one or two. Where with Helltide, it can be seven or more. Not sure if it’s everyone but for me that seems to be the common denominator.
After a quick entry to the game to change the color of my items and adjust the skins on the weapons, exited the game and it crashed.
Crash Code is 523EB457-E832-4DCF-B457-90DC5C97723D
*Edit
Today was a very good day for Diablo. I only had one delay as I entered a Helltide Event, although it did cause some damage and I had to heal myself. I was able to travel several times without disconnecting and completing a Nightmare dungeon. Everything was going well until I decided to fast travel to a city to get rid of items. The game disconnected as I arrived. It was no big deal as I was going to exit the game after ridding myself of unwanted items. I reentered the game got rid of the items and exited the game.
*Edit
Well, Diablo followed up a great day with a terrible day. Upon entering the game, it stopped responding and had to be exited using the task manager. Then while in the wardrobe the game disconnected after changing the color of skins. Another disconnect while fast travelling to a city. There were a couple more disconnects and one more responding issue that cause me to die. I had hopes that the disconnect issues might be being worked on, but I guess I was lucky yesterday.
*Edit
So far today is an OK day for Diablo. There were no disconnects while travelling by waypoint or fast travel and I was able to complete a Nightmare Dungeon. But there were several game slowdowns, one where there were no enemies then the game stopped responding for a minute or so and all the enemies appeared, I was damaged and had to heal myself. Another time the game stopped responding during a battle with a lot of enemies and disconnected. Reentered the game at the same spot but with a decreased number of enemies and no elites. All of these events occurred during a Helltide event and each time I reconnected I lost 1/2 of the cinders that were collected.
*Edit
Well, this started off as a really good day for Diablo that turned into a crap day. I was able to fight in two Helltide events with only a little rubber banding and no crashes. I did have one disconnect when trying to travel to the Helltide event but after that no problems until after the second event ended. I went to start a side quest and was attempting to enter the Hungering Swamp and the game stopped responding. The screen went opaque and the Windows dialogue box for program not responding came up. I tried waiting several times for the game to respond and finally let Windows close the game. When I reentered the game, I was able to get into the Hungering Swamp then went to start the next part of the side quest by fast travelling to the Tree of Whispers. The game crashed as the portal opened. Tried to reenter the game and a second crash occurred. After reentering the game finished the next part of the side quest but decided to wait until another day to begin that part. This was at the end of about 3 hours of no problems, so yeah, I exited the game.

*Edit
Not a bad day for Diablo but there were some issues. The following is what was reported to Blizzard.
I was exiting the game when the crash occurred. There was also a disconnect when attempting to waypoint travel less than five minutes into starting the game. There was also a disconnect while entering an area with two enemies. The disconnect was accompanied by the game not responding. Then when trying to reenter the game the game crashed at the first load screen with no crash code.

Not a bad day again for Diablo but there were a few issues that occurred including one crash while exiting the game. Also, one game configuration that I did was lowering the frame rate from 150 to 60. This did seem to help a little with rubber banding and disconnects. The following was reported to Blizzard.
I was exiting the game when the crash occurred. I was at the character load screen getting ready to click on the shop to see what items were there. There was one disconnect when I tried to travel via waypoint within the first five minutes of the game. There was also some rubber banding.

*Edit
Today was a really good day for Diablo. I had no problems travelling using waypoints or fast travelling. There were no disconnects or crashes just a couple of rubber banding events that didn’t really affect the game play. It should be noted though, I did not do anything Helltide related just side quests. But I did do a Nightmare dungeon and there weren’t any problems when I was in the dungeon. No rubber banding and the game did not stop responding as it has in the past when there were tons of enemies. The only thing I did was reduce the frame rate yesterday. So, maybe that was my issue. I’ll of course have to test this theory with Helltide. I hope I finally figured out my game play issues. Now if I could only figure out why the game crashes sometimes when I exit it.
*Edit
It was a so-so day for Diablo today. As I thought the travelling issues I am having are related to Helltide events. I tried to travel to a city via waypoint travelling where a Helltide event was occurring and had a disconnect issue. While in the Helltide event I was able to fast travel back to the city but when I tried to reenter the portal the game disconnected again. When I tried to reenter the game, it crashed with a crash code. When exiting the game I decided to stop at the shop, the items appeared but before I could click on anything I got the message, “Attempting to reconnect to Diablo IV.” It never reconnected and the only option was to click on the cancel button that closed Diablo altogether. This was actually the second shop related issues that I’ve had. The other one was the shop just failed to load properly and I had to exit the game and reenter to get the shop back.

*Edit
Had a good day today there were no disconnects or problems with Diablo until I tried to exit the game. When I tried to exit the game, it stopped responding and I had to close the game with the Windows close program dialogue box. There were no crash codes the program just stopped responding. It also should be noted that I did not go into a Helltide event just completed more side quests.
*Edit
A so-so day for Diablo. As expected, travelling to a city with a Helltide event caused a disconnect. The following is what was reported to Blizzard,
I was exiting the game and returned to the character select screen when the crash occurred. There were also two disconnects while travelling. One waypoint travelling to a city during a Helltide event and one quick travelling back to the same city after the Helltide event ended.

