Repurchase D4 Steam

Good evening, everyone. How do you feel about having to purchase the game a second time? I believe this is not right. We play on a single PC platform, we didn’t switch from consoles, and so on. When I pre ordered in Dec 2022, there was no mention that the game would be on Steam. Moreover, Blizzard’s policy at the time was that none of their games would appear there. If I had known the game would be added to Steam, I wouldn’t have bought it on Battle.net. Does Blizzard realize that there will be nothing but negative reviews on Steam when the game is released on October 17th? This is not acceptable. Please refund the game to Steam for those of us who purchased it here. Or at the very least, offer a transfer for $5, but not the full price. The game is not worth $200, are you serious? If you’re not willing to do that, please allow people to request a refund to their card. Example, I bought the game but only played for 5-10 hours, no more. People, don’t pay for it a second time, this is deceptive!

No one has to purchase the game a second time. :man_shrugging:

I already have the game I do not need to purchase it again.

It’s necessary, I contacted customer support, and they confirmed it.

Only if you’re dumb enough to do so just so that the game can open up in another app.

Hey man, there are two pretty big threads about this, and I totally get it.

I think most people feel that steam is another service, just like ps5 or xbox, and so it’s just how it’s supposed to be.

I understand it’s still a PC based platform and it’s really complicated because if you use the same email for both steam and bnet, it probably does need some weird transfer process or you need to use a new email address, which if you already have a million games on steam it’s hard to do.

Some people have no use for the bnet app outside of D4, would prefer to fully migrate to steam, but if you still need to use a bnet account relative to playing, how does that work if you buy a steam account on your primary email and both emails are the same?

Not sure if anyone has the answers to that.

I personally don’t have a reason to go to steam, and I think the population of players is probably very small that has the problem so I agree with most other people that blizzard probably won’t have a working solution for this group of people.

Buying a second account may not even be an option if the email is the same.

Why do you need to create this topic when there are already two discussing the same thing.

just to help A13x:

this will help kind of bring you up to speed. Fair warning, very little sympathy from fellow players about this scenario.

Granted, the pro consumer thing for Blizzard to do is probably offer the transfer for a fee (so it’s 0 cost to them) or free (benevolent company assumption  )

i.e. to qualify for transfer:
Must only own D4 - no other bnet app/games.
Must have more than 20 games in steam library.
Must be same email.

Who has only one game on bnet?

Good point, some games are free so most people have multiple games.

steam is not another platform
its the same
most people prefer steam to anything else since its just more pratical to have everything in 1 app
so most people only use other services as battle net if they are forced to do so and there is no option to buy it on steam
so its very predatory and scammy buissness practise to release it first on the service no one likes and than on the good one - only reason to do that is so that they hope some people like and buy on their bas battlenet service and than repurchase when its avialable on a good launcher

good buisness practice would be to give it for free to steam if u already purchased it on bnet since its the same person / game / acount / platform

Doesn’t really matter how you feel about it does it? If you wanna launch through Steam, buy it on Steam. If not, don’t. Those are the options.

If Blizzard had announced in advance that the game would be available on Steam, there wouldn’t have been any issues. I would have waited as long as needed and bought it on Steam, but that didn’t happen. Blizzard’s company policy explicitly stated that no games would be on Steam. Let’s say I buy the game again for $100, what am I supposed to do with the one on Battle.net? Just let it sit there? Great. Furthermore, as mentioned above, even if you buy the game a second time, you’ll still have to use the Battle.net application. It’s a nightmare. So, in conclusion: don’t buy it again, don’t bail them out. This is deceit on their part

They already got your money. And they’ll get more money from Steam sales. They don’t need to be bailed out.

I mean, they probably couldn’t announce it if it was signed not a long time ago. And that part is fine. The issue there is to not propose a solution to migrate if needed. It does take work, but they could generate keys as this was done before.
Notice that we need a battlenet account either way, so we could have linked our steam acc to our battlenet acc.
Or you know, make a demo for D4, so people can install the demo (and battlenet launcher) and then the game.
There are several ways to do it. It just take a bit of time (that they didn’t take, obviously).

these threads are so funny. either add non-steam game to your library or buy it on steam. its not scummy or shady that they dont give you another copy for free when steam would require their cut.

Another app where my whole entire gaming library is bar a handful of games run on blizzards stupid launcher

Lets face it, the bnet app is an abomination and we only use it because blizzard forces us too.

Do you have vested interest in blizzard?

I mean, we should all be up in arms about this steam fiasco, but it seems there are some like you that actively rejoice and embrace the fact that we cant transfer over to steam.

I paid 100 bucks for this game, i should be able to launch it from steam if i so choose( insert incoming " but ya can launch it, just add it to ur library")

Its all kind of strange, but there is a pattern. I notice its mostly the shills that are singing and praising the fact 4we cant transfer to steam. Why is that?

You guys wouldnt be afraid of all the disgruntled leaving bad reviews now would yas??
