Repurchase on steam

Why do we have to repurchase on Steam if we already own the game on Battle.net? Shouldn’t the Link to Steam from Battle.net verify the game has been purchased by me? Greedy Blizz has to be greedy, i guess.

Name 1 company that does what you’re asking. You think people who buy a game in the Epic store so they get early access to it just get a free version for Steam? You think people who buy a game through Ubisoft because it isn’t on Steam at the time just get a free copy of it when it hits Steam?

No. It’s a separate service and therefor a separate charge.

That doesn’t make it right. Nobody should be defending this terrible practice.

It’s a business, not Unicef. Imagine you went to McDonald’s and bought a hamburger. By your logic, you should get a free one at Wendy’s.

Bad analogy man, digital is not handled the same as a tangible asset where you need to stock and do inventory.

Just stop.

Steam is a access service as much as a vendor so i dont think you should be lumping this in with macdonalds or wendys.

Whatever you say.

You bought a digital code for a game on Xbox and want a free one for PS5.

Doesn’t matter what you think it is, it’s literally 2 different services.

Yeah it is what i say.

Another bad analogy.

Wait didn’t they say you coould retrieve ownership on steam if you already bought the game on bnet… the dev posts are so damn shady man like…

You can’t possibly be this stupid, but I’m feeling generous.

Steam gets a 30% profit off the top. By giving people the game for free through their service, you’re stealing from Steam.

You’re dumb and somehow that’s my fault. Makes sense.

Bagboy, so I’m not going to cross ad hominem for you rinappropriate offensive comments.

This is the way I see it:

Anyone who uses real life goods as an analogy - fail. Obvious reasons, there is a stocking and inventory component. For console games, they are inherently linked to real media usually so it’s very convoluted - again not a good analogy.

When you look at the different relationships (lol comparing buying xbox and ps5 platform - direct competitors) you need to look at the parent companies and their relationship with the downstream platform and the conflicts of interest.

In this particular scenario, there has been at least one other big transition (destiny 2) with a crossover option - granted this was different - so not a good analogy either.

I really don’t care about looking into all of it but I don’t see why you would crap on other peoples ask to be able to transition access point of the same platform (PC). If the login and credentials are after the game boots up or requires an independent account, it’s much easier than you think.

A lot of games, you need to make your parent account in the company that is distributing the game, i.e. guildwars. Guidlwars was purchaseable but required arenanet login inside the game itself.

So, stop being such an anti consumer player and just support other players requests for reasonable things. I think it’s reasonable to ask for access on the platform. I agree if it’s expensive for blizzard to do they wouldn’t bother doing it. Feasable - unlikely - request merit - yes.

That’s all, now you can disagree on my opinion but don’t call me an idiot for having it.

Thanks

Seriously isn’t there an option to link Steam to BNET?

I’ve already told you that Steam gets a 30% cut on sales and using their service for free is stealing. But even that isn’t enough for you. Target Audience.

Sorry, do you understand the relationships between microsoft blizzard and steam and the contract at hand or what was negotiated and how the access would be provided? If not, I think you should just stop being an offensive poster and try being more constructive instead of argumentative.

Most posters come here and think it’s the wild west from wheverer they are from before and offensive and over the top to other posters.

I’m willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, just ship up man.

Not a good look.

Fails to provide said document. So you got nothing. Good job. Go dig it up and show me where it says “if you bought X game through Y publisher, then you get a free version through Z publisher.”

Sounds like you have the same problem, which is why I said it was all speculation several posts above.

Just going to put you on the ignore list.

Have a good life.

Lol can we just close this silly useless thread.

Bu before that, how about this anology, you biught a ticket tk see a movie and one theater location and then go back to a different theater with a the same ticket and try to get let in?

Or you try to log into Netflix with your hulu login cause they are showing the same show?

I think the 2nd one is better

It’s tough to grasp, I know.

This is actually a good analogy.