Not a good day for Diablo. Below is what was reported to Blizzard.,
I was exiting the game when the crash occurred. There were several game slow down issues one where I was killed because the game did not respond quickly enough to allow me to get my character away from elite enemies. There were also several disconnects one within the first five minutes of the game when waypoint travelling to a Helltide event. One where I was just in town sorting the gear in my storage.

*Edit
This is the second edit for today. I just wanted to let anyone that is following this thread that there may be a solution to the disconnects and crashes. The following is the post where I got the solution. We should thank Greysmith for the solution.
*Edit
Well, after two days of no problems thanks to Greysmith’s solution, Diablo had a rough day. The following is what was reported to Blizzard.
The crash occurred when trying to waypoint travel to a city where there was a Helltide event occurring. There was also a crash before this one when I tried to interact with a blacksmith. When the blacksmith’s UI opened the game crashed. There were also several disconnects during the game play when travelling either by waypoint or quick travel. The first time entering the game received the following error and code. There was a problem logging in. (Code 7)
Crash code with the blacksmith, B7126B0B-C665-400D-A3D3-FD78E6E08E5
Crash code waypoint travelling, E27E19FF-3C9C-4CB7-B82D-64C9893DA44E
*Edit
Well, it seems Greysmith’s solution was a temporary one at least for me as Diablo is back to crashing and disconnecting. Below is what I reported to Blizzard.
The crash occurred while exiting the game. There were several disconnect issues during waypoint and quick travelling in Helltide events and to cities near a Helltide event. There were several game slowdowns as well. Mostly occurred in cities where there were a lot of players.

Not a good day for Diablo, the following is what was reported to Blizzard.
The crash occurred while exiting the game. There were several disconnects as well. All of the disconnects were related to travelling to and from cities during a Helltide event using both waypoint travelling and quick travelling. There was also an instance of the game not responding but that did not result in a disconnect. The game started responding within a minute.
*Edit
This was a really good day for Diablo. There were no problems with disconnects, rubber banding or game not responding. It should be noted that I only did side quests and nightmare dungeons no Helltide events. The game did crash as I was exiting though.

*Edit
Well, the beginning of the season is off to a good start. No crashes, rubber banding or disconnects. It should be noted though I am doing the story line quests before going into adventure mode where the Helltide events are.
*Edit
There was one game crash as I was fast travelling back to a city after completing the Magpie quest. There were no other problems with game play, just the crash.

It was a good day for Diablo until the end of the time I was playing. There was a disconnect while I was changing skins on my equipment. After the disconnect, I was trying to reconnect and the game crashed.

Second update, I had a disconnect after finishing a side quest and then a disconnect when attempting to reenter the game. There were no error codes with the disconnects.
*Edit
A fairly good morning for Diablo again. The following was reported to Blizzard,
I had just selected exit game when the crash occurred. There was also one disconnect during game play. It was after completing a side quest. There were no error codes for the disconnect.

A good day playing Diablo until I decided to exit the game. The following is what was reported to Blizzard,
While exiting the game the crash occurred as I got to the character select screen. There were no other problems during game play. I had just finished Act II when I decided to exit the game.
Crash code while exiting the game, 7C2AEB6A-221D-4BFC-9C71-02C15B721760
*Edit
A so-so day for Diablo most of the time I was playing, 2.5 hours, there were no problems. Then after completing the main story quests for Act 3, I started getting disconnects after completing them. Also, the game stopped responding which was accompanied by a disconnect. In total there were about 5 disconnects.
Second update - I may have found a cure for the rubber banding. I’ll have to test it out a little before I post it.
*Edit
OK, I think I’ve found the cure for the issues that have been plaguing the game. For the last two days I’ve played for two hours each day with the fix that I found while researching another problem that others were having. This seems to work in conjunction with the other fixes that have been put forth by others in this thread. Also, it is for NVidia cards but I guessing there are similar setups for AMD. Here is the change I made,
- Open NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Under 3D Settings, select Configure Surround, PhysX.
- Under PhysX settings, switch to your GPU from Auto-Select.
- Make sure all video drivers are up to date.
I know the “make sure all video drivers are up to date,” is annoying to hear but that was in the article that I read. In the two days that I’ve played with this change I’ve only experienced two rubber banding issues and no disconnects or game crashes. Again, I have to temper this with the fact that I am playing the main story line and not the season events, but I was experiencing crashes, disconnects and rubber banding while doing so. Hopefully, this will help you all too.
*Edit
Well, after three days of smooth playing with the last fix that I found problems have started up again. The rubber banding hasn’t returned, yet, but I did experience the game not responding causing a disconnect then after retrieving Elias’ finger there was a crash during the cut scene. Thankfully I didn’t have to do that part of the quest again just pick the finger back up at the shaded overhang. I’m not sure if this is an outlier or the issues are going to return. I’m hoping that it was just an outlier.
Crash code after retrieving the finger, 5D616D0A-D42D-48F7-8093-1A4802447BE
*Edit
It does look like the problems are back at least the crashes and they are random. The following is what was reported to Blizzard.
I just completed the quest to retune the soul stone and kill Elias. The cut scene ended and I was fast travelling to the next part of the quest when the crash occurred. There was also an instance where the game stopped responding and disconnected. When attempting to reconnect the game disconnected again. There were no error codes for the disconnects.

