A few more things to raise based on play this weekend:
- Crash on game timeout. Game timed out from inactivity and the game crashed instead of returning to the main screen. This happened to me only once; I was booted for inactivity several times over the weekend and all other times it did not crash.
- Game froze on town portal. Was trying to town portal to Menestad from the Mercy’s Reach dungeon. The cast completed, the load screen appeared, but it never went away. Ended up doing an ALT-F4 to get out of the game. When I logged back in, I started in Kyovashad, not Menestad.
- Bugged jump point. There’s a “jump point” (quick-time event/press the spacebar thing) from Sarkova Pass to the Pallid Gate. Try as many times as I might, it never worked. My character started the animation to jump and then just sort of landed at the exact spot he started, never crossing to the other side.
- "Invisible Walls". This happened to me in a few spots - travelling along a pass from one subzone to another and my character just starts running in place, unable to proceed. This happened most consistently when trying to leave the East Gatehouse in Kyovashad, but there were times when I had no issue. I also had this happen trying to travel from the Southeast Foothills to Father’s Cross (which I had literally just traversed the opposite direction). Sometimes I just needed to wait a few moments and try again, so I assume it’s a load/lag issue. Other times that didn’t work, or required more of my time than I had patience so I gave up and went a different way.
- Shapeshifted druids make human injury noises. Not much else to explain. Expected a werebear to make a bearlike sound when struck, but you hear your human voice instead.
Also figured I’d add some general thoughts on each class. I played each to at least level 15 and most to 20. This is of course all highly subjective/opinion stuff.
- Barbarian. Expected to be a wrecking machine, felt surprisingly weak. Probably just needs some simple buffs.
- Druid. The only skills that felt decent were the werebear ones. Everything felt undertuned and underwhelming. Spirit felt like it was spent too fast and regained to slowly, forcing me to rely on my basic skill way more than felt good. Most non-basic abilities also felt less responsive than other classes, like there was a lag between keypress and the action being executed in game. I’m all for the class feeling slow, but it just didn’t feel responsive. Tried a lot of different skill layouts and was the most disappointed with the caster abilities, which looked good but felt even more underwhelming than werebear and werewolf skills. Disappointed we couldn’t test their class specific mechanic.
- Necromancer. Felt great. No other comments.
- Rogue. Felt great. No other comments.
- Sorcerer. Felt great. No other comments.
