Those who know about Fields of Hatred being a PVP area, will probably opt-in anyway.
Those who don’t initially know will now know and have the option to opt-in or not and know about it going forward.
Those who are really adamant for it to be an open PVP area are probably those who want to camp out on the edges of the area and kill unsuspecting newbies/players.
i think is the opposite. open pvp always and i mean always fails. plus what is your issue with people being able to choose and opt for it? those who want open would stay and look for similar players. no wait, you basically wanna do the same crap pking, reason why 100 % of that old crap shows to be a waste in resources. to be a bully is basically what some of you want. you wanna fight people who has 0 interest in interacting with you ever. why giving that power to you while the other also paid the same ammount for the game? sorry but this isen’t fair for everyone. i hope they keep it opt or else this game won’t end up good, and would also loose them tons of players
I thought when I was testing this out it was only opted/neautral out when making purchases in the city but as soon as you left this area the rest of the zone you were fair game…
Or maybe I just didnt know how to opt out… 
this game is not a damn mmo. there are people already upset you cant play the game single and yet some of this morons are looking for open world pvp crap. sick of it
that is exactly the point. they want those who opt out of it, to be forced to engage into the same boring pking crap and have to waste their time dealing with some bored bully looser who gets turn on by wasting other’s players time.
exactly. that is also one of the outcome for the pvp crap. always constant nerfs so that the pvp bullies don’t get upset and cry when other class faceroll them.
thats good I like balanced classes…and well avoid that zone pretty simple its a much smaller part of the map and easy to avoid…like it or not pvp is coming…
then play eve online? there you have it. only way i see this happening in a diablo game, is with private servers. make your own god damn private server, and kill each others to your heart’s content, perma death included and full corpse looting. now i would be very pissed off if they pull this crap on regular servers.

And you’d literally join the game 99% of the times because that’s how many people were pvping
then we come back to point A. why some people have to miss a small part of the map considering we all paid the same amount for the game. but you will have more rights? don’t you see something wrong with this ceoncept? because i don’t think is fun for lots of people who would rather be able to get the same content. so then opt in is the best alternative here to please both sides. as soon you start doing the pvp, pve balance crap you end up with a ruined game for everyone at one point or another.
this is why games that go full pvp are designed from the bottom up with pvp. wich is not the case for diablo games.
have us all opted in and safe zoned at the vendor city like I saw…seemed to work fine

Why would I play eve online?
Just because you’re terrified to get rolled in PVP doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have an area for it… don’t wanna PVP? Don’t go into the fields of hatred… simple logic.
if they do it they will probably gonna loose tons of sales. mostly because diablo has never been a an open pvp mmo.

You know, I see players like yourself who not only live in the past, but think the world revolves around them. Diablo evolved for the BETTER. You don’t wanna PVP? Stay away from PVP zones, wanna have a single player experience? Go play D2R… or you know the thousands of single player games.
It’s comical how there is this much fuss over a single zone being there for PVP.