Second Edit
The crash occurred after changing the skins on the character equipment and exiting the game. I reached the character select screen and the game crashed. This is the second crash in less than 10 minutes.

*Edit
Well, this was a fairly good day for Diablo. I played for about 2 1/2 hours before I experienced any issues. The following is what was reported to Blizzard.
I was exiting the game after completing Act IV and the epilogue then starting the seasonal event by listen to the two NPCs. I had gotten to the character select screen when the crash occurred. There was also a game disconnect after I entered the Hellgate and fought part of the way down to the first elite enemy. When I tried to reconnect, the game disconnected again. I did not have to fight the enemies that were killed before I just had to travel to the point that the disconnect occurred.

*Edit
Well, Helltides are still a great place for disconnects. The following was reported to Blizzard,
I was completing a seasonal quest return to the city to talk to the NPC that issues the quest. There was a disconnect while walking in the city. Went to reconnect but decided to look in the shop after exiting the shop the crash occurred. There was also a disconnect upon entering the Helltide event that took 5 minutes to reenter the game. This was accompanied by the 395002-error code.
Crash Code exiting the shop, A954274D-F63B-4390-8AD7-163076021680
*Second Edit
After beginning the second seasonal quest the game stopped responding and disconnected. Again it took 5 minutes to get back into the game and again received the 395002-error code. When exit the game after getting the 3rd seasonal quest, the game crashed upon exiting.
Crash Code upon exiting the game, 40CD654C-8E74-459E-BD1E-8FB8AD994282
*Edit
Well, this so far has been a real crap day for Diablo. There were several disconnects during game play. I tried one dungeon 4 times and was disconnected each time, the Yshari Sanctum. I gave up on it and tried a different one completed that one no problem, completed it and moved on. Then I decided to go back to it again just to see if the issue occurred again, yup disconnected. When I tried to reconnect, I got the black screen that everyone has been talking about. I did have the game music playing so I just waited to see if it would start up, nope disconnect. When I tried to reconnect, I got the black screen with music again, then I got the Windows popup for program not responding so I let Windows close it out. There were no error codes or crash codes associated with the disconnects. I may try again later and see if there is any change in game play.
*Edit
Had two quick crashes one where I was trying to open the map and one where I was trying to reenter the game.

I think Diablo is trying to tell me something, I had two more crashes while trying to reenter the game. Both times the crashes occurred at the character select screen.

Well, after and inauspicious start to playing, I rebooted my computer and started playing again with no problems for about 1.5 hours. Although, there was one instance where the game stopped responding for a few seconds, but it didn’t crash, and I wasn’t killed. So, all was good after the reboot.
*Edit
So far not so good for Diablo. I completed a dungeon that was part of the seasonal quest and tried to quick travel to a city that had a Helltide event, and the game crashed. Then a second crash occurred while fighting in a different Helltide event when an elite enemy was approaching. No game slow down just a crash.

There were four more crashes while trying to play. All were random crashes doing various different things. The only thing that did not cause a crash was travelling by waypoint or fast travelling. Also, rebooting the computer after one of the crashes did not help like it did the last time.

I was trying to reenter the game after a second disconnect while trying to complete the Civo Rift. The first disconnect was accompanied by the game not responding the second disconnect did not have anything to correspond with the disconnect. I was able to complete the rift on the third attempt, I guess 3 times is the charm when this is happening.

Not a good start for Diablo today. I had three crashes in less than 5 minutes. One when fast travelling back to the city during a Helltide event to empty my inventory. This was the first travelling related crash in a while. A crash after reentering the game and interacting with the blacksmith. And the final crash as the game was reloading, never made it to the character select screen. The next problem was on reentering the game for a fourth time waypoint travelled to a city near a Helltide event, when the character materialized in the city the screen was black and resource UI never filled. Game music was playing but nothing else.

OK, I must be a glutton for pain, I continued playing even though I was having tons of issues with crashing. I got three more crashes while trying to do things in Helltide events. Well, one in the event and two just trying to reload the game. I decided to stop that and just did dungeons and lost keeps and was able to play for about 1.5 hours without crashing but then came the Lost Alter and when I was in the final chamber, the boss called up minions and of course the game crashed. I was able to reload the game and had to kill everything again, but I was able to finish it to get the reward and new waypoint.

One other thing I have noticed lately is Battle.net will randomly restart to do a security check. Of course, I don’t know if this is happening during game play, but I have noticed this when I’m doing other things and Battle.net is in the notifications area so I can quickly restart the game when I want.
Does anyone know the meaning of insanity? I think today I may be on the verge of it. After all of the disconnects earlier today I came back hoping it would be different. Well, as expected it was more of the same. I went to the PVP area to knock out some of the Whisper things and the first enemy I came across and killed the game crashed. Not a high-level enemy just a regular one. I got back in and was able to play for about an hour when the next crash occurred. Then two other crashes just trying to reenter the game. I just wish Blizzard would fix the stability issues that are there before introducing new things to the game. Don’t get me wrong, The March of the Goblins has gotten me some pretty cool items but I’m spending more time trying to reenter the game than I am playing it.

