[Main Thread] Game stops responding/freezes/crashes at launch - Early Access (June-2023)

Same issue here.
Tried everything including full reinstall of my computer. nothing worked.

Just a question for those who are stucked : are you on wide screen ? Asking because working fine on my wife’s computer and the only difference is screen (mine is 3440*1440).

also affected. new laptop (legion 5 with rtx 3070ti + ryzen 7 6800H) that had no issues playing beta on high settings

tried

  • removing high quality textures
  • moving game from one HD to the other (both are identical SSDs though)
  • full reinstall including deleting beta files
  • changing windows scaling from default 150% on my ultrawide monitor to 100%

nothing has worked, it gets stuck on the blizzard opening screen every time.

If I’ve seen the future, then it’s for a long time.

i used the command line arguement -regioneu to switch my region and was able to connect. The characters are shared across regions it seems.

this is not a true solution but you will be able to continue playing if you do this, while they sort out w/e is upw ith americas servers.

I’ve been having the same issues described here. If I click through cinimatic, it crashes on “logging in”, if I don’t click through either cinematic, it will crash in that cinematic. I was able to log on and play once yesterday and once today by sheer luck I guess. I have tried everything other than downloading third-party apps:

  • Uninstall Reinstall
  • Scan and Repair
  • Run minimized
  • Install without High Resolution Assetts
  • Update Nvidia driver
  • Run command line -regioneu (I’m NA-West)

I have a high-end PC I built this year with top-of-the-line components.

I am having the same issue
I did all the troubleshooting that Blizz suggested and even scanned the game files
The the other fix they suggested does not apply to me which it switching from an nMVE drive to another hard drive and since I only have one hard drive that does not apply

Works for me. From what I read, I Suppose there are two kins of Issue:

  • One may be linked with disk/folder access (and changing disk or using crystaldiskmark seems to solve the topic)
  • Another one maybe more linked with early access that seems also not to be perfect…

Anyway… very frustrating, especially regarding the bill to have the game…

You have a different region or server, it works for this.When they fix it, but it won’t be soon,.They have to update and fix it themselves.I’m waiting for client updates.

I’m having the same issue - watching this forum for the fix.

I’ve currently uninstalled and in the process of installing it on another hard drive.

I have been trying to launch since release at 7pm est last night with no luck tried everything in their general support answer they copy pasted here. Still nothing running a 4090, 79580x3d, 64gb ram at 6000, x670e msi meg, 990 and 980 Samsung drives… all drivers up to date multiple installs and multiple scans. and this issue isn’t even among one of their tracked issues so I guess this is gonna be a while?

I started at European time 1:00 everything worked.Played for 3 hours .I go in today, nothing works for 3-4 hours.

I luckily was able to log in last night after running into this issue for 20 minutes. No luck logging in yet today.

I’m running a similar rig - TUF 4090, 32gb ram, Ryzen 7 7700X, TUF Gaming X670E

I have been unable to play (Americas), but logged out of Battle.net, set my region to Europe, and was able to sign in fine and play with no issues.

Log out again, change region back to Americas…and freezes up immediately trying to log in.

From what I can tell though, if you create a character in one region, you cannot play it if you change regions…being in Canada, for obvious reasons I REALLY need to get it working on the Americas server though…don’t want to play too far into the game…though, with the time shift, servers might be quiet when I am playing here!

Interesting, I will try that once my game is reinstalled.

i got mine working a total of 1 time ran amazing for an hour then i crashed and could not get it back working but to even get in I have to spam click through the diablo opening and now it crashes at the login with background music playing and then shortly stopping and then giving me a not responding error. wish you the best of luck today! idk if your issue is very similar to mine or not.

As it affects the game directly, disable Windows Firewall and try again. If it works, enable it back and modify the settings in FW.

If D4 can’t talk back home constantly, it gets pissy and acts badly.

Yes, I got in last night by spam clicking as well!

Glad it worked for you Paprikacreek. Unfortunately, this did not fix it for me.

I turned off window defender firewall and the firewall in windows settings, restarted the computer and it’s still crashing on me.
