Prism device removal detected

The latest version still has this problem. Happens every 40~60 mins.
CPU: Intel i7 10900kf;
GPU: Nvidia 3070 Ti;
Memory: 32GB 3200MHz

I am not a professional, but something that worked for a buddy of mine was the following…

They were using Windows 10, Nvidia 3080, 12th Gen Intel i7 processor and suffered from probably 1 crash every 3-4 minutes. After reviewing the logs generated by the fenrir troubleshooter - we were able to isolate the issue to either a fatal error, security exception, or direct x just losing track of the threads it was creating altogether.

The process I used to get his client working was the following:

Fresh Install of Windows 11; test - still bad
Update Windows 11 to current build; test - still bad
Update to nvidia drivers; test - still bad
**review logs - most are related to force close or permission / security related (which was odd as UAC exceptions were all in place and the application was “run as an administrator”). It was at this point I started to look at motherboard bios updates for their platform. Completing the vendor specific updates to the motherboard BiOS (approx 5 or 6 of them) was ultimately, in my opinion, the ultimate fix for the weirdness we were seeing; ie, processes just hitting a critical failure, getting closed forcefully, permission issues, etc…

tl;dr - check for motherboard updates from the manufacturer site, apply them safely, and see if that helps

Thanks for reading!

I can barely play anymore always crashes going into a dungeon or teleporting. This gets worse after every update. Judging by the lack of response by Blizzard I assume they don’t care or lack the knowledge to fix it. Never had an issue with D1 thru D3. STO has more intense graphics than this game and they have no problem, can name off others as well.

It looks to me like they just don’t have a QA team that knows how to catch these things before the games or updates go out. Everyone has the minimum requirements but all I see are incompatibility issues and what appears to be memory leaks.

I tried everything listed but have the same issue, It would be nice if they actually looked at the issue rather than give the typical tech support canned responses.

I have a problem after which I can’t start diablo 4. I changed the graphics card to the processor in the game settings and now my games can’t start, then I could start it

To fix this, you need to delete this file:
C:\Users\(username)\Documents\Diablo IV\LocalPrefs.txt
This will reset all of your graphics and audio settings back to default.

You can also go in and edit the file if you like.
In mine, line 27 says: Adapter "0"

If yours says: Adapter "1", then you can try changing it back to 0, and see it that works. If not, then just delete the file.

I just started experiencing this issue today, its happened now 4 times in 2 hours, 3 of the 4 were in Nightmare Dungeons but it happened in the overworld just now. There has GOT to be a solution somewhere. Yes I’m running the latest drivers and no, I’m not running any overclocks on anything, including RAM (disabled this as I read somewhere that it could help).

Specs:
Ryzen 9 5900X
MSI MAG X570S TORPEDO MAX
64Gb Corsair Vengeance Ram
PowerColor Liquid Devil 7900XTX
SeaSonic PRIME Ultra Platinum 1000W 80+ Platinum

22 Days since the last post on this. I just started playing and I’m getting this error. Is there a resolution or work around to this issue yet? Sorry, if the resolution was posted in the thread somewhere as I didn’t read through the entire post.

I’m having a similar issue but my report says " Prism device removal detected. error code 0"

I run with an i7 alienware with dual graphix cards. I cannot even get the game loaded and when I run a “scan & repair” diagnostic, I get to 4% completion and the scan stops.

Please help.

The situation has worsen since the last patch.

Yeah, can’t play at all. Got the “device removal detected” and the game crashes every time. Updated every driver to the date. Sad.

Same issue here. Intel i3 8100 - UHD Graphics 630 / 12GB RAM. Win 10. I’ll actually try yo run it on Linux with this GPU. I bet i’ll succeed.

Edit: Yep… No issues running D4 on Linux.

Same issue. RTX3060, i7-10750H

Last crash was while killing world boss and got screwed out of my completion and drops. Thanks blizzard.

It crashes with this error 5 times a day. Graphics drivers are updated, there are no background applications, there is no processor overclocking. Reduced graphic settings to minimum.

I’ve been noticing huge lag spikes when I try to open inventory or vendor. Then it crashes with the usual Device Removal - Win10/Dx12. I was able to play four about 1.5 hours today before it crashed.

Did a full complete reinstall of W11 and still same issue…

Yeah man, dang ol… I can’t even play the dang thing 5 minutes b4 I get that prism error. I paid sixty bucks for this dag gum diablo game, i can’t even run around and torch em.

I think this solved my problem!

Idk how I did not notice I had outdated bios for so long

I just got the “[Prism] Device Removal - Win 10/Dx12 TQ0 RT0 DLSS0 FG0” and it happens each time I try to go into the game. Can’t get past this bug. Does anyone have a fix? Looks like an old bug but I do not see any suggestions on how to fix it.