This was definitely a super bad day for Diablo. I had multiple issues mostly being crashes, but I also had trouble getting back into the game after crashing, only one disconnect and one event where the game stopped responding for about one minute. The responding issue did not cause a crash surprisingly. I also just started getting the black screen while loading and when I pressed ctrl+alt+dlt to get the task manager the game continued to load. I also had the game load where my character materialized in the city but there was no music, and I could not move. I could open the map UI and esc did open the screen to exit the game. That was an odd one for me.

And yes, I reboot my computer sever times hoping it would help. I did for about 1.5 hours then went back to the crashes. All of this was while I was in the Helltide event. I hadn’t tried anything else since I was having such difficulty just reentering the game. I’m actually going to try disabling my anti-virus and see if that has anything to do with it. I already checked my firewall, and Diablo is allowed in both private and public networks. I’m just shrugging my shoulders at this point hoping something works.
*Edit
Well, I thought yesterday was bad but today was much worse believe it or not. I tried disabling my antivirus thinking just maybe it was interfering with Diablo, even though I’ve never had a problem in the past, nope not the problem and I didn’t think it was. I had 8 crashes, 4 disconnects and twice the games stopped responding. Now I can’t even enter the game without it crashing. So, on the last crash I just complained about the connectivity issues and put the link to this thread. I don’t think it will do any good, but it felt good to vent in their little what went wrong box.

Well, there were several problems with Diablo where I couldn’t even get into the game due to crashes. I ran the scan and repair, but it didn’t do anything. It only took about 5 minutes each time I ran it. So, I decided to uninstall and reinstall the game. I don’t know if it will help as I’ve seen that it hasn’t helped people out but I’ll see.

Well, since I uninstalled/reinstalled Diablo the game does seem to be a little more stable. I did have a couple of travelling issues. One, when I was waypoint travelling to a city where there was a Helltide event. When I materialized the UI was blank and the screen was black, game music was playing. The second was fast travelling back to the Helltide after getting rid of unwanted inventory. Both time I had to use the task manager to exit the game. There were no problems reentering the game. I should also mention that there was no rubber banding issues or issues with the game not responding when there was a screen full of enemies. I played for a little over an hour, so all seems good with the reinstall, but I’ll play the wait and see game.
There was one crash as I was exiting the game though. I was a weird one where I was at the character select screen just about to exit the game for the day but decided to spin my character, the game crashed after a couple of spins.
One other thing I thought I should note is I didn’t make any changes to the game play settings; I left the default settings. Now that doesn’t mean that if changing game settings that are helping some should change them back to default, it is just what I did for this test.

As I feared the uninstall/reinstall lack of issues didn’t last long. Today was a frustrating day to say the least. I tried to complete the Edge of the Abyss seasonal quest but that was fruitless. Two times the game stopped responding which caused the game to disconnect. There were 2 other disconnects that did not have any issues before they happened. There were 5 other disconnects during game play 3 that were related to travelling. One fast travelling and two by waypoint. There was a total of 4 crashes in the 2.5 hours I played the game.

Well, after the update that said there was going to be stability issues addressed, I guess it kind of help. I only had 3 disconnects, one while trying the complete the Edge of the Abyss seasonal quest, I did finish it thankfully. One while trying to complete a Nightmare dungeon and yes, I lost the dungeon with the disconnect. And the third was while I was trying to complete the Remnants of the Faith side quest. Also, at the beginning of playing I did have the black screen with the resource bar greyed out after waypoint travelling. I had two crashes one when I was exiting the game the other, I can’t remember when it happened.

The day started off OK, there was a disconnect while loading. I was able to reload without any problems. Then when I tried to waypoint travel to a city with a Helltide Event, the game crashed. Got back in no problem, but during the Helltide I had just finished battling several bosses when that was done started to move to another area and the game crashed. Tried to reenter the game but it crashed while trying to reenter the game. Four times I had the black screen with the Hourglass and music and had to ctrl+alt+del to move on. On the fifth time I was finally able to get back in get rid of items I didn’t want and repair items that were damaged. I decided to exit the game, and it crashed again at the character select screen.

On a whim I decided to play D3 for a little bit and yes, I know those servers are being pounded like D4. But I found that there were no problems at all there. It was kind of fun to go back and play something without worrying about disconnects, crashes or rubber banding and black screens during loading or things in general not working like they’re supposed to. Yes, I do remember the problems when D3 first came out, similar to what we are seeing with D4, but it didn’t take Blizzard this long to figure out what the problems were and fix them. Just saying!

OK, the stability issue has got to be addressed. There is no way you can play the game as it is. Today I had a total of 17 crashes and 2 disconnects. 5 of those crashes were trying to load the game. 5 times the game started to load only to stop on the initial splash screen and remain black before crashing. 1 time the game stopped responding and crashed. 2 time it crashed during fast travelling, 1 time during waypoint travelling, 1 time after a disconnect and 2 times trying to enter the Seaside Descent dungeon. Right now, I can’t even get back into the game so I’m going to give my frustration a break go get something to eat and maybe try later, probably not though.

After the install of the patch that was supposed to address stability issues again, I tried to play. I got in fine but when I tried to waypoint travel and rematerialized in the city my screen was black with the greyed-out resource UI. I was able to exit the game using the options and reentered the game. I was able to complete the dungeon I wanted to then tried to quick travel back to the city. Rematerialized with the same issue, black screen greyed out UI. Exited the game, tried to reenter but the game crashed. Tried to reenter after the crash only to have the black screen with game music. Tried to reenter the game after it crashed at the character select screen. Again, tried to reenter the game had the same issue and crash at the character select screen. Also, twice the game stopped responding and disconnected. I was able to reconnect after both disconnection and there wasn’t any error codes associated with the disconnects. I was able to get back in but didn’t want to fight the game, so I just quit.

Not a bad day so far. I was able to enter the game play for about an hour without any problems. Granted I didn’t start out trying a Helltide. I did a dungeon to finish off the needed amount for the Tree of Whispers, went there got my reward and waypoint travelled to a city that was Helltide adjacent. No problems travelling to either, both were waypoint travelling. Went into the Helltide event and fought for a while there and claimed a chest there. Fast travelled to a city to get rid of equipment, no problem. Waypoint travelled to speak to Istel, no problem until I tried to interact with her. When I clicked on, I’ve gathered Mother’s Gifts the game stopped responding. I waited a couple of minutes but had to use the task manager to exit the game. There were no problems reentering the game. Checked my progress with Istel, activated a Nightmare Dungeon and an elixir. Waypoint travelled to the nearest waypoint near the dungeon. Rematerialized with a black screen and greyed out resource UI. Had to use the task manager to exit the game. The game crashed when I tried to reenter the game. Was able to get back in on the second attempt but the Nightmare Dungeon and Elixir were both gone.

Not a very good day, it started off with the black screen with the greyed-out resource UI when I tried to travel to an area after activating a compass. I lost the compass when I had to exit the game. There were 3 black screens while loading only one allowed me to get back into the game. 2 times the game stopped responding and disconnected. 3 times the game crashed while trying to reenter the game. 2 times the game crashed while fighting enemies, there were no indications the game was going to crash. One time while reentering the game the FPS dropped to 3 and there was no music and no response. I was about to use the task manager to exit the game, but the FPS jumped up, the music started, and the game started responding. I’m missing 3 crash codes, I guess I closed the window out before recording them

Well, the day started off pretty well. I just had a couple of crashes using waypoint travelling but I was able to reenter the game after both without any issues. I then decided to do an Infernal Horde and as I was fighting the Council the game crashed. Of course, when I reentered the game, I had to use another compass to reactivate the Infernal Horde. I was able to complete that and move on. Then I decided to do Helltide and that was when the problems really started. It seems that most of my problems are Helltide related just like last season. Travelling to and from the Helltide, fighting and now a weird FPS issue when entering the game. 2 times the game stopped responding and disconnected. 3 times the game crashed when I was reentering the game and 3 times as the game was loading it had a black screen with game music playing. Those 3 attempts ended in crashes. The FPS issue which is new for me after entering the game the FPS rate starts out at 8FPS then after a couple of minutes will go up and the game starts responding and returns to my normal rate. I have also noticed in the last couple of days the Latency has gone up quite a bit. I’m usually at 65 to 80Ms but lately I’ve been seeing it go as high as 200Ms during game play. There has been nothing different about the Internet or game setup, just a high latency rate. It doesn’t slow the game down, but it just seems odd that all of the sudden it been really high.

I haven’t updated this for 3 days but I have been playing and it hasn’t been very good. There were tons of crashes, sometimes I couldn’t even get 5 minutes of play time when there was a crash. I’m not going to list all of them because there were just too many and there was no rhyme or reason to the crashes. Sometimes the crash occurred when I was just walking from one place to another, not even battling anything just walking. Going into or leaving a dungeon. Once it even crashed when I click on a cache less than 5 minutes into playing. Surprisingly, there were no crashes related to Fast Travel or Waypoint travelling. Of course, there was the obligatory black screens and crashes trying to reenter the game. One other strange error I received was the error code 300001, The Player has been disconnected, please reconnect. I’ve never gotten this code before, the code I usually get it 395002. Kind of weird.

Well, today was an interesting day. I did a couple of things to the game play options that seemed to help out with the crashes. I turned off Peripheral Lighting and HDR. Turning both of those off and believe it or not turned on my VPN the game was smoother, I was able to play for about 3 hours, I was able to play a lot longer before I experienced a crash. I only had 4 crashes today. One time while fast travelling, one when I was exiting the game and one after a disconnect when I was trying to reenter the game. I tried turning off my VPN, waited a few minutes and tried to reenter the game and the game crashed so I turned the VPN back on. I was able to fight in a Helltide event help kill off several Blood Maidens without any issues. The one fast travelling crash was the first in a while. The only real strange issue happened after a crash and I was trying to get back in, I press play on the launcher, it went to loading then stopped and the play button lit up again. I had been logged out and then logged back in. After that everything was fine. Of course, I will have to test this out over several days before I’m happy about this. Oh, one other thing I turned cross play and cross talk back on too.

Today was just a bad day from the start. Had multiple black screens when trying to load the game all but one crashed the game. Once just walking around in a town caused the game to crash and interacting with the map caused the game to crash. I guess I’m only allowed to have one day where the game is mostly trouble free. I went from being able to play for a little over an hour before the crashes occurred to know barely five to ten minutes before something crashes. I didn’t make any changes from yesterday to today, so I don’t know what to think now.
Well, it appears for some reason when my VPN is enabled the crashes do go away. Somehow earlier my VPN was turned off and I was getting all of the crashes. I turned it back on and I didn’t have any crashes while it was enabled. It is strange that the VPN is allowing game play to be smoother and prevent crashing. It does occasionally cause the FPS to decrease during game play but only a few times but not to the point I can’t accomplish anything. I also deleted the Localprefs file in the Diablo IV folder in the documents folder. After that I had to go through the steps as if the game was new, recalibration of brightness and things like that but all of the characters and whatnot were still there, it was something I found online that was supposed to help. So, maybe that also helped out a bit. Who knows with all of the problems that Diablo IV has it could be anything at this point.

So far not so good today. I’ve had five crashes and one disconnect so far. The disconnect was while I was waypoint travelling to an area to start a side quest. The other four crashes were just trying to reenter the game. One of those crashes was after the disconnect. So yeah, I don’t know if I’ll even try playing any more today. I think I got a total of 5 maybe 10 minutes of play time. The rest of the time has been battling crashes.
Well, I did play again but I did a scan and fix before trying again. Everything seemed to be working better even my latency went down to my normal rate. I was able to do two dungeons and an entire Helltide without any problems. I did experience an FPS issue while the game was loading where the FPS dropped to 8FPS but when the game loaded it went up to my normal FPS rate. The only bad thing that happened during this time was when I finished the Helltide and went back to the city I interacted with the jeweler and the game crashed. When I tried to reenter the game I had the black screen, pressed ctrl+alt+del and the game started to load, I thought it would crash as it normally would but didn’t. It loaded normally I was able to interact with the jeweler, claim my seasonal rewards then went to exit the game where it crashed again. My total play time was around 1.5 hours after doing the scan and repair. I don’t know if it did anything but who knows.

Well, today was and excellent day for Diablo. I didn’t really have any issues amazingly enough. I did have a couple of FPS rate issues one that unfortunately caused me to die. That was a bummer. And once while waypoint travelling when I arrived the screen was black with the resource UI greyed out, I had to use the task manager to exit the game, but reentering wasn’t a problem. I did have two disconnects while fast travelling but getting back into the game was uneventful. Outside of that I was able to play for about 3 hours without a crash. This was by far the best day I had since mid-February. I hope it stays this way; fingers crossed.

Well, unfortunately I guess yesterday was an outlier in how Diablo was going to work. Today was just the opposite of yesterday. There were issues from the start. I tried to waypoint travel and had the black screen with the greyed resource UI on the first attempt at travelling. Interacting with the blacksmith caused a crash. Waypoint and fast travelling caused crashes and just simply walking in the town caused a crash. Also, opening the map caused a crash. When trying to reenter the game it got stuck on the Queuing for Game screen twice. Once I hit cancel after several minutes to get back to the character select screen and the second time after about 3 minutes the game finally started to load, and I was able to get back into the game. There were also several FPS rate issues where I had to wait until it returned to a playable rate before I could even move my character. Thankfully it did not cause my character to die this time. The FPS issue did not happen while battling in the Infernal Horde. That would have sucked as I had the Butcher in one of the waves. I didn’t change anything from yesterday to today, so I guess I got a bad day on the server today.

The day didn’t start off very well. When the game was loading the FPS rate started out at the normal rate then dropped to half that then down to 6FPS. It didn’t recover causing a crash. I was able to get back into the game do some side quests but when I was entering a dungeon the game crashed again. I didn’t want to fight the game so I deleted the Localprefs file and did a scan and repair. When the scan was done, it told me no repair was necessary. Reloaded the game, went through the set up again, no local preferences. When I started playing the FPS issue seemed to resolve itself, although there were a couple of spikes that caused me to wait a bit. This also seemed to resolve the latency issue. The latency was around 65 to 75Ms, but there were a couple of spikes especially in town where it jumped to over 200Ms. I was able to do a lot of dungeons and Infernal Hordes after the deletion of the Localprefs file without any issues. I did have one disconnect while waypoint travelling, but I was able to get back in without any issues. The final crash was when I was exiting the game. Not sure why that happened since both latency and FPS were normal for me. I can’t say it is the cause but for me after deleting the Localprefs file the game runs better. This shouldn’t be but I guess maybe the file is getting corrupted. I don’t know it’s only a guess.

Well, I’m truly at a loss now. What had been working, enabling my VPN and deleting the Localprefs file if there were any issues with the game didn’t do a thing today. I tried to enter the game, just starting, and there was an FPS issue while loading the game. The FPS rate dropped from my normal to 8FPS the went back up and then dropped to 6FPS. Before it could recover the game crashed. I tried a second time, and it happened again. I deleted the Localprefs file, reentered the game tried to skip the opening cinematics but the game crashed. I deleted the Localprefs file again and let the cinematics play out and was able to play for a while. Had a 3rd FPS rate issue that caused a crash, so I decided to disable the VPN. This time without the VPN the game ran smoother, and the FPS rate issues went away. There were 2 disconnects one while waypoint travelling and one while I was fighting. There was also an instance where the game stopped responding which caused a disconnect and I was killed didn’t until I went to the blacksmith.

Well, since it seemed my VPN was causing issues the last time, I left it off. I immediately had issues just trying to get into the game. The FPS rate was all over the place jumping up and down while loading. It went from my normal rate down to 8 FPS then back up the dropped down to 6 FPS and didn’t recover. This off course caused the game to crash. Again, trying to get back into the game had the same issue with FPS rate but this time accompanied by latency issues that jumped up to 800Ms. This caused the game to crash. I enabled my VPN waited a few minutes reentered the and was able to play for about an hour with very few issues. There were a couple of FPS rate issues that cleared up quickly and one latency issue where it spiked to over 600Ms. Both issues cleared up after a couple of minutes and didn’t affect game play as I was in town when it happened. There was a third crash while trying to enter the game after the initial crash.
Played for a second time today. It was relatively uneventful. I was able to fight in a Helltide and complete a couple of dungeons related to Whispers. I did have a couple of FPS issues though those were mainly in town. When fast travelling I did experience the black screen with the greyed-out resource bar that I needed the task manager to get out of the game. I also had one crash while walking after completing a dungeon and one crash trying to reenter the game. Otherwise, a pretty decent day for Diablo.

Overall, a pretty good day for Diablo. I was able to play for pretty close to two hours today and there weren’t too many issues. A couple of disconnects, unfortunately they were related to waypoint travelling. One of them caused a crash when I was trying to reenter the game. I had one black screen while loading the game but ctrl+alt+del did not crash the game. There were several FPS rate issues though. Mostly in the cities but there was one while battling a Hellborne that got me damaged but thankfully not killed. The only other crash I had was when I was exiting the game and when I got to the character select screen the game crashed.

I guess today was an OK day, there were some issues mostly FPS Rate and Latency issues, which sucked because it got me killed a couple of times and that was why I delayed going to Tier 4. One of the FPS Rate/Latency issues had the FPS Rate drop to 6 FPS and the Latency jumped up to 1100 Ms. Surprisingly this did not cause the game to crash. Thankfully there was only one crash while playing. There were a couple of disconnects during waypoint and fast travelling but getting back into the game was trouble free.
Below is what I put in a Fenris Crash Error window,
Fast travelling out of a Helltide event caused a disconnect, reconnected and reentered the game no problem. Salvaged unwanted gear and repaired gear, went to the Occultist and created a Nightmare sigil then went to the Purveyor the game crashed.

Well, after not playing the game for a couple of days I decided to jump in and give it a go, I rather wish I didn’t though. It wasn’t so much because of crashing, although there were 3 of them, it was due to FPS Rate issues. It was constantly dropping from my normal to about 6 FPS. One of the times I was killed because while I was waiting for the FPS rate to go back up enemies kept spawning, and I was unable to tell when I needed to heal. This happened again in a Helltide event when I was battling several Harbingers and again during a fight with a Hellborne. Each of those caused me to die. One of the crashes was when I was fighting with an Assassin. I had just dropped it to about 1/2 of its health and suddenly the game crashed. No FPS or latency issue, just a crash. I went back to town got rid of gear I didn’t want. The FPS Rate dropped again so I just gave up and exited the game and it crashed at the character select screen. I forgot to get the last crash code as I was just fed up with the game.

Today didn’t get off to a very good start. When I tried to load the game for the first time, I had normal FPS rates but as the loading process continued the FPS Rate started to drop. It halved itself then halved again until it was at 6 FPS and did hit a low of 4 FPS, which caused the game to crash. I decided to turn off my VPN to see if that would have any affect. I was able to get into the game and the FPS rate stayed stable. I played for about 2.5 hours and only had 3 crashes. The original and one while exiting an Infernal Horde attempt. I don’t remember what caused the 3rd crash. I did have 2 quick travel disconnects but no problems reentering the game, although I did get the black loading screen both times but ctrl+alt+del did not cause a crash. I also had one instance where after fast travelling I had the black screen with the greyed-out resource bar that needed the task manager to exit the game and a restart. I’m still at a loss as to why my VPN will give a stable game one day and the next will crash the game.

Yesterday was not a good day for Diablo for me but I cannot blame the game this time. There was an issue with my router, and it needed to be rebooted. I didn’t go back and play because I was tired of playing. There were three crashes and other game play issues but again this was probably attributed to the router issues. Today was better but there were several latency and FPS Rate issues. A couple of those got me killed. They always seemed to pop up in Helltide and the city but nowhere else. Most of my issues have always been related to Helltide and dungeons not sure why. There was one disconnect using fast travelling and there was no issue getting back into the game and then a crash as I was exiting the game. It does seem odd the if you select leave Diablo IV it will cause the game to crash when it gets to the character select screen. This is the most common crash I’ve seen, it’s about 50-50 that there will be a crash if exiting that way.

This was a pretty good day for Diablo. There were only a couple of issues during game play. The first time trying to waypoint travel I materialized in the selected city with a black screen and greyed out resource bar. I had to use the task manager to exit the game. I had a disconnect trying to fast travel, when trying to reenter the game it crashed. Then when I was trying to exit the game as it got to the character select screen the game crashed again. There were a couple of FPS Rate issue but those were primarily in the city and none while fighting enemies.

Well, I guess I get one good day followed by a bad day. There were five crashes, 2 trying to fast travel and 2 after disconnects and one after entering a dungeon. I hit one enemy, and the game crashed. Three time trying to reenter the game I had the black screen while loading and had to press ctrl+alt+del to get the loading to advance. Twice while waypoint travelling the game disconnected. There were several FPS Rate and Latency issues. One where the latency jumped up to over 1000Ms and the FPS Rate dropped down to 5 FPS. It stayed there for several minutes but surprisingly did not crash the game. I just realized I didn’t have my VPN on, so I guess that was the issue for me. I’m not sure why having it on stabilizes the game for me, you would think it would be the opposite.

Well, today so far is a much better day. Although I did have something happen that hasn’t happened to me before. I was in a city getting ready to go to a breach, I was going the wrong way, so I switched directions. When I did the screen went black and the audio started to buzz. I tried to bring up the task manager but could not. I had to restart my computer to get it to respond again. I did have a crash while fast travelling and one disconnect and of course the crash when exiting the game. There were also a couple of instances of high Latency and low FPS Rate, one where I almost got killed and one where I couldn’t move the latency was so high and enemies kept spawning around me, but I just kept casting to keep me alive. Other than that, the game was pretty smooth after the crash that made my computer non-responsive. I have to add one other thing that happened while in one of the breaches, I was going down a corridor and I could see on the mini map that I was only about 2/3rd of the way down but on the screen the rest of the corridor did not render but there was a starfield similar to the old Windows screen saver. I couldn’t move past it and after about 30 seconds the game disconnected. It was pretty odd to say the least. So just throwing out there, is Diablo 4 built over Starcraft!?

Well, I can’t even play the game today. I got in twice and the game was stuttering all over the place. There wasn’t any high latency or low FPS rates just stuttering. And just moving was hard. After less than 5 minutes of game play the screen would go black and there would be a buzzing sound each time, the game crashed my computer, and it rebooted. After the second crash, I decided to shut down the computer for a few minutes. When I turned it back on, I logged into the Battle.net launcher and there was a message stating they were doing emergency maintenance on D4 and the game wouldn’t be available. So much for getting a few more things done before the end of the season.

Well, so much for the expansion putting an end to the problems. Let’s see where to start, I tried to get into the game, and it crashed causing my computer to reboot, so of course there’s no crash code. I opened the shop when I got back into the game, and it crashed when I claimed a freebee. There was high FPS and Latency all over the place, it didn’t matter where I was. So, I gave up on trying to play. I tried again about 8 hours later, still having latency issues although the FPS Rate was OKish, but I was able to play as it settled down. I was able to help defeat a Realm Walker and was completing the dungeon when the problems got bad again. I got the message that I cleared the dungeon but decided to open the map to see if I left any areas uncleared, I did. Closed the map and started to head that way but the game crashed. I tried to reenter the game 4 times, but it kept crashing while it was on loading screens. This sucks because my character in still in the dungeon. I tried rebooting my computer after the 3rd crash but that didn’t do anything. I’ll guess I’ll wait a while and try to get my character out of the dungeon. Finally got back in a couple of hours later. My character was in a city not the dungeon that the game crashed in. I was able to get rid of items I didn’t want repair my gear but when I tried to waypoint travel, I got through all of the load screens then the screen turned black, and the music stopped. I tried to get the task manager, but my computer rebooted.

After not playing for a couple of day since the release of VoH, where I had tons of issues, I tried to login today after installing the latest patch. I got to the gate load screen and the FPS Rate dropped to 5FPS and stayed there. Then the audio started to break up and the game crashed. So, the patch to fix login issues and stability I guess didn’t work for me.
*Edit
OK, I was able to get back into the game my character was in a city which I suppose was good. I got rid of unwanted items and repaired my gear, but I decided not to play anymore. The next day I tried to enter the game, and it crashed on the load screen with the gate. I was able to reenter the game and started to play. I went to change from the horse to the battle cat. Then went out to fight. I killed a few enemies and a couple of boss enemies. Then I went to kill regular enemies, and the game stopped responding, the screen turned black, and audio started buzzing. I couldn’t get the task manager, so I had to restart my PC. I tried to reenter the game, but it crashed at the gate load screen again. It should be noted that my FPS rate was actually almost double what I usually get but the latency was around 230Ms. I thought that odd as I usually lose FPS Rate when the latency is high. I may try again later but I’m not sure and it is quite frustrating to say the least.

Well, this was a bad day for me even after installing the latest patch. I had the game crash my computer 3 times for no apparent reason, this is fairly new for me, I had this happen a couple of times but nothing like today. The first I was just interacting with the blacksmith, the second I opened the map closed it and started moving and the third was just attacking and enemy. Of course, since there was a reboot involved there was no crash code. I was able to get back in without any issues each time with the exception of the third time. I was only able to play for maybe 10 - 20 minutes each time. After getting back in after the third crash I was able to play for about 40 minutes without any issues. Then I got a disconnect and tried four times to get back in each time ending with a crash.

For anyone that is still following this thread, I believe I found a fix for the Fenris Errors. From the Battle.net launcher click on the gear next to the play button, chose game settings, check the Additional command line arguments and in the box type -disableds. This seems to have stopped the Fenris Errors, at first, I was getting disconnects every time I tried to travel but with today’s update, I only had one travel disconnect. I’m not sure if it will be a temporary fix like most of the one’s that I’ve tried but it does look promising. I’ve also started a new thread since the problems I was experiencing were somewhat new for me and I thought I should start a new one. The link is as follows,
I will be posting updates there if anyone is still interested.
